  • I was very successful last year, then got derailed over the summer with new work hours and other family stress. I gained about 20 lbs since April!! I too want to loose 70-75lbs. Least I'm not starting from scratch this time.
  • I use Youtube. I'm partial to Yoga with Adriene but there's an abundance of videos on there.
  • My doctor told me to expect to get more colds this winter than I'm used to because I'm actively loosing weight. I didn't believe her. She was right. I normally don't get sick, maybe once every other year. I've had 4 colds already this winter. My diet is balanced. It could be a coincidence, it might not be. But that's my…
  • I just started. My third workout is tomorrow. Hopefully a few others show interest and we can revitalize that group!
  • Swimming is a fantastic calorie burn for me. Realistically though. The best exercises are the ones you enjoy and will stick to. It's all fine and dandy to say running, swimming, hiit etc is best but if you hate it (like I hate running), you just won't do it over the long term.
  • Thank you. :) That's what my plan is anyhow!
  • That's perfect! Makes so much sense. Thank you for clearing up what I sorta knew but couldn't pair with what I was reading.
  • Yes. You're making it too complicated. It's not complicated. Eat and log. Or log and eat. It's not easy forgetting everything we thought we knew. Make MFP your plan. Log religiously. Don't look at fats, sugars, carbs or any of that stuff right now. Focus on calories. You'll see some great newbie losses in the first couple…
  • I successfully lost 45lbs with WW Online 11 years ago. Since then their points system has changed. The new system imo is hogwash (I did a free trial). MFP works the same as the old system did, and is actually much simpler, you're just dealing with bigger numbers and it's free!
  • Up in the Owen Sound area! Add me if you want!
  • Yep, same here. It has calmed down now 7 months in.
  • I sometimes have days like this. We're human, as much as we'd like every day to be consistently the same it's near impossible. As long as it's as rare as you say it is, it's not a big deal. Don't fudge your diary, just don't close it out at the end of the day, there's no rule saying you have to hit that little button at…
  • Feel free to add me! I was 260 at the end of April, now I'm 217. I don't have 100+ to loose anymore!!!
  • Oh no!! I kicked some poor guy in the pool tonight! My whip kick takes up a lot of room... oh man. To be fair to me, he was coming up behind me. But, I drifted into the center of the lane instead of sharing. Sighs. Good thing he's a nice guy and didn't care. Told me there was no need to apologize, that he's a farmer and I…
  • Rural Ontario. Close to the some of the best beaches!!
  • I have a wedding this weekend. I discovered none of my dresses fit. I raided my niece's closet (she has gone from a size 16 to a size 8) for old clothes and found a dress she never wore. Put it on and it fits! It's an XL. XL from a regular store! 6 months ago I was a size 20 from the big girl store!! It's a wee bit snug in…
  • I think I might get a spandex cap for the summer. @lorrpb Is it cooler?
  • I don't eat much before getting in the pool. I don't like the feeling of swimming on a full stomach. So I'll just grab a protein bar and eat something more substantial afterwards. For everything else, biking and body weight exercising, I just eat normally.
  • Are you restricting yourself too much? How much do you want to loose? Be realistic with yourself, for a lot of people 2lbs a week is too much of a calorie deficit. Personally, I find counting calories empowering, you ARE in control of you. Try saving some cals for an evening snack. I'm an evening snacker too (or I was, not…
  • Nope, didn't do my ears in. Feels too weird. lol I had a great swim tonight! The first 10 lengths are the hardest. After that it's all downhill, feels like I could just keep swimming forever after those 10. heh, every time I say "just keep swimming" I get Dory stuck in my head. I'm a looser. hahahaha
  • Well I like the sound of that!!! I'm going to try ears in tomorrow night. See how that goes.
  • Plough through. My body played with the same 4 pounds for almost 6 weeks. I just kept doing what I do. Then all of a sudden, boom, in 2 weeks I've lost almost 10bs! My weekly average is still under 1% of my body weight so I'm not concerned it's too fast. It's like my body has decided it's time to continue on.
  • I've read a bunch of reviews. It's still really early in the release so not many have actually used it in the pool yet. I read that it can be a little "off" if you stop a lot. lol. I stop a lot. But it's a good price and I think will suit my needs for now. It's a pretty basic activity tracker. That's all I need is basic. I…
  • Have you tried pre-logging your food every day? Meal planning for the week can take a lot of pressure off not just food tracking but life in general. Plan your menu, grocery shop, put the menu on the fridge and follow it. I find allowing myself a treat helps immensely. I keep a bar of dark chocolate and have a square or…
  • I eat the same thing every morning, have been for years. Fresh pineapple, greek yogurt, almonds and ground flax. It's a habit. Funny thing is. I couldn't get pineapple for some reason for a couple weeks and within 5 days I got the first cold I've had in years. I swear the vitamin C in the pineapple keeps me healthy.
  • Sounds like a charley horse?? See how much potassium you're getting in your diet. They say a banana a day keeps cramps away! Are you properly hydrated? Are you stretching properly before and after exercise? Was it in your calf? That's where I usually get them. For post charley horse pain the only thing I can suggest is…
  • I swim at least 45 mins. My goal every time I go is at least 1km. That used to be a struggle but now I just do it. So, I probably need a new goal. My order from Swimco came in! The cap is awesome. My hair still gets damp but I think that's inevitable. The suit I ordered is ever so slightly too small. I have a long torso…
  • Butterfly was my specialty when I was a kid. Emphasis on KID.... I haven't even attempted it since I was 12. lol You're braver than I. Youtube to the rescue?!?!?! The cap was a bust. Problem #1 - I'm allergic to latex, so I had to spend a lot on a silicone one. Probem #2 - It doesn't stay put. Problem #3 - the top fills…
  • I'll know tomorrow night how it goes! I actually went and bought a new pair of goggles and broke down and bought a swim cap too. I don't like feeling confined so it might be interesting. But I don't want to leave the pool in the middle of winter when it's freezing cold with wet hair. So, it's worth a shot.
  • Hi!!! Welcome!!! I love it. I just got back into the pool in April after a 20 year break. You'll be surprised how quickly you remember and progress.
