  • Thank you - I didn't want to just vanish without saying anything! And perhaps at some point, this sort of thing WILL be good for me, but as Aragorn said, "Today is not that day." ;)
  • @jugar I'd like you to remove me from the challenge group, please - you can put me on the "cheer squad" if you'd like, but I won't be participating for the foreseeable future. You are all a fabulous bunch of people, and I wish you all the best with your goals! I thought that this group would be a good thing for me, as…
  • That's completely individual - some smaller, shorter people (especially when sedentary) do fine on that amount. The OP should do as suggested, set up her profile correctly and eat the amount of calories given for a 0.5lb/week loss. She can adjust in a few weeks based on her results if she's not losing at the expected rate.…
  • At least three of those four options can have quite a substantial number of calories if one isn't careful about portion sizes. Some vegetables aren't exactly low cal either.
  • Username: SueSueDio August week 2 weigh in CW: 161.5lbs Aaaaand - the same as last week. I was a bit lower a few days ago, but I'd bet that if I changed my weigh in day back to Wednesday I'd start jumping up midweek again! I've not been very well this week and haven't made good food choices as a result (and very little…
  • It might help to allow for a sweet treat every evening in your calorie allowance? Having something to look forward to, that you know is already accounted for, might help you to avoid sneaking extra treats earlier in the day.
  • Big hugs. The first time my parents' "anniversary" passed without me specifically remembering the days (Dad died a couple of days before the 3rd anniversary of Mum's death), I felt SO guilty for forgetting. I think maybe it's always sad to remember those we've lost, but it gets less painful as time goes on. It's been 11…
  • I used to get those comments too, when I didn't want to eat something. And I did use that response more than once! I rarely got a smack for it, but I often got told off for talking back to my mum. Didn't make any difference to my refusal to eat things I didn't like, though!
  • Chalk it up to experience and move on - you know what you need to do less of, and what to do more of! And at least you were honest and logged it, so there's that. If you need a reminder, check out the stickies! Especially this one:…
  • Username: SueSueDio August week 1 weigh in CW: 161.5lbs I guess I have maintenance down, huh? ;)
  • The dog the OP was talking about was an emotional support animal, but the person that @hotel4dogs was responding to implied that all service dogs were subjected to terrible lives of servitude and the whole concept was therefore unethical.
  • As far as I'm aware, "veganism" is considered an ethical stance rather than a diet - vegans will not consume or otherwise use any animal products, including leather goods etc. A person who chooses to eat a diet completely free from animal products (for health or preference) but without the accompanying ethical viewpoint is…
  • *raises hand* I don't know how! (I don't even own a pair of cowboy boots, although I look every Stampede for a cheap pair in the thrift stores... :) ) In my defence, though, I'm not FROM here so that counts for something, right...? ;)
  • I'm sorry if this is rude, but they sound like very strange people! Why does poor health require them to use the kitchen in total solitude? Anyway, good luck and it sounds like you have a plan figured out to deal with this.
  • I know - but I figured it might be helpful to the person who did mention it. :) (And maybe the OP does want abs! I mean, how can we tell, right now, what she wants? :) )
  • Here ya go! :) https://www.precisionnutrition.com/cost-of-getting-lean-infographic
  • Ditto! If no one knows what you've been trying, or what results you want to see, it's kinda hard to offer advice...
  • After a bit of thought, I suspect it's a perspective thing and the cheese isn't really that huge (just held close to the camera) - but the photo amused me! :)
  • Did someone say "big cheese"??? ;)
  • Welcome! Weight loss is all about the calories - exercise is great for fitness so keep at it, but it won't necessarily help you lose the weight you want to lose. Get yourself a food scale, set up your profile here appropriately, check out the stickied forum posts to get started, and ask for help if you need it. These are…
  • Congratulations on your babies, and welcome! You can absolutely do this - check out the stickied forum posts to get started, and ask for help if you need it. These are particularly good: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300331/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads#latest…
  • @Perla4686 I hope you feel better soon! @Terytha Sounds like that gym could be a good fit, and I love that your trainer has already been through a substantial weight loss so he can relate to others. I hope you enjoy going! @BMcC9 Good luck in your future endeavors! :)
  • Most of your post is decent advice, but this bit is unnecessary. Unless the OP has a medical reason to limit her sugar or carbs it's not a big deal, especially when starting out. Many people here have lost weight - and kept it off - with a high carb diet because that's what they prefer. She needs to get a handle on how…

  • Congrats, everybody!
  • Maybe... just to confirm that it really IS as disgusting as it sounds... ;) I wouldn't pay money for it though!
  • I had this issue too - things I loved or that I'd kept for sentimental reasons as much as anything else, and now they're just not flattering at all! I'll still keep the dress I wore on the first blind date with my husband of 30 years, but I'll never wear it again. :)
  • Is this a real thing? If so, just... why? Why would anyone think that was a good thing to make?
  • Hello all - I'm Sue, a Brit living in Alberta. :) I lost about 75lbs over the course of a couple of years and was only a few pounds from my goal weight last summer. I put on about 5lbs over the winter, which I expected and was okay with, but then life hit me hard this spring and emotional eating helped me to regain another…
