  • I've just decided that I need more friends too! I'm down just over 18lbs and log daily. Add me if you like!
  • Breathing is hard!! It took me a few weeks to get back into the swing of breathing properly during freestyle. I'm still working on not turning my head too far out of the water. There are some great Youtube videos that I found helped me remember proper form. Next step: bilateral breathing!
  • I find the most rewarding workouts are the ones I don't feel like doing in the first place. ;) Last night I swam the full kilometer. It's getting easier! Last night I did ALL my lengths in 50m intervals instead of mini breaks at every 25m. So proud of myself! Though I do need to work on my flip turns.
  • I eat the same thing every morning, and have been for like 2 years. Greek yogurt with ground flax mixed in, over pineapple and almonds. I don't have to think about it. It's light, is a good balance and does me until about 3pm when I have a snack.

  • I eat 2 tbsp of ground flax every morning in my yogurt. Since I started that a couple years ago I've had no problems at all.
  • Just got back from tonight's swim. I started working on swimming 50m without stopping at the end of the length. The first couple were difficult, but after I got my pacing and breathing in check it went well. I find it takes me a solid 15 lengths before I'm warmed up. Maybe I should go for a brisk short walk before…
  • The first time I lost a substantial amount of weight (70lbs) I did it without exercising. Loosing weight and exercising do not go hand in hand. Loosing weight is all about food and calories.
  • Your body isn't a machine. It won't react exactly as predicted every time. It will however reward you for treating it right over the long term. 10 lbs in a month is fantastic. Keep doing what you're doing. Great Work!
  • I noticed that too. It irritates me. The only thing I can think of is that UA didn't develop either app, and the algorithms are different. As for which one is correct? I have no clue. I want to go with the lower calorie burn option to be safe, but hate having to put the info into MFP manually when it does it automatically…
  • You'll do great!! Have fun!
  • It came very very close to what MFP gives me. The high is just above what I use here at 1.5 lbs loss a week and the low is just above what MFP gives me for a 2 lbs a week loss. I think it must work better when you have a higher body fat %.
  • I was vegetarian for a couple years. I loved it. It just wasn't sustainable for me to cook a meal for myself and a separate one for my hubby, I was always taking my own meals to family gatherings and was called rude for it, but would starve if I ate what was served minus meat. It ended up being too difficult for me. I say…
  • My pool has rules posted and lane speed marked with lane swim etiquette right on the marker. For the most part, people follow etiquette. Kids??? Wow, that's ballsy. There's this guy, swims in the lane next to me. My friend and I affectionately call him McSplashy. I've never seen anyone splash so much while swimming. It's…
  • It depends on the pool and what folks are used to doing. At the pool I go to we only circle swim if there is 3 or more people in a lane. Otherwise we just pick a side. Talk to those you're sharing a lane with. Every pool I've been to has fast, medium and slow lanes. Please choose the right lane. lol Especially if you're…
  • Riding in a cart? I golf, and when we ride in a cart I honestly can't see burning enough calories to even track them. Unless I'm beating my club against a tree after a bad shot I doubt my heart rate raises much at all.

  • Swimming works for me because I love doing it. In the past I've only exercised because I thought I had to, I didn't enjoy it so I never stuck with it. Swimming is different for me. It's a great full body workout, you can tailor it any way you like, using different tools to focus on arms or legs. That being said. Has it…
  • I only eat something light about an hour and a half before I swim. Salad, sometimes a protein bar or some nuts. I can't swim with more than that in my stomach. I eat afterwards.
  • This is why weighing is so important. You're doing it right, weigh the food and count the calories.
  • We use the flutter board as a "break" in the middle of our laps. Still working the legs and keeps the heart rate up, so counts in my books! lol
  • The pool I go to has all these available to use for free. So far I only use the flutter board, but plan on incorporating the others in at some point in the future when plain old swimming doesn't almost kill me. lol
  • I wish I could swim every day :( The indoor pool only has evening lane swims twice a week. I can't wait until the outdoor pool in town opens. Then it's every night for me!!
  • I just started swimming again about 5 weeks ago :D My first goal was to swim a kilometer, which I did this past Thursday! It took about 50-55mins. My next goal is to reduce the time it takes to get through the 40 lengths, not so much by increasing speed (yet), but reducing breaks. After that I plan on developing workout…
  • Mostly front crawl. Back stroke to change it up and breast stroke when I need a break. I haven't done butterfly in years, I imagine it would be a disaster if I tried.
  • Thanks!! I'm off to join the group :) Haha. Funny man. ;)
  • It's normal for me to not see any loss when I have my period or even a small gain. But my body always catches up the next week as long as I stick to eating healthy and exercising.
