  • @MNLittleFinn you are ultra strong buddy, they wouldn't have given you the finishers gear if you weren't! Good on you for blogging btw, I wax far too poetic to produce concise work lol So provided Ben doesn't last minute decide to go hunting tomorrow I'm going to do one last good quadnihilation at Wilmore and try to log an…
  • I have and will continue to track everyday. Pretending it didn't happen doesn't change that it happened- at the very least you'll have an accurate picture of your caloric shenanigans
  • @angmarie28 do you find it worse after you run? I've found since I moved into that 18-19% BF range that I am chilled to the bone post-run everyday. Might be BF related?
  • Haha @7lenny7 if you saw the amount of money Saucony took me for this year you'd think in terms of "only" too ;) . Thats awesome about the gaiter attachment options, I've been told gaiters are basically a non-negotiable for LSU so any shoe that can more easily adapt to that is A1 in my book. Now to figure what models to…
  • Awesome feedback on Altra @seanevan10 , @MNLittleFinn and @7lenny7 , thank you! It would definitely take some doing because I don't really short distance anymore if I can avoid it...maybe carry Guide 10s on my back and switch on the road. How well do you find they last against mileage? I've only got about 3550km (or…
  • Hit goal, guess I'll go over on October afterall. Some cool stuff brewing in my running sphere atm. Random but does anybody exclusively Altra in here? My PT is trying to convince me to transition to Altra for the zero drop but I am iffy :/ October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18 October 6-…
  • I feel like @MobyCarp must be the August baby :D
  • @7lenny7 I am so excited to watch Robbins take his third (and hopefully final) bid to be the first Canuck to conquer Barkley. I was bummed I couldn't get tickets to WDGTD for the Canadian showings. I will likely settle for running one of the races in his Coastal Mountain Trail Series and being a creeper ;) @Elise4270 well…
  • It sounds like a situation where its better to wait and let it heal rather than push it and potentially be sidelined more seriously and for longer. Re: putting weight back on, have you reined your calories back in to account for the change in activity levels?
  • See this is kind of part of the issue with the perception of effortless thinness. It APPEARS like her intake is that high because it isn't concretely quantified, but I highly doubt her daily maintenance intake is 6000 even with heavy activity. For reference I only burned 6937 on the day of my 50 mile ultra including…
  • Thanks for understanding my feelz Melissa <3 . I'm glad your dad is okay as he can be btw, aging parents are one of those things no one prepares you for imo. It sounds like you handle it beautifully! Incredibly stupid vain confession ahoy. The award photos from Whistler 50 came out today and, while I knew I'd bulked my…
  • @SoulOfRusalka I'm sorry if I've missed this bit but do you have any access to mental health care in Russia through your program? Purging is obviously very detrimental to your health and as someone who has suffered from an ED you really should be seen about this resurgence and I think you know that. Furthermore (and I…
  • I am sorry @zdyb23456 , rig absences are hard enough so I can't imagine being a military family. Love to you and your kiddos- I hope the months fly by fast <3 October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18 October 6- Off October 7- 32 October 8- 18 October 9- 13 October 10- 8 October 11- 12 October…
  • Keeping it real here- I will never be entirely happy with my "end result" and in my opinion that is okay. The permanent damage I did to my body via stretchmarking can never be undone and even after having faded it is unsightly. But my current stats at 5'10" and 130 lend themselves perfectly to my distance running and my…
  • @7lenny7 thats a good point re: elites. I know there are at least three male elites in our province who are pretty insistent they run continous distance on 100 mile ultras and have times that would wash with that, but they are probably the exception rather than the rule even for their mythic people :D
  • Yeah basically only the elites will run the whole thing continuously because they are animals <3
  • Did you find that people stopped for long at the Aide Stations at Duluth? Were they hella cool? I meant to ask you that the other day! LSU100 plays up their Aide as a selling point and I think that is super cool but I also spent all of maybe 1 minute all in at Aide for all of Whistler.
  • @MNLittleFinn the thought of trying to go into a 100 miler competitively on 35 mpw is giving me anxiety :# lol
  • Is getting up earlier on long run day a possibility? I train slightly above where most people will mileage wise and I find it easier against 3AM to log substantial miles before anyone is even awake and needing me. I feel like ultra training is doable for more people than we realize if they are willing to suffer a little…
  • @MNLittleFinn as ever sir you are a beast! Love the RR and I totally agree that ultras expose your weaknesses hard. P.S. I fully expect you to come to Alberta for this suffer series :D http://www.canadiandeathrace.com/sinister_triple.php @kgirlhart my baby sister loves Zombies Run too! She's doing some 5 and 10k event with…
  • Echoing all the posters saying that activity levels matter in this equation. For example, I run long distance 6 days a week (basically a half marathon distance or so five days a week, Saturday long run around or above marathon distance) and walk all around town all day shuttling my oldest two to and from school and running…
  • I don't know what the hell happened because I swear I replied to @juliet3455 . Can you get out more with your trail group while the snow is at bay? Sometimes the grpup dynamic will force you out more. Our town's group is decidedly team "off season". Uhhh the hell is this off of which you speak? lol
  • @midwesterner85 I'm sorry it was rough going but congratulations on your first full! As a diabetic you are fighting so many factors other runners take for granted, props to you! @MNLittleFinn if I am not mistaken my ultramarathoning pal you hold the threads current distance PR! Congrats Erik, may our 2018 seasons be filled…
  • Felt kind of lame running less than 40k this morning but I am attempting to be recovery-ish since its only a week out. Bullet points from todays outing: so cold the line to my pack bladder froze, bizarre amount of cat callers for so early in the morning (getting really tired of that *kitten*), three donuts for three little…
  • @MNLittleFinn tomorrow!!! Wish I was closer by, I would totally pace for you for Duluth. I'll spiritually pace you on long run tomorrow instead ;) @girlinahat not wanting to manage other peoples' expectations is exactly why I refuse to do relay/Ragnar events. I'm on the faster end for women and especially in a female team…
  • October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18 October 6- Off October 7- 32 October 8- 18 October 9- 13 October 10- 8 October 11- 12 October 12- Off October 13- Off October 14- 86 October 15- Off October 16- Off October 17- Off October 18- 15 October 19- 16 306/450km
  • @PastorVincent if you fly a power line descent fast enough I'm sure the tics won't be able to pace you :D
  • @girlinahat I am behind thanks to my off days but I just went back and read about your run vacation and hyperventilating issues. Has that ever happened to you running solo? Or is group running maybe more anxiety than its worth for you (personally group running usually irritates the hell out of me)? The only time I have…
  • @MNLittleFinn that Jurek quote is on point @Orphia congrats on the HM! Got off my lazy *kitten* and ran this morning. 1:19 on 15k so definitely not fast but thems be the breaks. Consulted to hire an ultra trainer yesterday- hoping to run my 100's next year more competitively. October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20…
  • Good lawd you ladies have been busy! Back from Whistler 50 Mile, took second for women's open, 3rd for women all in, tenth for soloists overall- not bad! Confession: I had a consultation with an ultramarathoning trainer this morning because I am hoping to go next level at my 100's next year. I feel so weird about it though…
