Good job. Just remember that everyone is in a different place in their fitness. I am in the free weights every day and I started seriously overweight. I have two bodybuilder brothers that started out in the free weight section as skinny boys with mullets and several friends that have similar stories. Don't let fear or…

Yes it felt like that. I think it is odd when people say that they aren't 'cut out for running' or 'meant to be a runner.' Anyone can run. Half the battle is mental. You hang in there and steady your breathing through the discomfort and often find your rhythm and a second wind. I truly believe most people can run longer…

haha thanks, I plan on having them one day, but unlikely to have an 8 pack due to a short torso :(

5' 2 " lost about 60 lbs and have kept it off for 2 years. Started tracking again to work on getting leaner. Yes, it sucks that as a short one we don't have as many calories :(

I don't think a week or several days is long enough to feel you are in a true plateau. Losing 11 lbs the first week, your body could have lost some water weight and so your weight loss might not be stable if that makes sense. I would just keep going at the calorie set you have or minorly drop it. Often times people…

You really can't target weight loss in one area. Unfortunately when it comes to 'slimming' something it is all about operating within a calorie deficit and your body loses fat from wherever it is genetically programmed to do so. There is no spot reduce technique. It is a myth perpetuated by the media. To slim your calves,…

6.4% is great! If you've recently lost weight, it may take time for skin to tighten. Also do your abs look different first thing in the morning? Have you played with carbs or sodium to see if it could be water retention? From what I can see you look great (not hitting on you, it's a fact), so don't be depressed!

I wear compression capris as well. They tend to be thick enough to pass the squat test and also are very comfortable for running and high intensity cardio.

I don't think it used to set the minimums. I used to be able to make mine go below 1200 when choosing the most aggressive weight loss plans, but now women can't go below 1200 and men can't go below 1500.

I want to see what my abs look like. Everyone's are a bit different and at this point I am a bit curious.

haha, no, this math one was clearly a test of PEMDAS (aka order of operations) and people were ignoring that. It was hysterical, but sad. Side note: because trans fats were already shown to conclusively be associated with dyslipidemia and other CVD risk factors, they are actually being removed from the food supply and most…

Nope. If they become a creeper later, you can always delete them

@Alyssa_Is_LosingIt Thanks! I'm glad someone read it at least. :)

There is a mass media scare on artificial sweeteners, but as an epidemiologist working in diet and chronic disease etiology (because someone wanted to know what 'science' people work in), I can say there is a lot of media misinterpretation of the current science on these subjects. Moreover, many people put artificial…

I usually give my sources and talk about studies and overall scientific understanding. I also sometimes give them a "that may somehow in some way be almost true, but..." ie. "while it may be true that ....., I would suggest prioritizing CICO for weight loss because you will not store fat if you are eating in a deficit…

I've met the good and the bad. Some people have had great success with beach body products and are just trying to share that. However, many fail to realize that beach body is not the only way and also that it isn't the best way. It depends on the person and some people do well with videos and Meal Replacement type shakes,…

my baking... the struggle is real. I have started offering random people baked goods after I have a baking urge. At least I'm making friends?

Why are you ready to give up?

You can add me. I'll try to be motivating

I'm sorry that you took my comment that way or if I somehow offended you. When I said only 6 miles, it was because I am more of a duration runner. At the time of the thread I knew I could run over 6 miles and I like to run at a steady 6.0 mph pace because that is what feels good. I don't do 10k's or 5k's because I thought…

Up for a challenge... but I'm confused, are you providing the challenge or are we?

Agree that if you don't have academic access, pubmed is probably the best place for you to start. Not all journals are free to read, but at least the abstract gives you more than a news article. I also love Cochrane summaries (http://www.cochrane.org/evidence) because they don't simply give you one study, but as a team of…

No suggestions. I am sorry. I wish I could give you the extra calories I'd like to eat :(

From Utah. Currently in Northern VA/DC area. Love the outdoors in Utah, cool stuff in DC, unsure where I would choose to live. Except probably not NYC. Sorry NY.
