  • You're good. Might have really yellow urine for a few days from the B vitamins, but I wouldn't worry about it.
  • Your muscles have to have rest days to rebuild. I lift 3 days a week and cardio 2. That gives my muscles a chance to re-coup but I still get some good cardio in. Some days I lift heavy and then treadmill at a leisurely pace afterwards just for the walk. I find my muscles seem to re-coup faster when I do that also.
  • Which vitamins did you overtake?
  • Try cutting your deficit to 250 calories instead of 500 calories. Force yourself to exercise for a few days and eat back half of the those calories. See if that doesn't help the energy. I had to play around with my deficit in the beginning. -500 was too steep for me when I was starting to heavy lift and workout. Once I had…
  • Nice! So long as they don't do the pinky toes, acupuncture is awesome! Pinky toes? Not so much! They hurt! :s :#
  • @angie55575 did you gain weight when you went off of it? I take it on an "as needed" basis right now. Which means I usually take it on weekends, two or three days at ovulation, and 3-4 days during cycle or the week before my cycle. That seems to be working well for me. My crazy doctor just ups the dose when it stops…
  • I just noticed this week that there is a pattern to my hot flashes as well. I seem to get them when I ovulate and right before my cycle starts. Both times are on the downward swing of my hormones at that time. I'm guessing this must be a common occurrence? Sorry you get the nausea to go with them. :-( I'm thankful I…
  • Because the breakdown of foods, hormones, etc causes by-products that have to be excreted. A major diet overhaul creates more by-products that need to be excreted. When the other detox organs become "taxed" with the extra need to rid the body of these by-products it goes for the next available detox organ. The skin is an…
  • I actually asked someone this question the other day. I have quite a bit of loose skin on the inside of my upper thigh and measuring the top of my thigh is affected by how much I overlap the tape measure and let it "push" into the loose skin. I asked if anyone knew if we should "squish" the loose skin or just keep the tape…
  • I found that what causes a flare for one person, may be fine for another. The reason you may be seeing so much differing advice is each person will have their own triggers. So you really have to pay attention to when you eat how your body responds to those foods. Red meat more then once or twice a week is an issue for me.…
  • I am.
  • I've been using BFL off and on for years. I don't do his meal plan stuff, but the lifting is easy for me to follow and has always worked really well for me as I've lost weight. Your the first person I've heard of using it since I joined MFP. It's nice to find another BFL'er!
  • This has been my experience in a big way. While I personally believe all artificial sweeteners are bad for everyone, I also know that they don't effect everyone the same way and that's the part that I think people forget. It's two separate issues that people like to lump into one issue. There's the issue of 1) are they bad…
  • LOVE. Keep communicating. You guys are doing great if you got this far. Many partners can't even get to this point. Best wishes to you both!
  • We are going to have to agree to disagree. This is an excellent website that compares the differences between MD's, ND's, and naturepaths. http://www.thenddc.com/know-naturopathic-doctors/ There IS a difference between an ND and a naturepath, although most people do not separate the two. It is not pseudoscience, but I…
  • THIS. ^^^^^ 1000 times over, THIS. After years of dealing with MD's that are completely incompetent I finally found the solution to good health. Whatever an MD tells me to do, I do the exact opposite. I don't let them suggests tests, I tell them what tests they will run (if we need them). Because in the end, I pay them for…
  • Yep. This was the case for my DD. Combo of food allergies and needing digestive enzymes.
  • So if an MD decides to use both natural and standard medicine does it delegitimize them as a doctor? Or have they just figured out that standard medicine doesn't have all the answers and natural medicine isn't "woo?" There is nothing wrong with ND's that are well trained. I've said it 100 times before. There are good MD's…
  • Yes. Your body will adjust to what you put into it. When our family switched from a SAD to a whole foods diet it was a big adjustment. First our taste buds had to adjust. After awhile if we decide to have "treats" that we rarely eat (donut, sugar drink, etc), we usually pay for it. It doesn't taste good to us and usually…
  • Most people here preach science and ask your doctor, etc etc etc. But when the medical doctor decides there is merit to treating the body naturally and decides to become an ND also then they are no longer a valid source of information and help. Not only is that hypocritical but you've also just excommunicated a whole…
  • Can I suggest keeping your comments to the extent of "I love you and I'm worried about your health. The kids and I want you around for a very long time. Would you be willing to walk side by side with me and we work together to both get healthy so we can have each other for a very long time?" My husband I recently walked…
  • Wow. You look great for two weeks!
  • Very true. Every body is different. That's easy to forget sometimes. :p
  • I'm not sure why docs push fiber so much. Yes, it can be somewhat helpful, but fiber will often stop people up worse. Increasing fats in your diet and adding mag and/or enzymes (if needed) will avoid potential fiber stop up issues.
  • I have lifted weights off and on since my teens (I'm 47). When I started lifting this time it most definitely slowed my weight loss down. I tend to have way more water fluctuation then I did pre-lifting but I think I also look better as I'm losing. I think it might just come with the territory when you choose to lift while…
  • I've been in the natural realm of life for many years and have NEVER heard of this amongst any of my health groups, friends, etc. Something sounds "off" to me with this. When I look in my health books and even online the only time it appears magnesium causes any sort of rash is if there is an allergic reaction to the…
  • Curious if you lift at home or a gym? I lift and workout at Freedom Fitness.
  • THIS. ^^^^^ Nourishing Traditions is an excellent place to start. It will *feel* daunting at first, but the information she provides is very good and very healing to the body.
  • An "intolerance" causes an inflammatory response to something your body does not do well with. Eventually continuing to give your body something it is "intolerant" to leads to allergic reactions (an immune response) like hives in the long term. It may take awhile, but eventually the body will scream "uncle" and have a…
