  • I started six months ago an in my first two weeks I lost 6 pounds. My calorie goal is set for 2 pounds a week. As long as you are eating the calories recommended I wouldn't worry. Overall for the past six months I have averaged about 1.7 pounds per week with a low of 1/2 pound in a week and a high of 4.5 pounds in a week.
  • I weigh every Monday morning after the bathroom and before eating or drinking anything. Always wear the same type of clothing and shoes also so their weight is consistent.
  • I eat pretty much anything I want but stay within my calorie goal of course. I have cut out pastries and limit fried foods.
  • For anything cooked in a pan I use cooking spray now instead of oil. It is fat free and calorie free.
  • Thanks. I also use a digital kitchen scale and weigh my food. Some items like canned goods I learned how many tablespoons were a serving so don't always weigh them now. But I do always weigh any meat, fish, etc. For meat I pull it off the bone so I am only weighing what I will eat. If I scan a barcode on an item I haven't…

  • Yes, any exericise you log on MFP is synced to your fitbit account. If you long on the fitbit website you should see the exercise entry there as well.
  • Welcome to MFP. Setup your info in MFP to get your daily calorie goal. If you don't already have one I recommend getting a digital kitchen scale and weighing your food as I do. If you scan a barcode on an item to add to a meal and it is the first time check the nutrition data on the site and compare it to the label.…
  • I have an office job as well and sit at a computer all day. I started counting calories about 6 months ago and have lost 45 pounds so far with no exercise until two weeks ago when I bought an exercise bike. I'm starting exercise to build to be healthier and build strength and endurance.
  • I tried 3 new scales and two of them would weigh about 2 pounds heavier than the 3rd scale. Those two scales would sometimes give different readings each time you stepped on it. I tested them weighing on the tile in the bathroom and on the linoleum in the kitchen. The 3rd one was also close to the weight of my old scale…
  • I have a set of these that I got on Amazon. It comes as a set of three and the inside dividers are individual containers so you can make the box one large container by taking the individual ones out. Or you can make it 2, 3 or 4 compartment depending on the container you place in the large container.

  • I have Samsung S Health on my S7 phone. The problem is that S Health doesn't have a setting to adjust your stride in inches. I have a FitBit and you can adjust the stride in the settings on your profile page at their website. I would walk and count your steps and compare that to what S Health counted.
  • I tried Google Fit on my phone and compared it to SHealth and Pacer and found it to be counting a lot more steps than the other two. Google Fit and SHealth don't have a setting for your stride in inches. I don't think Pacer did either. I uninstalled Pacer and Google Fit. I have FitBit now. I also have Map My Fitness…

  • The max heart rate calculation used for exercise is usually 220- your age. So 220-47=173 for max. The target zone would be between 50 to 85% of that number or 86 to 147. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/HealthyLiving/PhysicalActivity/FitnessBasics/Target-Heart-Rates_UCM_434341_Article.jsp#.Vx1vOUfLosJ

  • I just purchased a new Nautilus bike a couple of weeks ago and also got the Polar H7 chest strap. The rate has heart rate sensors on the handles. You setup your user profile on the bike (weight, height, age, gender, etc.). I have found the heart rate on the bike console and the Polar Beat app for for H7 to be right on with…
  • Weight will fluctuate from day to day. You can be up or down depending on how much you ate and drank the day before. I have tested it myself, weigh at bedtime and then first thing in the morning and down 3 pounds. This is because your body has started processing the food from the day before I assume. It will drop more…

  • Anyone that wants to add me, feel free.
  • Roasted Kale - someone at work had it and the taste was awful. Leaves a bad after taste in your mouth as well.
  • I just got a new Nautilus exercise bike last week and haven't felt any impact on my feet. It has a holder for a tablet also. I place my tablet on it and pull up a bike trail or bike trainer video on Youtube. It eliminates the boredom, for me anyway.
  • Yes, I count everything, even condiments.
  • Whenever I eat something new I haven't had before I scan the barcode on the package then on the app press the nutrition button to expand the details. I check all the info in the database listing against the Nutrition Data label on the product. If it isn't correct I will either create a new entry or go to my computer and…

  • Welcome to MFP.
  • Click on "Apps" on the top menu and it will shows you all those that can be synced with MFP.
  • Don't worry about what others tell you. Tell them to do it themselves and prove it to you. You don't have to exercise to lose weight. As of last week I have been on my diet for 25 weeks and have lost 42 pounds. That is with no exercise and just following the calorie goal that MFP gave me. Exercise has it's obvious benefits…
