You may have developed a sensitivity to the enzymes in pineapple. Pineapple is used often as a meat tenderizer, and can irritate the tissues in your mouth.

Spending about the same, only allotting it differently. Vastly decreased eating out, almost always bring lunch to work, buy lots of veggies and fruit and no typical junk food - no chips, no baked goods, no sugary anything. If I want those, I have to make them, and sometimes I do, but rarely. Have always preferred to get…

I make a taco meat sauce, and use it for (obviously) tacos, but then if there is any left over, it tastes great over a bed of greens and some sour cream as dressing. Sort of taco without the taco shell. I take it for lunch a lot and dont even bother to reheat the meat mixture - there is just something really satisfying…

Kimchi - just a couple of tablespoons really zings up virtually anything from eggs to steak. You can puree it and add it to soups or use it as a sauce.

Can you find a lot of these recipes on Pinterest, or any of the other recipe sites?

My favourite cookbooks are LooneySpoons, Crazy Plates, Eat Shrink and Be Merry and the LooneySpoons Collection. I like them because they give the nutritional info about each recipe, they use just regular ingredients that arent hard to find, there is a wide variety of recipes, including international based ones, they…

And are you going to eat this for the rest of your life?

The way our food choices have changed over the years is a lot less about the actual food, and more about lifestyle, in my opinion, as well as access, education and of course technology. I live in southern Ontario Canada - when I was a kid, greenhouse tomatoes (those rock hard, barely red billiard ball things) were the only…

Ears FIRST!!! Anything else is inhumane!!

Seriously, I tried this about 20 years ago for weight loss at the recommendation of my doctor at the time. I lasted only 2 sessions - I got the same feeling that I do sitting in front of a casino machine - "how stupid is this?" I really wasnt giving myself over to the idea that it could work - sort of like voodoo to me,…

My father is a practicing Catholic. The point of Lent, he says, is to give up something that you enjoy to experience, if only marginally, the suffering described in the Bible before the events celebrated at Easter. It doesnt have to be food, it can be something else that you refrain from for 40 days. Watching tv, video…

Well, since this is primarily a calorie counting site, the majority of folks are going to come down on the side of counting calories! I have lost over 100 lbs with calorie counting, and weighing my food to make sure I am eating at the level I think I am - I do not have the skill to be able to eyeball portions accurately.…

I've gone between 1500 and 1200 cals per day while losing over 100 lbs since October 2015. Started out losing 2lbs per week, but at this stage, closer to goal, I am at 1lb per week. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with rather big kidney stones right now, and am looking at surgery - my specialist gave me the stink eye…

I average out to 1200 per day, (old, sedentary) and I do no intentional exercise (medical). Lost over 100 lbs since October 2015.

Weighing and logging - changed my life for the better. Its the tool I need to keep me on track - I cant eyeball stuff, I dont have that skill.

I just tried roasted radishes for the first time - yep - radishes. Just drizzled with a little olive oil (and I am starting to stock pile that stuff now) and then roasted at 400F for about 30 minutes (I had a chicken breast in there too). Wow. Tastes like roasted mini red potatoes to me. A little grainier than potatoes,…

I hate to hear anyone say they are failing - you're not, really. You are learning a lot of things that DONT work for you! You only really fail when you give up for good. Since you are asking for advice, and you are hoping to get your mojo back, as long as you keep picking yourself up and trying, you are ok. You are human.…

Cumin smells like fresh mown grass to me, and I love it!

People with disabilities or just mobility issues like me can lose weight without exercise - over 100 lbs gone in a year, before I had knee surgery. Now that that is over, I can move a bit more and lose even more!

Oh gosh its good to know I am not the only one who fishes packaging out of the trash to check the bar code, or that uses the postage meter at work to weigh fruit if I forgot to do so at home! Humans are such adaptable creatures!!

Doesnt your grocery store offer fresh lettuce of various kinds, carrots, radishes, etc? Thats all thats in those kits - maybe some cabbage too. Make your own! Cheaper, fresher and you know whats in it and what the calories are. All you have to do is a little chopping.

Curse you! she mumbles as she digs out her credit card..............

Calorie counting and portion control enabled me to lose over 100 lbs - I didnt even exercise due to mobility issues. I have eaten pretty much anything I want - my nightly snack is special K cracker chips and a mug of tea, just in the right portion to fit into my calorie budget. I havent eliminated much, but cut down on a…

Naproxen is the generic name for the trade name Aleve, only stronger dosage when prescribed. I was on it for years, until it didnt work anymore, and got bumped up to opioids. Didnt affect weight loss - 100 lbs down since October 2015

The colour of your urine can be affected by what you eat, but also by the concentration of water in it - the more water you drink, the lighter your urine. The less hydrated you are, the darker it will be. Vitamins and minerals consumed can also haave an impact Some illnesses can also affect the colour, but unless you hear…

[Out of curiosity what you would consider to be CE? For me, it would be basically raw fruit and vegetables, nuts. Nothing processed. But in the real world, for me, I wouldn't not be able to live like that for the rest of my life. lol [/quote] I think the term "clean eating" is such a vague and ambiguous term as to render…

If you dont eat a full serving, then you can change the serving size to .5, .25 or any fraction of the serving.

14,512 teabags - yikes!

My doctor told me the same thing - I think I can go a little lower, but we will see.

I was off for 6 weeks with knee replacement surgery, and I absolutely loved it (not the surgery, though that went well, but the time off). I cant wait till this time next year. As my parent said when they retired, I dont know how I manage to fit work in with all the other stuff going on. There are so many books to read, so…
