There's also the fact that I don't run marathons any more... I don't really like them. But really, when it comes to crazy, Mine is pretty out there, even for the folks in this group....I kind of know that I belong in Arkham Asylum.
-
My second marathon, 4 weeks after my first marathon, was a trail marathon. I'd say go for it. But, my level of crazy is several orders of magnitude beyone most on here.

Ramping up for HM training will help with the weight loss goal too. As long as you're fueling enough, you can safely keep losing weight while you are training, it often just comes naturally. Awesome work, and keep it up.

Hi all! popping in to, to say hello. Ramping up training some, getting ready for my 2 bigger adventures this year, and rehabbing the adductor issue I've had for the last year. Life is crazy so I don't get onto here much like I used to, but I'm always reachable through messaging on here or on FB

ultra training doesn't have to be much more than marathon training. A lot depends on the course. what races are you running? Do you have any experience beyond marathon distance? it's a HUGE difference going from 26.2 to 100+ I've been running ultras for a couple years. I ran 1 in 2017, 5 in 2018, and went down to 3 last…

nope, I eat everything. taking the time needed for rebuilding after getting into ketosis just didn't fit into my schedule. Oddly enough, I am on a vegetarian kick right nw, but that's to help break the psychological bonds of Hardee's hamburgers.

Yeah, it was interesting, and, yeah, from a treatment position, I prefer treating trauma, it's more straight forward. With the pelvis and leg, it was automatic litter carry, going A&Ox2 was just the icing on the cake. We were out there a while figuring it out. Got lots of practice taking vitals. Other patient was a slight…

Falling out of trees is such a staple. Our last scenario was a moron who was climbing trees and fell. Open fracture right femur, broken pelvis, chest trauma, head trauma, ANO1-2 depending. It was a simulated SAR so we had full gear, but getting him extracted from tree branches, on the litter and then to the HLZ, was…

I might get some, just in case. Before I had WFR, when I was WFA, we learned about how to get the extra epi out of the pens. Not part of normal curriculum, but you know.... Benadryl is part of my normal carry bag. Extra epi is high on my priority due to the bee sting incident at my last race, where the runner didn't…

@T1DCarnivoreRunner wow, sounds like you had quite a bit stacked against you. you did an awesome job getting through it, and managing your insulin/glucose issues. side note, I do some medical at races, trail races in particular, would having some u-100 syringes in my bag be worth something worth having, on the off chance I…

@PastorVincent awesome job, congrats on the PR! I'm nowhere near that pace on a 5k. @7lenny7 sounds like you had a lot of things stacked against you. You still did great. Awesome running.
-
you've got time, but I'd say that for a marathon training program, you want to be up to like 30 miles a week, minimum, before starting.
-
Had my crew take notes after each section. made things easier.

Here's a big part of my "why" My mom, paced me the last 7 miles, over some gnarly climbs. My little man wants to be a trail runner like daddy. My wife picks up slack on those Saturday and Sunday mornings when I'm out running, and encourages me to do more, supporting all my craziness.

How to look glamorous. Run/hike 77 miles, then eat bacon and a chocolate gel, off of a paper plate...LOL
-
sounds like a great plan to me!
-
haha. just wait until next year, for a REALLY big RR
-
Not polished, but here's my basic RR for Superior, along with an open invitation for anyone who has any questions on the race, 100 mile racing, etc... https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10764948/superior-rr-and-q-a/p1?new=1

Finland toSonju Lake Road 7.5 miles Finland to Sonju is an uphill section. You slowly climb until you reach the highest point of the course, near Egge lake. It feels odd, knowing, with big climbs at Carlton, Moose and Oberg still to come, that everything else in the course is downhill from here. It’s a good section. It can…

First run after Superior was this morning. Coach had an easy 45min on the schedule. 3.6 miles, 789ft gain. slower than normal, but my calves still feel heavy 10 days after the race. to be expected. Felt good getting out there. I know I could have run 6 days ago, but coach is big on recovery and longevity in running, so I…

@quilteryoyo I signed up for Bigfoot 200. I ran a 100 last year (in a blizzard) and another 100 this year. Between October of 17 and now, I've fun something like 9 ultras, from 50k to 100 miles. I can't go fast, so I go ridiculously long.
-
@PastorVincent nice pictures!
-
don't worry. Only "joggers" find bodies, not runners. Just keep reminding yourself that you're a runner and it's all good.
-
insanity is my friend running the triple crown... I'm jealous.
-
since it's going to be so tough, technically I'm starting training for my race on 8/7/2020
-
@ariceroni 50k are fun. Nice running today, you've got plenty of time to rock your ultra!
-
sounds like a super busy time for you! Hopefully you do get some rest today/tonight. Sounds like you have an awesome plan, incorporating your weight program into your morning routine. Before you know it, It'll be just another part of your day.

forecasts always lie. Nice running

keeping busy is a good way to keep sane...LOL...... Though I know several people who run 100s on HM distance training because work/family/volunteering doesn't allow more..... the pain cave is an old friend to them. That said. You get in what you can, and you run what you like to run, and that's the most important part. All…
