  • For some reason part of my post got cut off. That's what I get for trying to type on my phone while on a treadmill. :D When I was researching trackers one of the things that struck me was the lack of reliability with the Fitbit. Way more people then not had to replace theirs in less then a year. I've had my Misfit 2+ years…
  • Hands down Misfit. I love that it runs on a battery (which I rarely have to replace). It's been pretty darn accurate for me. And it's very affordable. I got the Shine but they are out with the shine 2 now. But I'm cheap. I'd buy a new shine off eBay for half the cost of the shine 2.
  • Also, if your basal body temp is low have a FULL thyroid panel run.
  • I can almost guarantee you are not burning that many calories with your gym work. Try only eating back half your exercise calories and that may do it. If that doesn't work after a few weeks then don't eat back any of them. Also, make sure your logging is tight and you're weighing everything.
  • ^^^^Dead on.^^^^ I haven't read that book but will look at getting it. This past week the Lord has really illuminated my need to shore up my walk with Him a bit. It's easy to get complacent after being saved a long time. :#
  • Not a dietician but this is what I do - I weigh mine cooked with just the actual squash ("spaghetti"). I make a spaghetti squash mixed with chicken breasts and an artichoke italian dressing for dinner that's about 425 calories IIRC. I ran it through MFP recipe builder. So yummy!!
  • The bible says our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Many believers (including myself) believe that keeping the "temple" healthy so one is fully able to be used by God (not limited by sluggishness, ill health, etc) is very important. Probably, those that aren't Christians would either have difficulty understanding…
  • Even if it goes up and stays up some day, there are other ways besides meds of managing it. My husband would be on meds due to his if we were the med type but he manages to keep it nearly normal with other methods. So don't ever feel like your hemmed in to one option (meds).
  • And I highly highly recommend the book the diabetes solution by dr. Bernstein.
  • Yep. Same with mine. He just *thinks* he should lose weight and loses. :s
  • Mine was running 139/85 prior to starting to lose weight. Losing 15# brought it down to 120/70. I've never had to watch my salt intake in terms of bp but I do find that it is making a difference right now. I'm 47 and still have a lot to lose so I'm assuming I will be less sensitive to salt/bp fluctuations as I continue to…
  • Ah! My Irish/polish husband wondered if he was going to get it for dinner tonight. Then my daughter reminded him that the last time we had it (years ago - we use to have it several times a month) we all decided it just wasn't as good as our grass fed unbrined beef and we haven't had it since. My husband changed his mind…
  • Since I've been dealing with cholesterol issues since I was 11 (I'm 47 now) I'm going to chime in. Your HDL looks great. Most physicians are thrilled if someone has it at 50. Your total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides are high but they are not horrible and not insurmountable to fix with diet and exercise. My total…
  • Kasey, if you're interested in how some have dealt with this without medication, PM me. I'd be happy to tell you. I don't want to bug you via PM if you're not interested so I'll just open it up to you and leave it at that. There is HOPE though without meds so keep at it!
  • I can't have any dairy. I have egg protein and pea protein that I can use. The problem I have with them is I have to make a protein drink out of them and when I do that (especially to hit my protein macro) it ends up being almost 400 calories (one is 110 cals and the other 130 cals). I'd have to mix it with water to keep…
  • This isn't a "gain." Weight fluctuates day to day quite a bit. Usually it's water weight, stuff still processing through the intestines, etc. It's nothing to fluctuate 3-6lbs in a day for some people. It's very person dependent. You might try the a trending weight app for a more balanced view of what your weight is doing…
  • So are they helpful if you're NOT getting enough protein? I am lifting progressively 2-3 days a week with cardio those days also and I'm having the hardest time hitting my protein by quite a lot. I have my macros set at 20% protein and after checking last night, I'm averaging 13% over the last 60 days. I'm also struggling…
  • For me, I measure 7 different places. I figure I must not be hitting the same spot every time (except maybe my knees?) b/c after initially losing quite a lot of inches I haven't lost any in a long time. I think it HAS to do with where I'm measuring each time (not hitting the same spot) because I have loose skin at my knees…
  • I'm doing the same right now - although somewhat stalled. I've lost enough to lose a clothing size but my measurements really haven't changed much in almost 5 months. I lift weights 2-3 days a week and do cardio those days also so I wondered if every time I go to measure I'm just holding water so I don't see it on the tape…
  • It's a fatty acid and no. It can help your health in terms of adding fats to your body if you are needing them but it won't do a thing for weight loss. BTDT. Doesn't work.
  • I would venture to guess it's because food allergies to things like gluten and dairy have increased significantly and those two allergies alone can cause significant and painful bloating. Fructose malabsorption is also on the rise. It's actually very common for people to be diagnosed with celiac (after an intestinal…
  • This thread almost makes me laugh. If someone mentions something that differs from current scientific literature people freak out on them. And then in this thread some of those same ones are stating science isn't the be all, end all. Or readily admit that it changes often. But whoa to the person that sites someone that is…
  • Look into fructose malabsorption and/or gluten or dairy allergies. All of those are known to cause bloating that can be quite painful. And all of them can be tested for.
  • That's a boost that REALLY helps after a long pregnancy and delivery. Yay! So glad you're getting to see the fluid go away so quickly in spite of the long, hard road.
  • If you're going to vax, at least be informed. Don't just read one page, read the entire insert.......then if you choose to vax, you are at least fully informed to the best extent available. http://www.vaccinesafety.edu/package_inserts.htm
  • No. You are wrong. This is the FDA's drug insert for one of the chicken pox vaccines. See section 5.4. https://www.fda.gov/downloads/BiologicsBloodVaccines/Vaccines/ApprovedProducts/UCM142812.pdf "Post-marketing experience suggests that transmission of vaccine virus may occur rarely between healthy vaccinees who develop a…
  • I had to do this as a gestational diabetic. I found it a bit daunting, to be honest, but I think you can use this to your advantage as incentive to start losing weight. Realistically, testing and shots probably added about 5-6 minutes to a mealtime. So it's not that it's time consuming so much as it's a different routine…
  • I also have PCOS and insulin resistance and I have to agree with kommodevaran. I would look at increasing your fats and proteins for satiety with mid-range carbs for blood sugar balance with your meals. If you absolutely need a snack between meals then I think you need to just work that into your calories for the day, not…
  • Check the ingredients in floradix iron with herbs. It is a highly absorbable form of iron and I presume safe with nursing because all of my anemic friends use it when both pregnant and nursing (although you should verify bc every doc is different). It comes in both liquid and pills. Also cell salt #4 as it will help your…
