  • I weight every day, first thing in the morning, naked, and after I've gone to the bathroom.
  • I have one similar to the Ozeri posted above. My main criteria is: raised weighing platform, tare feature, weight in both grams and ounces.
  • You just have to set your percentages manually. For example, I have mine set at 10% carbs, 60% fat, and 30% protein. This puts me at the correct amount of protein and keeping my carbs less than 50g, and fat just kind of fills in the rest.
  • My goal is to meet my macros, calories is secondary for me.
  • It depends. Right now I'm practicing IF and not eating breakfast, so not many. BUT, if I'm doing more of a 3 meals a day plan, I'll easily eat 2 eggs a day every day, and sometimes more. I love eggs, and we get ours from our friend so I know exactly how the chickens are being treated and what kind of diet they are being…
  • I'd probably go with Chicken or Fish (not fried) Taco's and a side salad personally. Also, I really like the chips and salsa that you get for free at most Mexican places, so if they have a salad on the menu, I'd probably choose that so that I could eat some chips :)
  • I am a huge proponent of fasting, both intermittent as well as occasional longer fasts of 2-3 days. I am also interested in Autophagy and have been spending a lot of time researching it as it's a relatively new topic of discussion. I IF several days a week, and also routinely practice OMAD once or twice a week. I've been…
  • You can do this! Sunny_bunny posted some great information. I'm the type of person that needs to go all in, so if restricting yourself to 50g of carbs per day seems overwhelming, start with 150g, then decrease to 100g, and then get yourself under 50g. Some people just do better by easing in to it. I personally don't do…
  • You don't need to eat breakfast. There's even a fancy name for it - Intermittent Fasting :) Just eat when you are hungry.
  • I would do a charcuterie board https://www.spendwithpennies.com/how-to-make-a-charcuterie-board/ and a cheesecake https://www.wholesomeyum.com/recipes/low-carb-cheesecake-keto-gluten-free-sugar-free/
  • I would talk to your doctor about possibly having Ghrelin Resistance. Just like one can become resistant to Insulin, you can also become resistant to Ghrelin. It's talked about briefly in this article, though they don't specifically call it Ghrelin Resistance.…
  • I'm pretty much here. I mean, I know that I drink 20oz of coffee w/ heavy creamer first thing in the AM because that's how big my cup is. I then have a 24oz stainless steel tumbler that I fill often throughout the day, I'd say, probably 3-4 times a day. I also then have a water bottle that I keep in my car (2+ daily…
  • When I made Split Pea Soup recently, I made broth/stock with the ham hock and was able to find an entry in the database. I'm sure not perfect, but close enough for me.
  • HW: 274.7lbs Keto restart (4/7/19): 246.8 GW: 135lbs MAY 05/01 starting the month off right! - 236.5 05/05 - 234.7 05/12 - 232.3 05/19 05/26 Fri 05/31 to finish the month! Good week overall. I even stayed Keto yesterday when celebrating MD but had a few glasses of wine which generally causes a temporary gain, so I was…
  • Honestly, the jury is still out, and you can google either opinion and will find results to match with your own position. My practice focuses on Blood Sugar Regulation and having been previously diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome myself, I tend to lean towards the belief that if you are already Insulin Resistant or…
  • I'm morbidly obese and eat closer to 1600 calories a day, that's twice as much as you. I'm still averaging 3lbs per week which is technically too fast. You should definitely spend some time reading through the message boards here and reading about too-low calorie diets. You are seriously setting yourself up for failure.…
  • I prefer Coconut Milk over the Soy and Nut milks, but that is a flavor preference. No food is exclusively a "weight-loss" or "weight-gain" food, that would come from your overall diet.
  • I follow a low carb diet (Keto) and my family does not. I refuse to be a short order cook, so we all eat the same meal, I just don't eat the carb-laden side dishes. For example, last night I made a Chuck Roast, I served it with roasted veggies and then Mashed Potatoes for the family and Mashed Cauliflower for me. If we're…
  • They aren't mutually exclusive. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. Some people, like myself, find calorie restriction easier by eating a low carb diet. Some people find simply restricting their calories works for them. At the end of the day, you need to learn what will work best for you and what you will…
  • Starvation mode does not exist. Track and weigh all of your food and maintain a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.
  • Feel free to add me. I did Keto for 6 months last year and have been back at it for just over a month and have lost 14lbs so far.
  • I changed the names of my meals from breakfast/lunch/dinner etc to Meal#1/Meal#2/Meal#3 etc. I track my fasts on an app called Zero.
  • Right now I'm doing about 20oz of coffee in the morning with a couple of splashes of cream and some Stevia. I'm not quite ready to give up my cream just yet, but I will. Maybe when I finish this carton, we'll see. The rest of the day I drink water. I keep a large stainless steel tumbler on my desk and sip on it all day…
  • I wear mine 24/7, even in the shower since my Ionic is waterproof (with the exception of charging of course). I’m a stats person, and like keeping track of everything. TMI but I like that I can track when I’m ovulating and when I’ll get my period based on my resting HR because being in peri menopause my cycles can be wonky.
  • HW: 274.7lbs Keto restart: 246.8 GW: 135lbs MAY 05/01 starting the month off right! - 236.5 05/05 - 234.7 05/12 05/19 05/26 Fri 05/31 to finish the month! I started back on Keto on 4/7 and have lost 12pbs since. I’m not one of the lucky ones that Keto just makes the weight fall off. I STRUGGLE to get 3lbs per week, even…
  • There are something called “carb ups” that I’ve heard of athletes using. I wouldn’t recommend it before you keto for at least 4-6 weeks and fully fat adapted. But the basic gist is increasing your carbs and timing it your sports activities. That said, carbs are NOT necessary and you may be surprised to fine that once you…
  • You don’t need fiber if you aren’t eating carbs. Lots of people follow a Carnivore diet and their bowels work just fine. I follow a Keto diet myself, and have done carnivore in the past. Very rarely does my fiber get above 10g, today I’ve had exactly 0g.
  • I've got some lingering health issues, namely my GI system, that I'm trying to work out and have played around with eliminating various things from my diet over the last couple of years. I had previously eliminated artifical sweeteners, but they eventually crept back in. They aren't something that I personally prefer to…
  • You can't spot reduce. Unless you have an exorbitant amount of weight to lose, a much more realistic goal would be 2lbs per week, so more like 8lbs in a month.
  • 1200 calories is the bare minimum that you should be consuming. You are likely not eating enough. I'm the same height and weigh 235lbs. On a sedentary day (less than 5K steps) I burn 2400 calories, so I aim to eat about 1400. On the days that add in a walk or two, thus getting my steps up to 10k, I burn more in the…
