Following this! I need to check some of these out, especially the bodyweight/minimal equipment ones. Gotta preserve that muscle!

I'm at 1200 cals per day(desk job, lazy don't want to exercise lol) and I average 50+g/ day. Most of my lunch/dinners are at least half veggies, some protein and fat and a little or no carbs. Breakfast I always have a sm apple and steelcut oats or a shake(which I add ground flax and blueberries to for the fiber to keep me…

Most of those concoctions include maple syrup or honey to make it taste better, which would add calories. Other than that, probably all placebo effect/not likely to boost your metabolism. Some people swear by it and ACV in general so as long as it's not adding cals, it can't hurt.

Interesting!!!

Bunk for sure. Or "woo" as I've learned here, love this word haha!
-
Hahahahahha all the snot! Makes since to me lol!! The prego craving thing is probably legit, but maybe it was just for more protein/general calories for the baby over the iron etc?
-
I always crave sweets over salty, but now eating more veggies I definitely don't shy away from the salt and I love the flavor so much more. That does seem to be the rational for the meat/iron thing. I just don't see how our brains can make that connection and cause a craving for it. But maybe it can!

Same!! I feel like I could tell myself (based on the cravings chart) that oh I crave chocolate, must be low in _______ but really I just want it cause its delicious!!
-
Cool!!! Veeeery interesting on the protein front!
-
Opps I don't know how to post pictures here haha. Google "Cravings chart" and you'll see all the glorious pictures

I've been at 1200/day for a couple months now (sedentary, desk job and I don't work out) and the huge help for me is eating tons of veggies. Fiber is super important at such low cals. Also making sure to drink enough water and eat enough healthy fat. The fat can be tricky with lower cals but I've lowered my complex…

This is so true!!! Especially for fruits and veggies! I can see why people are so strict about weighing in grams on fats and protein and even grains cause those cals add up so quick. But fruits and veggies aren't quite as bad. I reeeally agree about the " knowing what a cup is" I was just thinking this the other day, that…

I live in Nevada and we have the nasoya spaghetti ones at walmart! But I haven't seen the Fettuccini ones anywhere!!!! Those look so good!! I need to find some other recipes for them with some kind of lower calorie creamy sauce yummmmmm

As a yummy lazy dinner I like to just make a simple ramen with some chicken or veggie broth, chicken or shrimp and the noodles. I use a whole bag if I'm really hungry(only 30 cals!!) Or half bag if only a little hungry. I personally love the chewy texture (I get the nasoya brand), they're almost exactly like ramen noodles.…

So much cake. My brother and moms bdays are today and a few days ago. Combo bday/ Vday party = white cake with strawbs and bluebs and real whipped cream, German choc cake, and coconut cream pie. Tried to eat less the rest of the day but not I'm not beating myself up about it. Also tried to limit portions, but cmon its…

If its within your first month or so thats normal. Probably mostly water weight, especially if your diet was pretty bad before. Also in general the more weight you have to lose, the faster it comes off in the beginning. As time goes on, make sure to log your foods to be sure you're not actually eating waaaay under. Keep it…

Mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes!! Just made a yummmmmy Shepard's Pie with ground chicken, frozen mixed vegetables and topped it with the mashed cauliflower... Heaven!!!! I've also done the cauliflower "fried rice" but it smells pretty bad grated up and isn't a greaaaaat equivalent to rice, but is still good…

It varies alot. I love soup with lots of veggies and some chicken. I make it myself so I control the flavor and additives and most canned soup is too salty to me, and expensive. I like doing the Bell peppers cooked down with onions and I'll usually add some cooked ground beef or turkey to it for some protein and eat it…

Agree! I just got on the salad topic and forgot to mention this! Sometimes it's actually easier to log a burger too.

My number one recommendation with salads is ask for dressing on the side. Dip your fork in it and then take a bite, you still get the flavor but alot less cals. Salads are pretty variable with cals and depending how many cals you have to "spend" on it, it can make or break your calorie bank. It can be a great on the go…

Dressings (esp Caesar types) can be very high cal, as well as all the delicious toppings like the parm cheese, croutons, etc. Was it fast food or sit down restaurant? Fast food you're probably safe assuming it'll be less cals, and bonus usually the dressing is in a packet on the side so you know the cals AND can use less…

Others will probably have more to say about this but as a quick note, be sure to weigh your nuts! I love nuts and usually 1 oz is about 160-180 cals! 1 oz is only about a 1/4 cup so your 1 cup of nuts for snack cals doesn't quite add up. My fave nut, almonds, for about 28 of them are 160 cals or so. 28 seems like alot but…

^^^ yep!! Also if you're eating more fruits and veggies, water is really important to prevent constipation, all that fiber needs water to keep it moving along haha. .5 fl oz per lb has been good for me so far. The thirst/hunger thing is real for sure. Also dehydration can cause headaches and who needs that.

I soooo hear you on the sibling eating issue! I'm the only one of my siblings that has to watch what I eat, very annoying! As far as vegetables go, try to have an open mind (forget you used to hate broccoli or whatever other veg when you were younger, hard I know haha) and try a new veg every week or so, look up recipes…

I think for people starting out it can be very daunting trying to figure out "how to eat". As everyone said you can eat "anything" and still lose weight. Which is true, but if you're like me (and most people) where you're used to eating waaaaaay larger portions of the "bad" (high calorie) foods, it can be hard to grasp…

The ones I got have no smell or taste. They are supposed to be rinsed. I know there are several different brands and some are prob better than others. The brand I got was "Nasoya" Pasta Zero Shirataki spaghetti.

Shiritake noodles are aweeeeesome. They're in the refrigerated area by the tofu in the grocery store. They're exactly like ramen noodles, they have the same al dente texture And you can cook them a little if you like softer. Zuchini noodles are ok, but they're NOT pasta. They're almost no calories (15 cals for about a cup…
