You are likely looking at a water weight gain from going out of ketosis. I lost my weight counting calories but before that I had a long history of trying other diets. People on low carb/keto diets have a tendency to drop weight fast the first few weeks because your body is losing water used to process the carbs. Once you…

Exercise is not really my thing either. But I try to get in a long walk daily. Sometimes (work days) I break it into two walks. I listen to books on Audible with my iPhone. I live in Canada so it can be brutally cold but I manage to get out most days. I agree though that exercise needs to be fun. Otherwise you won't stick…

Often times when dieting the first week or two you will see a huge drop. This is usually water weight with a little fat loss. Keto is known for water loss upfront. What then happens is the body adjusts and returns the water but fat is still being lost. The water coming back masks the fat loss. You likely are losing fat but…

that's interesting. I suspected it was the increased protein that changed it. I wonder how long I've been deficient. I always cut back meat to allow for more carbs at my low calorie level. What an interesting change this has been. My weight is finally dropping too which could just be the low carb but it's a welcome change.

I too found the Beck's Diet Solution helpful. You can get it on Kindle if you have an IPad or kindle reader. I learned a few tricks in it.

I make my own. Cut cauliflower into florets and pulse in a food processor. I generally do it in batches pulling out any big pieces for the next go round. Then I saute in a pan with a little butter. I made it for a family get together dinner one night for someone low carbing and everyone fought over it rather than the…

I understand your concerns and we all have to be diligent in keeping our heads in the game. I think your idea has merit. I learned the hard way when arriving at maintenance that I had some misconceptions about how to deal with it. In the back of my mind I was going to be able to eat lots more now that I had "arrived". One…

I have been going through this myself. I was maintaining well the first year then quit vaping and it all started to fall apart. I regained about 15 pounds of 108 that I had lost. The one thing we don't realize is that just 250 extra calories a day will put 2 pounds a month back on us. That's 24 pounds a year! What I…

This is an important point. My surgery was in Mexico and that factor alone likely is why I had so many issues. Not that they didn’t do a good job but In the city where I live only one doctor would do fills and unfills for patients who went out of country for surgery. I had gone to Mexico to meet a friend and got a fill but…

Weight Loss Surgery is a very big step so I applaud you for taking time to research it thoroughly. I had a lapband installed when that was the most popular method outside of gastric bypass. I had heaps of problems lost less than 20 lbs. I finally had it removed when I could no longer eat any food that had substance. I was…

Oh @PAV8888 I'm sorry to say I went back to vaping as I was gaining with no end in sight. I'm retiring this year however and hope to try again once I get settled.

This totally is working for me. I was eating a balanced diet but ravenous in the evening. Cutting carbs and raising protein made a huge difference for me. Not saying your plan won't work just saying if you continue to feel hungry this might help.

I have been where you have! Had my lapband removed in 2013 I think. I was fine eating candy and ice cream but forget healthy food. Before I had it removed the nurse asked me what I was going to eat first and I said broccoli. She was shocked. I know folks who had good results with theirs but I wasn't one of them. I have…

Listen you have gotten lots of information already I just wanted to say - You're my hero! Going to the gym, quitting smoking and dieting all at the same time. That's amazing. Hang in there. I lost weight, then quit vaping and even though I continued doing what had always worked I gained 15 pounds. I went back to vaping - I…

Ok, I'm sticking my neck out a bit here. When women have kids they sometimes spread those tummy muscles out and sometimes have a gap. It's called Diastasis Recti - “Diastasis recti” means your belly sticks out because the space between your left and right belly muscles has widened. ... Pregnancy puts so much pressure on…

My base maintenance is around 1400. I am 63 and 5'5" tall. I walk 6 days a week (8,000 to 13,000 steps) but on those days I get another 100 or so calories for my steps.

Just my 2 cents worth but watch your macros. I find when I get heavy on the refined carbs I start to loose control. I've been in maintenance for 3 years and my weight started climbing. I was having the same hunger issues. I went back and took a look at what I'd been eating and realized it was pretty low in protein. I upped…

I was diagnosed as prediabetic a few years ago. My doc then put me on Metformin. A few months later I was in hospital for something else and they asked me about my health history. I told them I was prediabetic and they asked if I was on any meds. I said yes and the reply was "then you are diabetic". So what I was I can't…

I lost 2 years ago and still log daily. I have relaxed a bit in the sense that I don't weigh all my food I guestimate but I believe I will always need to log my daily food. My observation has been that those who lost smaller amounts tend to maintain more naturally. Those of us who lost large amounts seem to be in more…

Congratulations on your weight loss!!! I have no comments on BMI but would like to address the skin surgery from the standpoint of someone who had it done. I lost 100 lbs and had also given birth to 2 very large babies (many, many years ago) so my abdomen was really bad. I had a tummy tuck done a couple years ago. I had a…

I was really struggling with this recently and realized that part of the problem was with my dinner. I was eating too many potatoes (or rice etc.) and not enough protein and veggie. I reduced the starch and increased both lean protein and higher fiber vegetables and found some improvement. I also have started using sugar…

Wow! you have really done a great job. I lost 108 pounds total but hit a 3 month plateau after about 85 pounds. I did the diet break and it jump started my weight loss again. Read the link above and give it a shot. Remember you don't go back to overeating, you just eat at maintenance for a week or two.
-
Welcome. You're in the right place. I'm maintaining too but have realized that there's no finish line and the battle will continue indefinitely. Having said that... I'm ready. You'll find lots of helpful ideas here. Good luck.
-
Me too! 3 months. I finally did a diet break to get going again.

I have been on this for 4 years now and maintained for 2. I still log every single meal, every single day. I don't mind at all because it keeps me thin. I'm not one of the people who can just wing it. I tend to forget how much I've eaten in a day if I don't keep track. Not only that but knowing I have to log it tends to…

Most weight loss is done by eating less calories. Exercise can give you a few extra calories but if your health stops you from doing anything strenuous then do what you can. I lost 108 pounds and all I ever did was walk and count calories. I slowly changed my diet and slowly started walking daily. If you have access to a…
