That's EXACTLY my plan. I'm back of the pack anyway, so I figure I should use it to my advantage.

More training, especially the downhills, to get your quads used to it, epsom salt baths, drinking tart cherry juice, foam rolling. I have a 50k on Saturday and a big ultra in 3 weeks, I know the feeling.
-
self care and making sure you are healthy are important parts of running/training. You are taking care of you, and that's important!
-
So, there's supposed to be 8 inches of snow from tomorrow morning through Saturday morning, right where my Saturday race is.... Seems like a decent amount of people are dropping already... AG placement for slow old me??? Bring it on!

Jurek goes for 180 consistently. He switches stride length to keep it the same almost no matter what.

This was at the end of the Pre-Race Email I got today: Stuff like this is why I run what In run. It's all about pushing boundaries and seeing just what I can do!
-
um.... that's nice weather for me... I was running in -27F this winter...LOL... Thanks

END-SURE 50k coming up on Saturday.

The only time I enjoy canada geese is after theyve been marinated in red wine and cooked in butter.
-
The problem around here is wolves and the occasional cougar... and Moose, when they are around. They can be VERY cranky animals. A lot of the trails here are multi-use, and ripping them up wrecks it for the MTB guys, so we stay off until things dry out after the thaw.
-
hahahahahahahaha. Bugs don't bug me...LOL.... heat I can cope with. I just don't likt trashing trails that rean't really runnable, since it ruins it for everyone else.
-
Great job getting in all the distance! I have a love/hate relationship with spring. The warmer temps are nice, but having trails that are less runnable than either winter or summer is hard.
-
@7lenny7 yeah, it's going to be a slog. From their FB posts, there's a mix of dry, slush, mud, deep snow, puddles... basically about everything you could think of on a flat course. Saturday is going to be a "fun" training run.

you should have nicer weather, more training, and, I'm guessing a better course for it. You got it. Relax and run with confidence.

Man up. The second is just a 5k. Shorts and shoes for that one is all youll need >:)
-
you're totally going to pass your goal. You got this!
-
easy effort.... I'm not so good at that....LOL.... I think my effort was right on the border of easy and moderate
-
Yeah, this time sucks. Add to that the fact that a lot of trails are gettng messy, making for less running, and this is my least favorite time of year as far as road/trail conditions.
-
Welcome to the club of crazy. I did basically the same thing with my first trail races. nothing like jumping in with both feet.
-
@PastorVincent thanks for sharing on your OM experience. I am looking at getting the one you have, since I'm a bottle guy, and I need something that is a bit smaller than my full vest, for the summer months when I'll want less pack on me.
