One thing I have found that helps when I'm craving certain things (chocolate, cheese, etc), is to eat a small amount of something high quality and flavorful. I don't get cheap chocolate bars, I get more expensive, fancier chocolate. I get quality cheese (like a really sharp cheddar). When something is rich and full of…

I am not fully vegan (I eat a very limited amount of dairy and will eat or use eggs from hens I know), but when I'm cooking for myself at home, I consume little to no animal products. I eat tons of beans (black beans are my fave), keep a huge supply of frozen veggies (I'm a freak for peas), and keep a lot of dark leafy…

I don't eat a lot of salads. I've never been a huge salad fan, anyway, and trying to force myself to choke one down when I don't really want to is tough. I DO still eat them when they sound good (had a huge one yesterday that was super delicous), but I've figured out better ways of managing my diet and my intake instead of…

I've had 7 different kinds of hummus in the house at once. There was a time in my life when, due to stress, working long, hard hours, and exhaustion had me mostly living off of hummus and pretzels.

I have found the best way to keep an unused half as green as possible is to tightly wrap it in plastic wrap with the pit still in it. I can usually get a day out of it like that with little to no brown, and two days if I ok with it being less pretty. I eat at least half an avocado a day. Currently, I cut it into chunks and…

Half an avocado and a couple of tablespoons of salsa. I have come to find that this is my most favorite way to eat a salad. Proper guacamole is good, too, but I usually just slice up an avo and top with salsa.

I only like KK if they are fresh as they can get, and even then they're soooooo sweet. Prefer DD, though the Giant near me has fabulous donuts and when I get a hankering, I go there (closest DD and local donut shop is 25 minutes away).

I weigh as much as I can, which helps tremendously (it's amazing how off suggested servings are if you measure instead of weigh (cup/Tbsp vs grams or ounces). For my personal preference, I consider 100g a serving of fruits or veggies (before cooking), and aim for AT LEAST 500g a day.

Tried it. Hated it. I like food (food is more than fuel. It is pleasure). I was NEVER satisfied when I did it, either mentally or physically.

Humans of all types should do what they want with their body hair. If you wanna shave the pits, go for it. If not, meh. No one should care. (Shaving to help reduce BO, especially if you are packed close in public transportation, is always a nice act of human courtesy, though).

I promise I'm not being snarky, but, produce, beans, lentils, rice, etc, aren't easily available? Do you live in a food desert (legitimate question)? While I'm not fully vegan (vegetarian with a vegan leaning), I have no issues locating food that works in a vegan diet. The biggest hassle is reading labels on prepared foods…

I probably drink around that most days. I usually fill my 32oz Hydroflask 3 or 4 times from when I get up to when I go to bed, and often have several glasses of seltzer on top of that while at work. At this point in my life drinking water is a habit. I always have a water bottle on hand.

After reading 10 pages of this thread I have to say I'm fascinated. I'm thinking this is a thing I need to try. I tend to go bonkers on veggies and fruit. I'll usually make something with a protein and think "here is multiple servings of this veg. I can have some for lunch tomorrow." Then I eat ALL the veg. I may have to…

I agree with this. I tried it (got suckered into it). Gained weight while on it and hated life (was starving constantly and because I was doing two shakes a day, I missed FOOD). If you want an easy meal replacement, just get a decent protein shake. Most seem to have less sugar and less calories and just about the same…

God no.

I don't know how expensive Shakeology is, but Isagenix is NOT cheap. O top of that, I GAINED while on it, and was constantly hungry, or just craving FOOD. Yuck. Hated it. I do keep some variety of protein shake around (I am liking Orgain but have also used Vega One)) because it is a nice way for me to get something quick…

I am vegetarian with a mild sushi habit (I get sushi maybe once every month or two. Sometimes I have fish in other circumstances, but it's getting more rare). I also consume very little dairy. I eat lots of beans, love Asian noodles like soba and ramen, I love rice and quinoa. I buy TONS of frozen veggies (it's…

Yoga because it is good to be flexible as well as strong (as well as have good balance and posture. All things yoga helps). Stretching will also help your body recover from the other things you do during the week. Hell, I'd try to add yoga in somewhere else, as well, or at least do a little on your own throughout the week!

I am a big believer in eating a rainbow, which is hard to do without fruit. In fact, one of the chefs at work just brought me a giant bowl of fresh fruit (I LOVE fruit, particularly in season stuff). I will eat all of it and not feel one bit of remorse. That being said, I'll eat more protein later today and try to get some…

It doesn't matter. I rarely eat more than one proper meal a day. I tend to snack and eat a little here and there all day. As long as I'm monitoring what I'm consuming, it makes no difference.

I am MOSTLY vegetarian leaning towards vegan (I still will eat the occasional sushi, but it's getting less and less often). I don't eat a lot of dairy and almost none at home, but still partake in butter occasionally and can't quite kick the cheese habit. Those are basically the only two types of dairy that don't cause…

One of my favorite quick and easy meals is toast with refried black beans (which are basically just cooked mushed up black beans) and avocado. Sometimes I throw some tomato on, as well. Season to taste.

I am in agreement with those saying we don't need as much protein as everyone (including MFP) says we do. I just saw a great video about this, and it really made me feel better about the choices I make. If I try to eat as much protein as MFP says I need, I am usually having to down multiple protein shakes AND eat beans (or…

Chipotle can fool you. Look hard at the calories before filling up a bowl. Taco Bell can be done fairly low-ish cal. That's actually about the only fast food I eat (im vegetarian, so most places don't offer much- can't even eat McDonalds French fries!). If you look at your website or even do a quick google and you'll get…

Dancing has definitely toned me up (I am a ballroom dancer) but has had little influence on my weight. It is fun and it IS good for you in many ways (very good for your brain), but it can't be the only change you make. I do rely on diet and finding other exercise to do, especially since I can't dance every day, as much as…

I'm not a big fan of salads. I do eat them occasionally because I do occasionally crave them, but I don't eat them every day. I've tried to eat them because they are "healthy" and supposedly filling (my stomach begs to differ), but I feel like I'm tucking into a flake of my horse's alfalfa most of the time. I still eat…

Got talked into it. Gained 4lbs (wanted to lose) in pretty short order, was always hungry, and we won't even talk about the expense! It's also an obnoxious pyriamid scheme type deal. I was pushed to push it (I didn't). Reduce calories, eat a little of everything. That works much better. I've also found a variety of much…

Yep! I forgot that one! When I eat right, my old injuries and general wear and tear bother me less and I recover much, much faster!

How is vegan not plant based when all you eat is plants and things that are made with plants? I am mostly vegetarian (I eat a small amount of fish, mostly in the form of the occasional sushi), and I am mostly plant based when not eating the above mentioned sushi (I haven't kicked the cheese habit, though it is greatly…

I was never ever a serious runner. I also never really injured myself in my attempts to become a runner. I also tried hard to understand the mechanics of running so that I was as easy on my body as possible. But, I found it extremely hard on my body. Achy legs (not muscle aches....bone aches), complaining hardware from a…
