  • I so wanted a Cinnabon at the Mall yesterday. It is right past the Sears and I was drooling. Came home and had a spearmint candy and got back to walking. Next month hopefully I will feel comfortable to treat myself. I really got my walking and dumbbell weight grove on. I'm not working (HouseHusband) so I really focused on…
  • That was suppose to be a happy face!
  • Hi Friends - I had a setback last night. I had already met my protein quota for the day prior to dinner and I still had a few hours more of walking to do so I decided to have pasta. I measured out one cup of cooked pasta, ate it along with a chicken drumstick. Told myself I was starving and served out another cup. It was…
  • @kesslemg - change is difficult, but you are doing great! Hang in there. Soon the job will bring new friends and you will have a new normal. Sounds trite but i prevent myself from eating enticing pastry by packing a small sandwich Baggie of carrots, small container of almonds, one tiny square of a chocolate bar, and a…
  • Thanks curlymop3! I feel like I am bouncing off the walls on my end so thanks for that! I did seven hours of "walking" yesterday and have already done four and a half hours today. About to start my 2 hr weight workout. I did an hour of hard gardening early this morning and the app says that alone was 400 calories! I…
  • Tyboskates - oh, that is funny!! Can you imagine how long it would take to find even one piece to place - that would be so awesome to achieve! I wish I could do puzzle while "walking"!
  • Hi you guys! Sorry to hear about the stress and health issues!! Hopefully things will get better this coming week. I am so bored of watching tv so I have stacked a bunch of puzzle boxes on top of each other on top of my dinning-room table to rest my book while I do a combo of walking in place and light aerobics. Finishing…
  • Congrats Elizabeth and tyboskates for all your daily successes! To leave a warm home and brave the cold weather at such early morning time wow - just wow! It was 54 this morning and I was freezing! Sleep has been evading me too! We are all doing wonderful - even if the weight loss is not happening when I want it or expect…
  • I find when I exercise a lot I have a hard time relaxing. Getting in 20 minutes or so of meditation helps. To be sure I do it daily, under "cardio exercise" I added "meditate" for tracking w/ just one calorie.
  • Tjwilson5 - that is a great idea. I'm going to do that too. Thanks.
  • Hi Everyone, my goals are to keep my calories at 1800, do barbell weights three times a week (takes 2 hrs and 15 min) and daily do at least three 45 min. sessions of walking in place. Lost 3 lbs this last week so very encouraged. Congrats Elizabeth on your success. Welcome new members. Let's make this third week the most…
  • Hi Friends, I get chills just reading these weather figures! Wow!! Still Super Bowl weather here - 30 min outside of San Franciscso - 72 with a bit of overcast. I find reading about our struggles and successes very motivating to just continue forward. For the weekend staying in and doing my walking in place as much as I…
  • I'm focusing on eating less sugar and carbs this week and no beverages other than water. I drink lite caffeine coffee with 1/3c of soymik and 3/4 tsp of sugar throughout the day and too dependent on it so nixing starting today with success today. My concern going forward is that if not for all my exercise I would not have…
  • Thanks you guys for your nice comments. To admit that I feel controlled by food really sucks so I appreciate your support. I am laughing over here b/c my wife had the same response!! I read my post to my wife and she was really surprised to learn the process I went through to not bring any cake home. But just like you, she…
  • Thanks Elizabeth for emphasizing our need for sleep and it's value which prompts me to recognize my success: In a firm commitment to myself, I did not bring home any of my mother-in-law's home-made cake yesterday! I am surprised how much this was a conscious decision and the effort involved. I had a family event in which I…
  • I wrote earlier but doesn't appear that I posted it - here is another try: I LOVE the idea of weighting myself only monthly. I kept thinking about it last night and committed myself in theory. The problem was that I gradually was so full of anxiety about not having the data for four entire weeks of my status that I…
  • Isn't he just great? Dave The Rooster is the official pet greeter at my local fed store. He came right up to me the other day while I was getting hay for my house rabbits. He wanted to be picked up and petted and he was disappointed when I put him down and wanted to be held more. He is just too much. So I took a selfie! A…
  • Excellent article Elizabeth. Very motivating. Thank you. - Jonarhan
  • Being part of this group to have to report in is very motivating and holds me accountable. I'm very excited! I've been doing walking in place exercise programs via YouTube several times a day. I thought I would be bored out of my mind. Rather, it has been the opposite as I watch tv and use the cellphone to play the videos.…
  • Hello everyone - I'm Jonathan - 45 yrs old. Looking to go from 230 to 165 by Jan '17. My previous attempts to get below 200 are undermined by snacking esp. after I lose 10-15 lbs - I get excited at that point and then I feel I have my eating under control to only slowly gain again. It's so frustrating! I look forward to…
