No weight loss this week, but feeling good about this week. 12 months ago tomorrow I started my mfp journey and lost 16lbs in 4months. It seemed easy at the time so I need to channel that mind set. For me it is all about - prelogging, loads of exercise, eating filling foods, having high calorie days and having a little bit…

Hi everyone, I'd like to joint too. I am 48, 5ft 3" and 159lbs. I lost 16 lbs between January-May 16, through mfp and walking a lot. Maintained the loss for 5months but have since pit 7lbs back on. I now want to get back on track and into the mindset I had this time last year. I am also planning a triathlon this year so…

I am thankful for this group. I am struggling to get into the right headspace for losing weight. So knowing I will be weighing myself Monday morning is helpful- except I usually eat a lot on weekend so I might put my Friday weight in :)

Yes I'd like to do this with you. I lost 16lbs from Jan-May 16 and then maintained until now but feel that I am starting to put on again- mind set etc I would like to lose 14lbs by Christmas and need some motivation. So 14lbs to lose 0 lost 14 to go

I think it is definitely true. After losing 16lbs which was 10% of my body weight my hunger increased dramatically. I decided to maintain for a while and the hunger did go after a couple of weeks. But I am up 5 lbs, I hope it is water weight - eek. I am back on deficit now - phew.

Thanks everyone x

I read an article that said if you lose 10% of your body weight your hunger hormones increase(ghrelin). I found this true for me and increased my calories for a couple of weeks and ate a lot of vegetables and filling protein and drank a lot of water. My appetite has gone down now, thankfully.

Great post

I think focussing on reducing cals is a good way to start. I started swimming a lot and go so hungry I found cal deficit difficult so put on weight. This time I have focussed on cals and building up my walking. Now doing 30 miles a week and been able to stick to low cals.

I am 5' 3" and am set for 1350 but eat more than that, average about 1450. Have been losing at 1 lb per week for last 14 weeks, from 168 to 154. I do a lot of walking - 30 miles per week and so I guess I'm eating back a bit for that.
-
Indeed I will be lucky if I can maintain at 1600

I seem to have lost most of my post. SW 168 CW 154 GW 140 Lost 14 lbs over 15 weeks. Thanks mfp

I am 5' 3" started at 168 on 27th January 2016 and now on 155. So 13 weeks and lost 13 lbs. So very happy indeed, key thing is my weight loss is irregular and so to just plough on with it and not be discouraged by ups and downs. I hope to get to 140lbs by Autumn (fall) and then maintain for while and see how 140 feels. I…

Thanks, not increased that much just a 300-500 Cals per week, I think. I have read posts that say increasing calories can break a plateau. But I am inclined to think it is a whoosh, which probably means I am gonna slow down now.

I trick myself by having a small piece of chocolate just after my breakfast, which seems really wicked. So my Rebellios Child gets its kicks early on and feelings of deprivation don't come. Well it works for me. If I eat the same chocolate at nightime after resisting all day I will eat another and another....

Thanks for the reassurance on fat levels and the encouragement. I do feel like it is working and sustainable and I have the right mind set. Just want to be at target now!!!!

Thanks for your advice. Why would reducing my fat % help? I find if my carbs are too high I feel hungry and I don't eat meat (only fish) so find it hard to get my protein much higher. Most of my fats are healthy fats. Not aaying you are wrong but interested in finding out more.

Thanks everyone, useful advice. I admit I am a bit scared of strenghening exercises because of a back problem but will use your advice to get over that. I lost a 1lb this morning so hopefully things are shifting. I think I am really on 0.5lb per week and I do get the feeling 1800 cals is a lot for me at this height and…

A lb of fat takes up more space than a lb of muscle, I assume so anyway. So it has higher density. Someone will probably have the exact figures.

Lost 8lbs so far ( in 6 weeks) and 20lbs to go , hopefully by September. Feel great and very motivated albeit a little impatient!! Add me as a friend -

Thanks so much for your reply. I have set it for 1 lb a week and so an average of 1340 per day but mixing it up so I can have some 1700 days but that means some days are under 1200. Last week I was over my goal but still in weight loss levels so it might not show on the scale yet. Also perimenapausal so not always obvious…
