  • Lol thank you but nah that's me with my oldest girl who is now 5.
  • Ridiculously bad running day mileage wise as I had too many clingy little girls who needed attention in my house today. Ben comes back tomorrow night for his company Christmas party and then he'll be gone again by Sunday. Hopefully they don't get more upset next week after having him back for a couple days. Likelihood of…
  • Haha yes! And despite running since age 11 she has never experienced a running injury even while running that volume (though she apparently hurt herself rather badly doing yoga :D ). She is all the goals!
  • @SusanDSME like @PastorVincent said running is all about mental fortitude. The words we choose to use when we think on things are important as well. Instead of thinking "Oh my God its FOUR MILES!" Take the power away from the distance, there is not a unit of measure in existence today that can defeat you in and of itself.…
  • @PastorVincent this is just my n=1 experience but I can race a half in the high 1:30's on what feels like less effort than a sub 4 full. The half for me is a lovely distance in the sense that it doesn't require the strategy the full or ultras require- you just run as fast as you can since it's definitely less than 2 hours…
  • I mean people running ultramarathons and to a lesser extent marathons are eating a variety of solid foods while they race over hours and hours. Outside of any GI issues you may have personally there isn't a reason any meal timing relative to running should make you sick. That being said sometimes endurance work can make…
  • Often I find these are buzz words that races like to play up to attract entrants. In an age where the racing industry is starting to hemmorage money and collapse it makes sense that they would want to make themselves seem exclusive in some way. This is not helped by the fact that there are generally no tangible standard…
  • So I found out last minute yesterday that Ben was leaving again this morning so he'll basically be gone 95% of the time until Christmas going between different remote northern locations and Fort Mac. Pretty depressing but rig wife realities, so we stayed up way too late and my lazy *kitten* didn't wake up until 4 this…
  • @juliet3455 and @skippygirlsmom I'm just impressed you went to gym. I generally avoided track like the plague in primer school (faking dysentery anyone?) because my weird gait always had someone making a smart *kitten* comment. Basket ball was equally miserable because I've always been tall and everyone would assume that…
  • I actually am not opposed to this union as it addresses most of my problems. Anyone have a suggestion re: what to do with the moose? :D
  • So this morning I was going a pretty decent clip for trail (5'24") when I come up on this four way intersection at the top of North Hill. I see nothing in the lamp light whatsoever so I keep pace. And that's when this goddamn buck bolts through the intersection so close to me that I could feel the wind change between us…
  • @hjeppley Idk that I would call myself an experienced anything but I raced Whistler 50 Miler on October 14 and ran my first training run post race on October 18 (only 15k though). According to my log I was back on the same days on, days off from there on and my miles volume was back up to normal the following week with a…
  • Got bored waiting for the laundry to be done in the dryer :D December 1- 18 December 2- 52 December 3- 20+8 98/626km 2018 Races *Gord's Frozen A** 50K, February 19 *JAJA Trail Marathon, April 1 *Red Deer Marathon, May 20 ???Lone Wolf Last Man Standing Race, June 17 *Cactus Coulee Crawl 30km, TBA June *Eddie's Half…
  • It's all a matter of context- 10 miles of trail can be fun+ if it's high level tech and you're used to the distance. I find basically anything under 50k can be classified as a fun run if the tech is good enough to entertain (lousy trails needs not apply :D )
  • Thank you :) . @tlsb2016 if you have trail near you you should try that too if you're comfortable. I run almost exclusively tech trail, it is an experience and privilege unique in life to be able to fly trail
  • I grew up hating running (due in no small part to my abnormal gait from an ortho issue attracting attention) and basically lived a completely sedentary life all the way into adulthood. I didn't get fed up with my fat *kitten* until after I'd had my third baby in three years but when I decided I was over it, I got it…
  • @BruinsGal_91 I am so, so sorry for the loss of your mom. I hope you found some comfort in being with your dad in the UK <3 @MNLittleFinn dude stop picking on the poor defenseless trees :D Feel really lazy only logging 20 on a Sunday but 2 of 3 kids are down with the plague currently. December 1- 18 December 2- 52 December…
  • Pssssh you're not awesome Pastor V. You aren't just out running a pace maker- you're out running a shocking amount of guys in their 20's. And all this while holding down a full time job and spending lots of time with your little family and you know, presumably being more right with Jesus than most of us :D . So no, you…
  • I have been pretty irate lately over my calves now being too big for all my jeans (oh ultramarathon running, whatchu doing to me?). A photo came up in my cloud from around my highest weight (250's) and after comparing I realized it could be worse than my legs betraying my awesome pink size 0's- I could still be fat :#
  • Which one? We all know the wife approval is the most important one!
  • Just killing it @PastorVincent - way to go!
  • @sarahthes tell the Edmontonians I'll take their share of the ice :D . Everyone in town was complaining last night about the ice during the Santa Claus parade and I was standing there thinking "Chicka-chicka-yeah!" @MNLittleFinn thinking good coach/wife thoughts for you and the race Nice run this morning, weather was…
  • Blessedly short story. I saw him on the river line, he did not see me. There are at least 2 out there that we know of, I just was not chancing it where generally you won't know they have been stalking you until they are on top of you and you are 100% *kitten*. So that's my story of being a *kitten* lol
  • In this neck of the woods that would be asking Santa for a lot. It's hard to pull your head out of your *kitten* long enough to stop texting and driving apparently...you might get socks this year Moby :D
  • Kate's preschool is also riddled with plague- survive little men!!! Have a great run tomorrow, you're going to do awesome on 11+ <3 @LaDispute57 My husband also tells me this- is this an indicator he is about to become my ex wife :D @skippygirlsmom first congrats on the new job! Didn't get to mention it in November thread…
  • @juliet3455 Ben echoes your sentiments on Fort Mac. He's so thrilled to be spending Monday through to just before Christmas there vetting contractors :D
  • @fitoverfortymom it definitely wouldn't be for a couple years but I'll let you know. My ideal scenario big American plans for 2019 would be WS100 if I made it through the lottery and Pigtails 200 Miler in WA.
  • Welcome @AlphaHowls - I'd say you are definitely a member of the best, most obsessive club there is haha! @MNLittleFinn can't we both just be crazy together :D @PastorVincent that pun tho Enjoyed a lot of ice this morning now that Ben is back from working in the city. Will potentially go out again later after dinner and…
  • I still lol at her using the word elite @MNLittleFinn - elite and crazy aren't synonymous people and I know which one of those I actually am :D . @juliet3455 She sent me a Dear John letter after I reported my 131k time. Basically she doesn't feel that we are well matched and I need somebody with more experience. I am…
  • Lol it wasn't as much my distances as it was my times :/
