I like kimchi - spicy asian fermented cabbage condiment. It really perks up meats especially, and is very low calorie.

I have had an office job my whole life, and I have lost over 100lbs in the last 18 months. I havent done a lick of intentional exercise either, due to medical issues. I just reduced and controlled the number of calories I consumed in a day to an appropriate level for me, and have been really successful. There is no…

If you have negative net calories, then you are using more energy than you are taking in. Even though you may be eating at least 1200 calories, you are burning more than that, so its like you are not eating calories at all. As others have said, the fitness trackers on the market today are at best questionable in their…

Perhaps you could ease off on the running and go back to the light yoga, stretching and walking. The issue I see is if you have hurt yourself somehow, you could be in for life long issues if you dont address it now, and take time to completely heal. Maybe a physiotherapist would be worth while checking out. The foot issue…

It means you are eating fewer calories than is recommended to maintain the nutritional profile that most women need. A few days of that here and there is not really an issue, especially given your stats, but it really is recommended that women eat no less than 1200 calories daily to maintain a minimally optimal nutritional…

Eat what you know you will like, and just eat less of it. If you want to experiment, try grating carrots, or zucchini and mixing it with ground beef for a meatloaf. Make soups out of the stuff you like, and add one new thing. Everyones definition of what is healthy is different, but if you wont eat it, doesnt matter a lick…

Soul sister........... Costco sells frozen mini chicken and cilantro wontons from the freezer section (I guess thats obvious) that are low in calories and can be nuked in about a minute or two and are a good snack. They also carry a brand of frozen French Onion soup that is really delish but I cant remember the name of it…

thats unusual - oh well, just pick from the latter two suggestions then.

Depends on how hungry I am, or how tired I am.

I eat far fewer simple carbs (bread, pasta, baked goods) than previously. They were core components to my previous diet and I really really liked them, so I over consumed and my weight ballooned. My permanent change is I have to keep these items under control.

If they are pre-packaged, isnt the nutritional info on the container? If you bought it, there is a bar code - scan the barcode with your phone and it will tell you what the calorie content is. Deconstruct the sandwich and weigh the components. Estimate the components in the sandwich. Pick which one would work best for you.

The "you would weigh X in five weeks" is simply an algorithm based on what you ate THAT DAY. People have mixed reactions to it - some find it motivating, some find it completely irrelevant to their progress and in fact, get frustrated with it because it is not accurate - weight loss is not linear and cant be predicted that…

Timing of meals has nothing to do with how you lose weight. Clearly, eating breakfast is NOT giving you the pep you are looking for, so I would try a few days of skipping it.

I hear your struggle and I can relate in some ways. Given the myriad of conditions with which you must cope, I sincerely believe that a therapist would be your best option - you have a variety of issues that you recognize need addressing, and until you are able to focus on improving your health by losing weight, the other,…

Are you a better pastor if you eat what others push on you? Or does your skill at pastoring come from another source? I am not trying to be flip (frankly, I dont know what a pastor does, other than its related to religion) , but I think that there are other ways to show your engagement in your spiritual responsibilities…

Dont give up - the science that is CICO really does work. You need patience and faith. Get a food scale and use it like your life depends on it - you never know, that really might be true. Be as accurate with logging as possible, but dont sweat the small stuff - I often dont count lettuce or tomato slices or stuff like…

Whats your priority - a lasting improvement to your health including weight loss or momentarily eating something that you either dont need nor truly want. Its a decision I have to make many times in a day, even after over a year of following MFP guidelines and losing over 100lbs. I still struggle with it, but dont want to…

Eating clean doesnt mean phfft - you eat too many calories of anything, and you will gain. My best advice (and I've lost over 100lbs) is plug your stats into the MFP calculator and eat the number of calories it tells you. Set your activity as active or lightly active and set a goal weight loss of 1 lb per week and you will…

No shame in telling people that you are making changes in your lifestyle for health reasons - no one needs to know that its weight loss you are aiming for. No one woud make rude comments if you were trying to avoid diabetes or heart disease or hypertension. I dont understand how people feel entitled to make snide comments…

I love a big mixed green salad with taco meat and low fat sour cream as dressing. I could eat that every day - I love the crunch, the different textures and temperatures (cold lettuce, warm taco meat) and of course the taste. I like it spicy and the greens and sour cream temper that heat. No cheese, no croutons, no guac…

Over 100lbs gone and I have been on thyroid meds for 28 years. If you are on the right meds and doseage, you lose weght just like anyone else. Dont fall into the trap of either accepting or using your thyroid as a reason not to put 100% effort into your weght loss goals..

Logging keeps me on track toward my weight loss goals and honest with myself. I think I read somewhere that those who log or otherwise keep a food diary lose more weight over time than those who dont. It does help me focus on my journey and I like the visual cue that I get from the numbers that tell me that I am on track…

My suggestion was rather than incur the expense of getting the pizzas and other ordered in stuff, get groceries and cook for yourself and your parents. It would probably be more cost effective, and you can control what you make. Cooking for your folks would be much appreciated, I am sure.

Calorie counting and portion control - hands down the most effective way of eating for me to meet my weight loss goals. No restricting, no deprivation, no forbidden foods - everything in moderation. I got started because I was facing knee surgery and my doctor said I could lose 20lbs - so I lost over 100 by the time I had…

I sub Special k cracker chips for potato chips - a 20gram serving is 80 calories and I can fit that into my budget every single day. They come in all the flavours of chips that I like, especially BBQ and salt and vinegar.

I use PB2 Hazelnut flavour on toast, just like I would peanut butter because I have to have peanut butter to live but it has a lot of calories for a very small portion. PB2 is an acceptable substitute for me. It certainly has cut my cravings for PB.

Gee I hadnt heard it was harder after 50 to lose weight, so I just went ahead and lost 115 lbs in about 18 months, all with my little yellow packets of Splenda by my side. I'm over 60 yrs.

115 lbs in about 18 months - I am over the moon pleased!

I dont want to sound harsh, but sometimes, reality is just that. You either do it or you dont. No one can motivate you. You have to want to lose weight more than anything else in your life - seriously. Because to be successful requires motivation, willpower, commitment, consistency, dedication, and focus. If you dont have…

Good for you! You will find losts of tips and advice here that absolutely can help you do that! First, enter all your statistics into MFP, and it will calculate for you how many calories a day you can aim for in order to lose .5, 1.5 or 2 lbs per week.
