  • I was diagnosed about 17 years ago. I was diagnosed with insulin resistance 9 years ago, and have been battling being overweight pretty much my whole life. I have 100+ pounds to lose, but I'm trying to focus on 1 at a time.
  • Anyone else still doing this? I'm on day 28 in my second round. Had great results the first go round!
  • @sakassab So sorry to hear, but can certainly understand your struggles! It is extremely frustrating, but know that there are plenty of us who know this struggle all too well <3 @samlowe87 that's an awesome goal! How are you doing so far? @sunnycloud82 That's awesome! I have a few friends on Keto and it's been super…
  • @chellemybell1980 I can relate to doctors not agreeing to the PCOS diagnosis. I also feel that a lot of doctors just put it off as something else and never give the right info as they don't know much about it themselves. There's so much debate as to whether PCOS causes all these issues or if all the other issues cause…
  • @DMB147 are you seeing a primary doctor or an endcorine or someone else? @kimothyschma I hope everything goes great for you!!! getting off of Metformin is awesome!
  • I started Metformin after first was born. I was in full insulin resistance. I was told I would have issues conceiving from the time I was diagnosed at 17. It's totally possible to conceive!! I was on Metformin for the first trimester with my second child, because my doc said it will help reduce the miscarriage risk.…
  • @MedicJohnson88 I wish you the best of luck. Losing with PCOS is definitely an uphill battle. The extra added stress of it definitely doesn't help with TTC. Keep up the good work and know that you are not alone in your fight! @Bwendel5210 that's awesome that you were able to lose 20lbs and 18.5 inches. That's definitely…
  • Amazing! I just recently started back on birth control and it seems to definitely be helping. That's awesome that you've lost so much!! Keep up the great work!
  • Hi Crazycatgirl, No it's no fun at all. My sister is hypo thyroid as well as a few of my friends, and I know the struggles there are huge. Also , having PCOS on top :( There's an abundance of support on MFP, I love this site!
  • Amazing and inspiring!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story!!
  • You've definitely taken some major steps toward a really great change!
  • @lenles81 you are definitely not alone. PCOS is a constant struggle. Hopefully you will find some great resources through MFP. It's been absolutely wonderful for me especially with keeping up my motivation. @chrisnurse77 how is your diet going thus far? I hope all is well! Keep up the awesome work! @equeen1801 welcome! I…
  • AHHHH Today is one of the days my scale almost got thrown out a window. I amped up my workouts even more this week and had a goal of 20k steps per day (i'm at about 75k so far in 5 days). I weighed myself today and I'm up 1.4lbs still. GRRR. I'm hoping it's just water weight or bloat of some sort or muscle or whatever.…
  • I stopped drinking sodas, as well as went gluten free, limit my rice and barely eat potatoes. Prior to, I would drink sodas 4 or more times a week, snack frequently on whatever I could, and we ate pizza once a week. Now I plan everything so I don't fall into that trap. Exercise has replaced my stress eating. I've got a…
  • @Kassi_Lynn that is so true!! I feel like If I don't work out every day, or at least do something weight training related every day, I have 0 results! How was your experience with the gastric sleeve? did you have good results? @step0055 thanks and welcome! PCOS is a beast to deal with , but as you can see from many of the…
  • @starryvagabond so glad to hear that Topamax is working for you! I'm sorry to hear that Metformin made your kidneys fail. I'm happy to hear you've found something else that is helping! Best of luck to you! @mishyfent so happy to hear your symptoms are under control! That's excellent news! Keep up the awesome work!…
  • @renevate I'm not on birth control mainly because of the weight gain. Metformin does have crappy side effects, but it's helped me. I'm now at my pre pregnancy weight from my first (8 years ago), it's taken me that long to get there. Best of luck to you!!! I've definitely found that MFP has helped tremendously with my…
  • @aceness123 , I agree with @MeganSchuyler16 , every person is different. My doctor recommended both Birth Control and Metformin for me. I was on Metformin for 7 years and stopped 8 months back. I've struggled more than ever with my weight loss, and now since I started it back 2 weeks ago, my weight is finally moving. It's…
  • @Juacline , welcome and thanks for sharing your story! Everyone is different on how their body responds to meds as well as foods, even with PCOS. One thing that has helped me tremendously is changing my diet a complete 180. @Agibelle has a great point , in my opinion, that you can control this disease with a good diet and…
  • @Redfoxwhiskers you are definitely not alone. For me, Metformin helps because it is regulating my insulin, which helps me lose weight. I was stupid, and stopped taking it 8 months back, and now am paying the price because even with calorie restricting, I wasn't losing the weight I should. I've been back on it for over a…
  • @smurphy90 I completely understand your struggles. I was on Metformin from 2009 until last July 2015 and I just started it back again. My doctor said that it takes 2-3 months to even begin to regulate cycles, if it will at all. Ugh, which is frustrating. Carbs were my weakness, anything bread, pasta, or potato related is…
  • @DancingDarl I'm glad you were finally able to get correctly diagnosed (or un diagnosed :)). Sorry to hear you were incorrectly diagnosed. My ovaries have never shown cysts in all of the ultrasounds I've had, however I have all of the other symptoms. I'm glad the parasite cleanse worked for you!
  • @cassondraragan congrats on your recent success, and feeling normal again! I completely understand post partum, gaining, etc. I actually just talked with my GYN today who put me back on metformin (was off because of the stomach upset), so he says it will take about 2-3 months to get into a regulation of my system. @Cylie5…
  • Thanks @StacyChrz ! I've already started the "weaning" process. I'm going to attempt 30 days as a challenge of dairy free, and then work from there. Hopefully it will help. I figure if I could give up the one thing I was so addicted to (breads, pastas, etc. ) I can totally do this. Thanks again!
  • @leticiafriend86 you are exactly right. Every little bit helps. I know I should be happy with my progress thus far, and I think I will start back looking at smaller goals. 100lbs seems so far away. @StacyChrz - other friends of mine keep telling me to give up dairy. I know that since giving up gluten I do feel MUCH better,…
  • Thanks! I severely limited my carb intake for the first 7 months and just recently added back Rice and potatoes (only at lunch). I went completely gluten free, but my trainer felt I should add back rice and potatoes mainly because I was limiting too much. I'm down 6lbs in the past month (which makes the total 27) so I…
