  • I've tried to "eat healthy" more times than I can count over the last couple of years. Eating "healthy alternatives" etc. Every time, I've lasted a week, maybe, MAYBE lost some weight, but have gone so crazy that I've jumped off that train and gobbled up everything I could. And that's why I'm 20 lb heavier than I was when…
  • Most people commenting are far smarter on this stuff than me but a couple of thoughts: 1) When you were fit, did they set you up on a trainer and WATCH you ride? A really good, professional, performance fitting would have done this. If not, find a shop that offers this. You may have to pay, but it sounds like it may be…
  • I tend to eat a little, often, so my "meals" tend to be around the same amounts. I also have a funky schedule, so that is often just easier for me to snack on and off all day. If I DO eat proper meals, my heaviest tends to be dinner, but sometimes it's lunch if I'm working the evening shift at work. Occasionally I'll have…
  • My guess is the hunger comes from the prednisone. Steroids often make the patient VERY hungry.
  • Whole grain toast with a tablespoon of peanut butter, a clementine, and, when I got to work, I was handed a big handful of the BEST blueberries I have ever had. 272 calories.
  • I drink plant based milks because I do have some digestive issues with some forms of dairy, and, while not totally dairy free, I try to contribute to the dairy industry as little as possible for ethical reasons (my damn cheese habit is hard to kick). I'm not s big milk drinker, so even with almond milk (my preferred…
  • I would like to add an in home dance studio. Don't know how I forgot that.
  • I often will sauté some peppers and onions (I buy them frozen for ease, though I have them raw, as well) and spinach and will add them to wraps, toast, whatever. I don't typically eat eggs, so a standard for me is a some beans, sautéed pepper, onions, and spinach, maybe some avo, and maybe some salsa in a wrap or on some…
  • The other evening, after work, I met with a friend at her house to discuss some plans. I ended up having a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers (I was surprisingly VERY good with the cheese). I had planned, since I would be close to my favorite grocery store, to get the shopping done while in the neighborhood. But…
  • Dancing, ballroom slow/fast is an option if you search for it. I use it on a regular basis. I typically log the slow version if I'm in a group class or social dancing and the fast version if I am in a private lesson with my coach (I work A LOT harder with him!).
  • I try to do lots of yoga, too, as I find it helps keep me mindful of my body and posture. So much of dancing is about body awareness, and it's a nice way to do work on that (and burn some calories and limber up) when you can't be in the studio.
  • I tried WW a couple of years ago, and was, as I've been since I decided that I needed to lose some weight, on again off again with it (as I've been with MFP over the last year I've used it). I know the program has changed since I was using it, but I was STARVING on it if I stayed within my points. I was never able to get…
  • Nice weather, a good view, and plenty of sunshine. Bonus points if there's a nice place to throw down the yoga mat. I hate gyms, so, maybe minus a lap pool, I'd just prefer to be able to walk, run, and cycle outside.
  • I am a vegetarian, with vegan leanings (very little dairy, etc). I will admit that I do occasionally cave to my sushi habit, so under the strictest of classifications, I am pescatarian (though I haven't had any in a few months).
  • I refuse to give up anything I love. And, so far, the last few weeks have been the most successful and easy time I've had since I've started on again, off again trying to lose this weight. I try to stay fairly meticulous about knowing how many calories I eat, but I don't limit WHAT I eat. If I want a cookie (or some…
  • You're never too old.
  • I am a ballroom dancer. I dance several times a week. I wish I had more time, as I would love to round out my dancer education with some ballet (have danced ballet since I was about 9) or even some hip hop!
  • I figured out my TDEE, which put me at about 1500 to lose consistently. I aim for 1400-1600, and usually find it fairly easy to get right about 1500 most days (not counting yesterday when I just blew it out of the water
  • Yesterday I got a judgey notice about sugar. All I had eaten was a clementine and a banana. It wasn't like I'd even eaten something fun and worth the judginess. I definitely tell my phone not to judge me on a daily basis.
  • I'm 5'3" and my goal weight is floating somewhere between 140 and 150. For reference, that will put me at about a 26 to 28 inch waist size, which is about as small as I've been, even at my most fit (when I had a very active job and was cycling about 100 miles a week). I have friends that are a similar size and shape, but…
  • First off, I strive not to deprive myself of anything I like. MFP is helping me be more mindful of how MUCH of something I consume, which is enabling me to have some of everything, basically. This helps the mental side a lot, for me, because I'm not craving anything (or if I have a craving, I eat it, instead of resist and…
  • OP, I had to put myself on a PB time out. My addiction got way out of hand and I was eating TONS of it. Way, way, way more than I should have been. I bought a jar the other night, after a few weeks of abstaining. But this one has no extra sugar (and is ONLY peanuts). It taste good, but not so good that I feel the need to…
  • We're doing a biggest loser type thing at work. Most of coworkers are like "I've cut out sugar" or "I'm just eating salads." Meanwhile, I'm noshing on a chocolate chunk scone our pastry chef just made and losing weight. Salads are gross (I DO get plenty of veggies and actually love them....I'm just not big on salads,…
  • I have some avacado sometimes twice a day, though maybe not half of one every time. I did find out that what I was typically using was actually a good deal less in calories than I was recording when I started using a food scale, which means there's a lot more avo in my life now.
  • While I don't tend to drink as much beer (good, craft beer) as I once did, it's more because of other issues, not weight loss. I do still frequently have a glass of red wine at night, and have no issues having some drinks (wine, beer, or cocktails) with friends. I may try to get a few more calories burned to give me more…
  • Obviously this aimed is at vegans, but a nice quick guide to give you ideas for plant based protein. If you also consume dairy and eggs, then you can also add in various sources from those, too. I know I struggle to get anywhere near the recommended amount. I'd have to eat far more calories than I am aiming for daily to…
  • I have been known to do yoga poses at work and will practice my ballroom steps. Does that count?
  • I just ate pizza and I'm polishing off a glass of wine. I also ate pasta at lunch. I've been STARVING today, so lots of little snacks. Some "good," some "bad." Though I've basically eaten back all my exercise calories today (see: STARVING), even if I have a cookie or make a cup of hot chocolate before bed, I won't go over.…
  • The real feel high temp today was 4. I only run outside. No treadmill and no gym memebership. I didn't even give my dogs a proper walk today, so definitely not running. No biggie, I'll just run the next time I can, which, unfortunately, looks to be Tuesday. I did a big, tough yoga practice instead, and may squeeze in some…
  • What is comfortable. I've been kinda herky-jerky getting going with a consistent running program, so my goal is first to be able to sustain a jog/run. Once that happens, I'll work on improving the pace.
