I like that attitude! I've been here for a while and doing quite well, and having a good time with it and my bike - feel free to add me :-)

Thanks for that good advice - I've never seen the brakes you describe but they sound like a good way to ease into the drops. Years ago I had some and did well with them but, ah! I was so young. Loving my daily bike rides though - today went to the next village via a hill and thence past the gypsy camp in the woods where…

Here are my beginner steps so far 4/3 - 6.3 miles indoor 4/4 - 3 miles outdoor 4/5 5.7 miles out 4/6 4.8 miles in 4/7 4.9 miles in 9/4 Built a bike shed! ( does that count? It was exhausting ) 10/4 3.5 miles outdoor - including the steepest hill so far x 2 That looks both smart and swift. Wishing you much enjoyment on that…

Go for a no - pressure walk, sniff the air, snap some photos, behold some nature /urban sights depending where you are. After illness the world looks different, needs exploring. Post some pictures of it here, tell me what you see. Your body will creep back into the MFP mood, I bet.

Surprised myself by making it to the next village through the woods today - here's us parked up in the old church porch. 4/5 - 5.7 miles.

when your neighbour sees you zoom by on a mountain bike for the first time and can't believe her eyes!

OK I'm in, despite a bit of working abroad this month. I'm a bike returner ( after so many years) amazed I can do it at all. So my distances are short! Gotta start somewhere , yes? 4/3 - 6.3 miles indoor 4/4 - 3 miles outdoor Today I visited our Bronze age burial mounds in the woods beyond the village

My belt went in from 2 notches to 4....my boots are loose at the ankle....

I've lost approaching 30lb and people are really starting to notice, although I still am 224 lb and by no means narrow. GW is about 145. Height is 5 ft 7 inches. A work colleague said I was "wasting away" and a close friend said, "goodness, you're melting away" . They asked how I do it and I tell them, and they don't look…

Hi there, feel free to add me! I'm a gal in the same ball park and using bikes , indoor and outdoor, as my weapon of choice! Never tried Pilates but you can talk me into it :-)

Brilliant progess. Soon there'll be no stopping you. I feel the same, just got back on a road bike after many years of not feeling able to ride one. A short outing on it so far, but a big step for me.

FWIW, I got one like this - but not this very one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/We-Sports-Folding-Magnetic-Exercise/dp/B00B73G9BS/ref=sr_1_sc_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1459201775&sr=8-6-spell&keywords=folding+exercisebike but I really wish I'd tried one first, then spent more and got a real spin bike. On this one the pedals are too far…

Thank you, you've encouraged me at a low point x

Congrats on quitting. I quit a heavy smoking habit in 1996 and still think of it as one of the few really smart things I ever did. I didn't miss it for long but I'll never risk smoking a single one again!

I am enjoying your success! Decided to do something similar on my stationary, then later real, bike....set a goal...get a goal...
-
It's the first day I've really not felt like keeping on keeping on but I log anyway. I think it's lack of sleep and stress. I will try to make good with a longish walk. Keeping on regardless.
-
Wishing you a happy time with your new enterprise and success with your goals!

Hiya, I'm a Berkshire gal , lost 2 st and intending to lose another 5 before I'm done, daunted yes but so far so good! It's just me and my little exercise bike against the tonnage! Feel free to add me , logging every day...

Last year I had to teach a course which involved having to wear a lab coat. They are colour coded in our lab, with green the biggest, and last year even that was too small and I had to wear it open, rather embarrassing . This year today I had to teach the same course, and the green coat buttoned all the way up with even a…

Well done, everyone! 2 nsv's here: my ankles don't swell up at the end of a day spent walking and standing any more My trousers which cut into my waist a month ago are comfy now (not loose yet but I'm working on it) I'm still keeping with it!
-
Thank you! I'm downloading it now. Sounds like a great scheme.

Yep this IS a tricky one, my sig. other is not skinny but he is definitely thinner than me and can eat and drink a lot more and get away with it. At first I was embarrassed to not join him in eating snacks and big meals. Then I started being pretty straight with a "no thanks I'm trying to cut back" and "well this time I'll…

Hi there I am also on the 100 downsize slopes, not doing too bad and finding MFP works for me! I would love some new friends here too! We can all march on this together!
-
Hey well done, keep it up! No I don't exercise every day , in fact it surprises me but I find the eating less easier than the exercising more. I must be really lazy! Actually when I do do the exercising as well , that's when the pounds really start to drop off. I notice a lot of folks on this board exercise a huge amount…

Also in the UK and doing battle with myself with the aid of MFP! do add me too! 6 weeks in and still determined! :)
-
I found out how to use my new pedometer, didn't overdo the food in spite of it being a weekend, and I'm about to go do some stationary bike. Feeling fairly virtuous considering. Losing steadily here on MFP, can't believe it. New smaller trousers are not too tight any more! Old ones are falling off me!
-
Add me please, I lost 16 so far with 70 to go, excited about the process and could do with a buddy or two
-
Hello I am a 49 yr old woman in the same boat! No immediate friends or family here have to worry about their weight so I feel a bit isolated - but very determined. Please add me and we will make strides together!
-
Hi feel free to add me too, I turn 50 soon and am 4 weeks in here, losing steadily ( ish!) also with a small business and stress to deal with. Very determined though, after years of denial! We have the power....
