Not really a difference. Here are two very educated guys with differing opinions: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/fasted-cardio-and-fat-loss-qa.html/ http://alanaragon.com/myths-under-the-microscope-part-2-false-hopes-for-fasted-cardio.html while Lyle McDonald thinks that fasted cardio might have an advantage for…

I would consider walking until you are at a lower weight. Find some hilly areas - you can get just as good of a cardio workout walking on a hill without the damaging impact to your joints.

max heart rate is pretty much genetically determined and does not respond to training. it also decreases with age.

his point is precisely the opposite: Just because something feels easier to you, does not mean it burns fewer calories. This is for a completely different reason. On hot days your heart needs to pump additional blood to your skin to allow you to cool yourself. Your heart can only pump so much blood per beat, and you are…

yes. before or after workout, doesnt matter. i just use a basic foam one or the piece of 4" PVC pipe that my gym has. doesnt need to be fancy. but like anything else in the fitness world, you can spend as much as you like.

I think what you are trying to say is, you got fitter which means your body used the same # of calories to travel further and faster at the same HR. But the only adaptation that this would be true for is technique - you are a more efficient runner (maybe less bouncing, less arm flailing, perfect stride length, etc). That's…

you are lucky. sounds like she is cooking good, wholesome food. honestly there is not anything wrong with tortillas and white rice either. you look like you run. is your weight trending downwards over time? if so, then you don't need to log anything. if it is not trending down, focus on taking smaller portions and keeping…

there is no way around being a fussy eater. eat the foods you know you need to eat. they are good! they are even better if you learn how to cook. chicks also dig a guy that can cook a tasty meal.

just stretch and ease back into it. if you have to go lighter, go lighter. but it is safe to work out again. in fact, a light workout will probably help ease the soreness once you get into it. typically soreness only occurs when you do something far beyond what you are used to doing regularly. if you slowly build up to the…

nothing wrong with meat and potatos. but it is harder to feel full on just those. grown ups eat their vegetables. popeye eats his vegetables. be like popeye. except dont get into as many bar fights.

how much money? as a single person I was able to eat 3000 calories per day (probably way more than you need) on $140 per month. It wasn't the tastiest, but it was all good wholesome food with the proper nutrients. top foods: rice, beans, lentils, eggs, peanut butter. frozen green veggies, onions, potato, cabbage. bananas,…

it's not a rule. it doesn't really make a difference what time of day you eat or don't eat, as long as your total calorie intake is where you need it to be. to that end, you should eat at a time that works best for you.

i usually get regular groceries for most of my vacation foods... but, it's vacation. you're on it what, 1, 2 weeks a year? if now isn't the time to enjoy some rich food, when is?

awesome post OP. thanks for getting into this. but people would still rather pay $150 for the latest fad fitness device so it reports their incorrect numbers to them automagically! I use heart rate monitors to measure my fatigue and effort level on a given day. They are a training tool (a very useful one I might add), they…

TLDR; heart rate isn't a particularly accurate way to measure calories burned either. In some cases it can be less accurate than whatever equation the treadmill is using. best to adjust your intake based on your actual body weight change.

feeling stronger is great. keep it up. apparently the calorie targets are too high for you. reduce your calorie intake and the weight should start coming off. if you are not losing weight, you are not in a calorie defecit. plain and simple.
-
Do you have an actual source that says the body "adjusts" to a calorie deficit by not losing weight for 5 weeks? Only time my weight loss stalled was when I was convinced I was "building muscle". In reality, some extra calories had snuck into my intake. When I finally came out of denial and got rid of them, lo and behold I…

I use adidas powerlifts. They are great but after a few years I wish I had gotten a dedicated Olympic shoe with a slightly higher heel lift. Do-win makes an affordable Olympic shoe. I think rogue makes one too. And then there are the $200 Nike romaleos, good but there is better value for a beginner.

Just set a 10lb deadlift PR at 10lbs lower bodyweight after rowing 9 miles that morning. 415lbs @ 177lbs bw. Anyone who says you can't do cardio and get strong, or you can't gain strength while losing weight, is not trying hard enough. Yes, I'd be gaining strength faster if I wasn't doing cardio and losing weight, but my…

There is no way you can gain 3lbs of muscle in 3 days no matter what you are doing. How often do you weigh yourself? It's very common for your body to go up or down 5lbs even during the course of one day. If you measured once 3 days ago and once today, it could just be you measured on a "low" point then and are at a "high"…
-
I am sorry, but if you are gaining weight then one of two things is happening: 1. Your calorie goal is too high 2. You are measuring and logging something incorrectly and are eating more than you think Adjust your intake down slightly.
-
Where do you people get such misinformed ideas? Raising the heels using a Squat shoe or plates does not prevent you from keeping your weight on your heels. In fact, it is meant to help you do this by enabling you to flex your ankles and achieve proper form. Wearing raised shoes does not shift emphasis to your knees or…

i have tried all forms of carb restriction, from zero-carb "meat and heavy cream and only green leafy vegetables" diets to <50g a day to Cyclic keto dieting (aka carb nite) to Targeted Keto dieting (aka eat 50g sugar right before working out). i lost weight. sure. but its not any more special than just restricting…

reducing by another 200 or 300 sounds like a great place to start.
-
dinner. usually consisting of meat and carbs.
-
then you need to reduce the amount of calories you are consuming.
-
you just stop eating carbs. there is no "kick start." what does it even mean to "kick start" a diet? but first, why do you think you need to stop eating carbs in the first place?
-
get to sleep earlier. i am not a morning person either. you just have to get up and do it. first day is the hardest. once you are in the habit it becomes automatic. if you get to bed too late then the next morning you will suffer. also, immediate caffeination.
-
it should be the same you must have entered something differently what exactly did you put?

I like keeping up with my cardio. it is reasonable to pretty much do as much as you like on your off days from lifting.
