  • No, I'm not happy at my current weight. I need to get back down to at least 145. For me that's reasonable as I'm 63 so not gonna make my high school weight. My doc was happy when I was at 165 but I think I hide it well and feel I should be lower. My clothes are getting snug and I definately have excess fat. 148 I think is…
  • I had mine out years ago and as others have said I just have problems with super high fat meals as I can't digest them. Eating to MFP standards has worked for me.
  • Thank you so much @CSARdiver. This makes me feel so much better. I have been worrying myself sick because my doc wants to reduce my meds. Apparently it is showing up as though I am overmedicated now. He's waiting 6 months for a new test but I admit I've had issues sleeping at night and my moods have been swinging wildly so…
  • I feel your pain. I worked hard to lose the weight and the slightest slip costs me big time. My maintenance calories are about 1400. I think the biggest mistake I made was not weight lifting while losing. I would recommend doing that to build some muscle to raise up your BMR.
  • Me too! When I make plans to meet someone even I dread it until I get out there.
  • I guess the best thing to say is that nowadays it's not considered politically correct to comment on someone's weight even when they've lost. I have been surprised by how many people even on these boards comment that they don't like people to mention it. When I was losing I had lost about 35 pounds before someone finally…
  • 130 Pounds! Wow. Congratulations. I went through the same thing. After I lost about 80 lbs I just got stuck for about 3 months. I was so frustrated. Finally I took a diet break at maintenance calories. I was terrified! The result was I gained a couple of pounds but then started losing again and got to goal. It was slow…
  • Oh my goodness forgive me but you are all my people! I am a total introvert. I agree that some therapy might be useful. I walk when things get to be too much. It's hard to get my shoes on and go but once I'm out there it helps. Remember that your size does not define who you are. We are so conditioned to feel shame when we…
  • It is better to eat a bit higher calories and lose slower if that is more sustainable for you. If you cut too drastically you will end up binging or quitting. It took me two years to reach goal but I got there. Also you will be able to tell what calorie level works for you in a few weeks. You may be one of those people who…
  • You know the funny thing that actually really helped me? It was the "NO CHOICE" card. I never made a card but now when I really want something I tell myself no and it is amazing how that changes my perspective. Don't laugh, I know it sounds dumb but I never actually said no to myself before. It's a whole new concept for…
  • You are not alone. I went on holiday this summer and was so careful, continued logging and still gained 6 lbs. I got so depressed I gained another 3. Don't beat yourself up. I was at goal so now I know it's gonna take me about 6 months to get back down (last ten pounds syndrome). Sigh. I refuse to quit though. I keep going…
  • I really wanted to respond to this post. It really resonated with me because I lost the weight after feeling just like you. I lost about 108 pounds originally (right now I'm up from holidays). For a while I think I became a different person. Everything was just so new. I wasn't mean or nasty or anything I just was a bit…
  • I've read and used this book and found it very helpful. Just wondering how the rest of you are finding it? Every now and again I have to pull up my notes and refresh but it certainly has been a useful approach.
  • The same thing happened to me after my first diet break but since I was coming into the home stretch it turned out to be a good thing. In the end the whole thing was a great experience and I finally got to goal because of it. Congratulations on your progress! You are an inspiration to others.
  • I'm guessing you are not that overweight which means that your deficit is likely fairly small (I'm talking about how many calories you are eating versus what you are burning). 1200 calories is not alot of food so the question @Justin_7272 asked is appropriate. You should NOT go below 1200 even if you're tempted. When you…
  • Hi Noah, You've had some great advice here so I will just highlight the things that I think are the best. First off congratulations on losing 33 pounds! Well done. I lost alot of weight and for me the last 20% took a year to lose. So be patient and I agree that you should change to .5 lbs per week. The next thing is the…
  • I was thinking the same thing as @AnnPT77. Whenever I have had my cholesterol tested I had to fast at least 10 hours first. I wouldn't panic yet.
  • This made me chuckle. I often think about the butter debate. When I was a child everyone got rid of butter and switched to margarine. Now margarine is the devil. I think we all have to just relax and do the best we can. There are so many things that we can't control in life. My dad used to say "everything matters, but…
  • Welcome! You are so smart to look forward to health now. I waited far too long to get my ducks in a row.
  • Hey folks just wanted to mention a group board you might want to connect with. It's called large losers and is very supportive of those of us who have or want to lose 100 lbs or more. Great people on there who understand the struggle.
  • shredded cabbage is my go to when I want to bulk up a meal. Great in a stir fry. I use it instead of lettuce for salad or tacos.
  • Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't see this before; I could have made some prep suggestions. I had a tummy tuck done 2 years ago due to similar issues that you were experiencing. I had a large flap of skin that I got yeast infections under. I won't go into the gory details as I am sure you already know. After surgery I had alot of…
  • I'm jumping in... Today's goal is no snacking after 6:00 pm and to have at least 100 calories left over.
  • This was facinating to me. I agree you probably are already at a healthy weight. I am 5'5.5" and weigh 155 and my waist is around 35 inches. I am fat. You are not. I think you just have more muscle than most. If you feel good and look good then don't worry about the numbers. Congratulations on your weight loss and double…
  • I fell into maintenance as I never reached my original goal. I just stopped losing. I have been in maintenance 2 years. The last year has been tougher as I have gained a few pounds and am now restricting even more to try to get a handle on it. It seems to me that maintenance has it's own challenges because you no longer…
  • Wow, I feel your pain. I am 5'5.5" and lost 108 lbs. I've regained 12 after 2 years of maintenance. Most of the gain (9 pounds) was this year. I didn't know what to do and was panicking about it. I finally accepted where I am and have forced myself to weigh once a week and to get back to a modest deficit. It took me a year…
  • So much good advice on here already so I won't repeat. I just want to add to those who lost; it took me 2 years to lose 100 lbs. But it was worth every minute to get here. Also still logging 2 years later. Once you get to goal you are going to have to continue what you have been doing for the rest of your life. Chances are…
  • The biggest change for me was knowing that I would be making a permanent change. Diets by definition seem to be viewed as temporary. I lost my weight and reached goal 2 years ago. I still log every day. I still watch what I eat very carefully. Yes sometimes I want to eat like I used to but for the most part I have changed…
  • Your post really resonated with me. I was morbidly obese my entire adult life. At 59 I finally got fed up with it. I was staring down the likelihood of stroke and all the other scary side effects of being that big. It made me finally change. So it can be done. Take it slow. I know you want to lose 4 lbs. a week because you…
  • This is nonsense for the most part. It's about as true as running your car without gas will cause better gas mileage. What it does cause is binge eating because you get too hungry which affects weight loss. Don't worry about that at all. Pick a reasonable goal and stick with it. You will do great.
