When you run at 3AM all things are possible? lol. I manage to still raise my kids and spend time with my husband when he isn't on the road- you fund your priorities. @rybo absolutely, my recovery level is the exception not the rule, it just spoke well to my point that running volume is highly personal. I expect exactly…

Preach. I still have trouble with that and any reference to my "speed". @MNLittleFinn is a boss though, a newb no more :p

@PastorVincent I do multiple because I am an awkward height and head lamps, no matter how they're angled, won't give me the amount of throw I need on their own. It's rare I use all three (it would have to be super high tech terrain at night), it's usually just chest and waist on a normal day. Welcome @dreamer12151 !…

@hjeppley keeping it real here, while there are awesome waist lamps you can buy (@MNLittleFinn has one!) my cheap *kitten* just slides a head lamp down and it does the same thing. I also have taken a BD lamp apart recently and mounted the light to the chest strap of my hydration pack.

Thanks @PastorVincent , @katharmonic , @sarahthes, @kgirlhart and @juliet3455 - one of our better ones for sure! @juliet3455 loving that you rocked the shorts! I wish Edson had more than the two races it hosts per year, your group seems to have so much fun! @hjeppley I personally love running in the pitch dark and honestly…

@MobyCarp does America sell winter gear by Wind River? They sell bomb winter boots with tarantula grip and diamond bearings- best of both worlds for marshalling life! @shanaber way to race! I ended up hospitalized after Edmonton Marathon and it was effing electrolytic imbalance of all things (which as a keto runner I…

Functional jack of all trades fitness is awesome- you'll survive the zombie apocalypse for sure :D ! I'm not sure how the OP feels about racing but I train to run competitively. I only placed twice last year (on half and 50 miles), the planning against the coming season is more in depth this go around because I want a much…

Who is saying do something wildly outside your base? As far as I can see @only6icecubes was trying to point out that "too much" is subjective and almost impossible for us to judge for anyone other than ourselves. I run between 400-700km a month right now, I run ultra distance basically every weekend; that is nowhere near…

Had to call in a forest fire while I was out this morning :/ . Picked donuts up for the babies, now I have to prepare to take our middle girl to a pool party. Ugh bathing suits :# December 1- 18 December 2- 52 December 3- 20+8 December 4- 20 December 5- 16 December 6- 12 December 7- Off December 8- 29 December 9- 28…

@juliet3455 I don't suppose you saw that shared in the Sin 7 group did you? I had it shared to my Facebook page several times lol. @7lenny7 I too would be skeptical of saying it's definitely a cougar. Feline growling could just as easily be a bobcat. The cougars out at Wilmore are brave, they get sighted a lot for that…

I think it's because I would much rather have terrain differentiation, hard tech, and strategic calls to occupy my mind with than an episode of Scandal. Don't get me wrong, love Scandal lol, but when I run I want to immersed in the minutia of running. I just can't get that on the misery mill. FWIW though you are the normal…

@karllundy freak is likely the most accurate descriptor :D So I hate the treadmill...a lot...so much...effffff. Decided to do a fast 10k and wrap some Christmas presents. P.S. Does anyone know how to switch a Precor from miles to km? The manual lies and converting is a pain in my metric loving can. December 1- 18 December…

@Elise4270 yes I brought Mia in just where it was looking like the concussion I had as a kid. They said she's fine, so idk but she is incredibly angsty today. Her first words when I woke her up this morning we're, "I don't want YOU! I want Daddy!" :#

This thread is over a year old now but I thought I would update it in case someone queried something like this with the search function. Losing more weight and maintaining for over a year was the answer for me. I lift 0% of the time, run distance 6 days of 7. It can get better!

Thanks for all the kind words re: the 100 y'all- my body is rebounding better than ever which makes me feel like my training is at least in the ball park of where it needs to be. Was ready to begrudgingly put 20 on the mill tonight. My feelings on the mill are: Unfortunately baby cakes, who beat her head into the window…

@seanevan10 I take awful race photos. I mean to the point that I wonder if people are running from the gun or me :D @RespectTheKitty sorry the race is in the city :(

According to this I should retire my legs :D

I have a dreadmill in the house and a running stroller- definitely would not leave them alone!

@MNLittleFinn please advise on how to fit 103 hours into a day, I need to be that kind of Warlock lol @lporter229 and @PastorVincent during the week it's easy because they're asleep- I don't need sleep :D . The 100 mile props go to Ben though. Our agreement was he got to go get trashed at his company Christmas party with…

@7lenny7 and @MNLittleFinn Camille Heron slayed Tunnel and that was her first 100 mile attempt!!! I don't think her 100 mile time is terribly likely for me ;)

And the awful wet solid ice that effs your footing. All that is best in Canada :D

Haha yeah @juliet3455 when I run unsupported (read: always because no one likes to play with me lol) I plan like a psycho the night before and then run the whole thing with all my gear on my back. I'm not stopping if I don't absolutely have to. @PastorVincent I wanted to go sub 16 lol. I feel like I'm in good shape to run…

@garygse sorry to only be getting back to you now man! Personally, while I have heard good things about Salomon, I love me a good Nathan. I have found the Vapor Airess to be bomb. @amymoreorless that's amazing, congrats marathoner! Successfully finished 100 miles in an acceptable time frame so I'm pretty happy. Thought a…

Thank you for this, I was really curious about these cookies!

See this element of ultraing is lost on me :/ . But then again I like running the ascents too so I'm odd man out :D
-
So I am in the minority but I believe in training to 100% of distance before I race. Do you feel like it was the intensity you raced with that knocked you back post marathon? Or was it actually the distance? I think for a lot of people, myself included, it's the former but we associate it with the latter. @girlinahat good…

Congrats to your friend @shanaber ! I agree with @MNLittleFinn, gooooo! @PastorVincent I very much agree given that, once I got out of college, I worked in the tax law division of SE and I made literally less than a third of what Ben makes and he has his red seal (and no student debt since the AB government basically pays…

The former philosophy student in me is unsure whether to laugh or cry at the concept of relative usefulness as it relates to degrees. Considering Post-Secondary post Post-Secondary: The Great Existential Crises of our Time :D

Proud of you reaching your December goal @Orphia! Sorry to hear you are benched into the new year @Azercord :( @MNLittleFinn lol I can totally see myself doing that. As much as running technology is helpful it can just as easily overcomplicate things. Way to bang it out. Ran a very chill (5'28") 29k in the bush. Ben's…
