It looks like you already have a pretty good start - your carbs are pretty low. I'd just say bring protein down & fat up a bit like the others have suggested. You can switch out your egg whites for whole eggs, and throw some butter on your broccoli - things like that. Good luck!

This is so very much me too. Just reading everyone's posts help, even if I don't post very much!

I've never gotten it. I've been keto for a bit over a month now (and at other times in my life too...)

This group is a great resource for low carb diets, and there are a lot of keto folks there (myself included!) http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group

Still losing here. Down 12 lbs since April 1. Within the last few days, I've stopped tracking carbs too, but only because my eating is fairly repetitive, and I've been well under 20 net each day. I feel so free without tracking! The only thing I obsessively track is my weight, and I kind of look forward to that each day…

My fitness-obsessed brother did it. He said he felt fantastic, and after he was keto-adapted, he had no trouble with lifting.

I'm participating in the Ad Lib April challenge, so not logging anything but carbs (and I'm doing it on paper so MFP doesn't tell me my calories, or judge me for that matter  ). I don't plan to go back to logging calories. I eat when I'm hungry and don't when I'm not, and it is so freeing not to worry about the…

That is amazing, and we all know you can do it!!!

Chugging along. I like this no logging thing. I did Atkins 20 years ago in high school, and I never worried about calories (I also had a high school metabolism). Since I started to try to log on MFP, I became a little too obsessed with calories - and that is stressful! I wish I had had the information about how low carb is…

There was something in one of Dr. Fung's videos about this, and he said, "No, of course that isn't going to happen." Your body already has a system in place for when there isn't enough food - it will eat your fat. Why in the world would it turn to your muscles instead? And then there was some science about it not happening…

I read it cover to cover in 1 day, approximately 1 week after I had given up artificial sweeteners for April. They are gone for good now, but my Natural Calm magnesium has stevia in it - grrr. Just ordered something different without stevia....I don't want any unneccessary increases in insulin!

Woohoo!!!!!!!

Okay, that is crazy interesting - mainly from my observations of my husband, since I stay at home with the kiddos. *Every* day he comes home for work he heads straight to the pantry, even if he can see that dinner is literally minutes away. Fortunately for him, he's one of those lucky people who can eat whatever he wants…

Ha! I really need to read whole sentences! You look amazing!!

Doing good here too! Down 5.5 lbs from last Friday. (Went down 3 lbs the first day, so that was probably a "whoosh" from the week before). I am tracking my carbs on paper, and I have stayed well under my 20 g. I also banned nuts this month, in addition to artificial sweeteners & alcohol, my 3 biggest pitfalls, I think.…

Wow! That is amazing & inspiring!!! (And I love hearing about the Splenda too - I just gave it up).
-
Same problem here! They are banned for this month for me too

Thanks for all of the tips! If this bone is a disaster, I have a chicken carcass in the freezer and some chicken wings I'm making for lunch tomorrow ready to be attempt #2
-
And yeah, I will not be cutting that in half
-
I have a small slow cooker - 4 qts I think - and this bone would not lay down in it, so I had to fill it up to cover the bone. I'm a little worried about that. Next time I may ask the butcher to cut the bone in half. Hmmm, maybe I can, but I doubt it...
-
Thanks for the advice! Here goes nothing!! (And I think I read the slow cooker in the garage thing in another thread - it's already part of the plan )
-
I'm in! To avoid all the calorie hiding stuff, I am just keeping a carb tally on a piece of paper. My carb goal is <20 g net.

Spaghetti using Rao's sauce and zucchini noodles (if you have a spiralizer)

Oh, and I second the Soul Bread suggestion. I made some grilled cheese with it yesterday and it was AMAZING!

This is one of my favorite high fat recipes - and I think the chicken could easily be swapped out for paneer or a similar cheese (or maybe even hard boiled egg!). It says 6 servings, but to me, it makes more, so the carbs can be cut down further (I think it was 9, 8 net when I calculated it), and you can probably get away…

I remember coming across this when I was first looking into magnesium supplements. The magnesium in those laxatives is listed as 1.745 g/oz, but that is as magnesium citrate. When you put it into terms of just magnesium, it's 191 mg magnesium/oz. I take 325 mg magnesium using Natural Calm, and it has 81 servings in one…

I have given up carbs before, but never artificial sweeteners. It'll be interesting to see how my body reacts! Anyone have a suggestion for a gum alternative? I can't stand keto breath  ) Brushing my teeth 6 times a day?

Have you ever tried roasted broccoli? My love of roasted veggies started with this simple recipe (Ignore the part about leaving in the sugar - I have found it tastes just as good without it): http://benandbirdy.blogspot.com/2012/01/crack-broccoli.html

I haven't sat down and tried to think about the science in this Michael Eades post very thoroughly yet, but your post made me think of it. (Maybe similar info is in the posts that you linked to). "Since saturated fat generates a higher FADH2:NAHD ratio, saturated fat increases insulin resistance, which keeps more carbs in…
