  • I log everything. I log diet sodas because it has sodium and I want to keep track of that.
  • There are several brands that I have heart rate tracking. I have the Fitbit Charge HR and really like it. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Fitbit Blaze.
  • As others stated the MFP calories burned are an average for the exercise and intensity level that you choose. It doesn't account for your heart rate level or walking up hills. The most accurate method is to use a heart rate chest strap. The next option would be wrist HR monitor such as the Fitbit Charge HR, Fitbit Blaze or…
  • The ones with a HR monitor will give you a more accurate calorie burn estimate. I have the Charge HR and have been thinking about the Blaze. It looks more stylish and you can get different bands although I have heard some say they thought the size of it was a little large. In the manual for my HR it states when exercising…
  • You can do it. The first six months of my diet I lost 42 pounds just by calorie counting, no exercise at all. I only recently started exercising. I eat anything I want with a couple of adjustments. I have limited fried foods to cut down on saturated fats and I replaced pastries and desserts with fresh fruit or low calorie…
  • I use Mrs. Dash as well in all the different spice varieties. They are Sodium free.
  • Yes, as you lose weight you will burn less calories for the length and intensity of exercise since you are no longer carrying around all that extra weight. Check it out with the calorie burn calculators below. Note: The calculators will give you the average range for the intensity level that you choose, same for the…
  • In the Fitbit app under settings you can set your actual stride length for walking or running. Also on the Fitbit app for Android you can go to "Track Your Exercise" and click on the stopwatch icon in the upper right corner. Choose your activity (walk, run or hike), then click the red arrow in the lower right. This will…
  • When you add an entry from the food database, if it is the first time adding the food to your diary do you check the nutrition data against the label on the food item? A lot of the database entries are user submitted and may have incorrect data due to keying errors. I often create my owns food entries under the My Foods…

  • I have the Charge HR and love it. It tracks continuous heart rate, steps, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, auto sleep, active minutes, hours with more than 250 steps. In the settings you can set your stride length which you couldn't do on the phone app that came installed on my phone. The Fitbit app also has GPS…

  • Hi Jenny, I added you.
  • I have a Charge HR. I have found that if it hasn't synced to MFP, I can open the MFP app on my phone or tablet and then open the Fitbit app and let it sync to my watch. After that it usually sends the data to MFP.
  • This is in the FAQs section and explains the calorie adjustment for exercise myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1084232-what-is-the-calorie-adjustment-in-my-exercise-diary?article_id=1084232-what-is-the-calorie-adjustment-in-my-exercise-diary
  • For an afternoon snack at work I usually have a large Orange around 170 gram and 80 calories or a couple of Kiwi at 150 gram and 90 calories
  • Hi Laura, feel free to add me if you like
  • Extra sharp cheddar or Vermont extra sharp white cheddar
  • I have Android so not sure if all the functions are the same as the Apple app. Fitbit is linked and will send over data. If I want step count, on my app you can go to the menu and then choose steps. The dfault was checked for "Don't Count Steps". You can activate it there.
  • Hi and welcome back to MFP. I have been dieting since November and have lost 50 pounds. Was using another app and switched over to MFP about 3 1/2 months ago. For the first six months I just used calorie counting and lost 42 pounds. I have just started exercising in the past four weeks. 1) Buy a digital food scale and…
  • Just follow the daily calorie goal that MFP gave you and you will lose weight even without exercise. I have lost 50 pounds so far and the first 42 was without any exercise. I just started exercising in the past few weeks to be healthier and build up strength and endurance. Also if you don't have a digital kitchen food…
  • MyFitnessPal calorie values for an exercise are averages and do not account for your intensity level. I would trust the machine value over MFP. That being said chest strap HR monitors are the most accurate. I have a Nautilus U616 upright bike at home with hand grip HR monitor. The Nautilus bike has a user profile setup…
  • I did a one mile walk outside at the other day at lunch. My Fitbit Charge HR showed the 20 minute walk as 199 calories. Charge HR has a continuous heart rate monitor. I also had the MapMyFitness app open and logged the walk with it. MapMyFitness showed the walk at 140 calories burned. Both have the profile setup where you…
  • It takes the MFP estimate of your daily calorie burn and compared it to the Fitbit number for your daily calorie burn. The difference is what shows up under the Fitbit calorie adjustment. http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/906763-why-am-i-not-getting-a-fitbit-calorie-adjustment-

  • Oats with fresh sliced strawberries or a Lean Pockets. Usually take mine to work as well.
  • If it doesn't elevate your heart rate then you wouldn't be burning extra calories. You would just be burning the same calories as your daily activities. I use a Polar H7 chest strap HR monitor synced to the Polar Beat app on my phone. You input your profile (age, height, weight, sex, etc.). My bike has a user profile setup…
  • I look for products that have "No Sodium Added" or "Reduced Sodium" since I take BP medications. You can buy fresh produce also instead of canned. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/HealthyLiving/HealthyEating/HealthyDietGoals/The-Effects-of-Excess-Sodium-Infographic_UCM_454384_SubHomePage.jsp…
