Yeah... I've read the same thing, that dogs especially need to know where they stand in the family hierarchy and you need to be consistent with this. I've read that people with cats will make sure to make a fuss of the cats first, when they come home from work or whatever, and completely ignore the dog until the cats have…

I'm sorry for your loss. :( I hope the rest of your visit goes well.

Have you had a puppy before? Are you perhaps nervous about taking good care of her and being a great pet-parent, or something like that? I don't have an answer for you, I'm afraid - what works seems to be different for everyone. Perhaps make yourself a warm drink and try to relax and enjoy it for a few minutes? If you like…

And ditto for you too - way to go!

What an awesome start! :)

Hello all! I'm Sue, and I need to lose the extra pounds I've regained over the past few months. I'd lost around 75lbs by last summer, and for various reasons have put 15 of them back on. I want to get rid of those and continue on downwards to my ultimate goal, and I need some extra encouragement to get there! :) I've been…

That's interesting to know! Over the last couple of years I've started having a bit of discomfort with breathing if I was trying to walk or anything like that when the fires were bad, so I'll keep that in mind. (Southern Alberta here, the skies are orangey-grey and the smell of smoke is quite strong outside, but visibility…

Thank you for explaining! I do need to get my step count up, but need to work on one habit at a time I think. So for now I'll just stay with trying to keep a deficit and lose a couple of pounds. :)

I'd said Wednesdays and 159.5lbs when I joined, and my weight today was the same (having bobbed about a bit over the past few days) so I'm good with that! Also, I've managed seven whole days of logging! I feel ridiculously proud of myself, even though I've still been aiming for maintenance calories. Only a little…

I think you can pretty much wear what you like - from what I read last year, when I had to buy something, the general idea is not to upstage the bride and to avoid white/cream (especially in lace), but otherwise whatever you feel happy and confident in. :) I ended up with this dress for my ex-colleague's wedding last…

See if anything here helps you at all - plenty of good advice. :) https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p1

So gorgeous! Looks like a little scamp though... good luck!

I'm hypoglycemic and get a bit shaky like this when my blood sugar drops, but I don't think I've experienced tremors outside of that except for a couple of occasions when I was extremely nervous/scared about something. If you recently ate, then I'd guess it's unlikely to be your blood sugar. If you've been experiencing…

Yep, condiments can add up! Someone posted this picture on their profile the other day... Definitely get a scale and weigh everything. Measure everything else that isn't solid enough to weigh. It really is worth it.

I actually logged all my food yesterday... even the handful of chips that my husband gave me last night after I'd closed out my diary and which put me over goal. It's a start... baby steps, right? :)

Surprise custard is the best kind. :) Unless it's in something that you really don't want to find it in, I guess... ;)

That's awesome! :)

@gagirl115 I haven't seen many people say they feel it's worth paying for premium. I'd wait a while and see how you like the app before you start paying for something you probably don't need. For your other questions about logging your food and so on, check out these threads:…

@BMcC9 Thank you for the link, that was an interesting read. I'll try to give some thought to those points. (I didn't receive a PM, by the way, but there's a bug where sometimes they don't come through if the sender isn't on your friends list. I got all the info from the thread so it's not a problem.) @Terytha I've done…

@jugar If it was easy we'd all be slim and fit, right? :) I know what to do... it's the actual doing of it that's the issue! I guess I should add that my weigh in day will be Wednesdays, and my goal weight is somewhere around 135-138lbs. I have a thing about wanting to be under 140. I'm going to spend the time until June 1…

Hello everyone, thank you for the welcome! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. A bit about me... I joined MFP in January 2016, after losing just a couple of pounds from my highest weight of somewhere around 220lbs. Over the course of the next couple of years I lost slowly but surely, mainly by calorie deficit…

Okay then, here's a genuine question - exactly how do you think doing this is going to help anyone here, especially newbies? Unless, of course, your aim is to give other people the benefit of all the corrective responses from people who actually know what they're talking about because they've walked the walk for years and…

It's entirely possible! Since OP hasn't come back to clarify, I guess we'll never know for sure. (Which makes me more inclined to think she wasn't joking, rather than less, but that's just me. :) )

It can be hard to ascertain tone in a written post, true. But OP's overly-dramatic language ("internal gibbering", "watch in horror", etc.) and her assertion that she "just had to share" does make it seem as if she's somehow proud of herself for prevailing upon a clearly-distressed server to get what she wanted. To the OP…

Please don't do this. Weigh yourself once a day at the most, and always at the same time and under the same circumstances (e.g. in the morning, after using the bathroom but before breakfast). Preferably use a trending weight app like Libra or Happy Scale to smooth out the inevitable lumps and bumps... for the majority of…

The bolded comment is something that I don't think gets mentioned often. Especially for women, at least so I've read, they can find they start getting more attention than they're used to once they lose weight. For some, it's unwanted and very unwelcome. Those women start to feel that their fat was their defense against…

I like this apple cake: https://aseasyasapplepie.com/low-fat-apple-cake/ Edit: I also made a version last week using a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend instead of AP flour and it turned out well.

This. I can understand not wanting to pay extra if the dress was already expensive, but on the other hand it would be a shame to have an expensive dress you can't wear! Especially if you love it. Having it altered would be far less stressful emotionally and physically than trying to drop 10lbs in a month and panicking that…

This is very sad to read. It's possible to enjoy food without going overboard - sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge, but it's possible! I'm sorry you're not in that place mentally yet, but I hope you find something that works for you.
