The only possible explanation I can see to your cousin's comment other than possibly an excuse is if she's trying Keto. It aboslutely doesn't work for me without a gall bladder. If I eat that way I get physically sick. I tried taking ox bile and that didn't help either. She should be able to go on a low calorie diet though…

Yeah, my water pill was a pretty small dose. I was on 2 doses of the Vasotec per day but the indapimide was such a tiny pill that it couldn't have been real strong. Just the same my weight went up a fair bit when I quit taking it.

At your height and weight you are already in the normal range. First of all it's really hard to lose weight when you are that close to where you want to be. It can take a very long time. As others have said you may well be eating more than you think you are. Also can you really eat less and be happy? Sometimes we have an…

I went off cold turkey just like you did but under docs orders and the water took a couple of months to stabilize. I will warn you though that after two years I am back on the meds because although I managed to maintain my weight my high blood pressure came back. I'm bummed out about it but the headaches were killing me. I…

Thanks for asking this! I keep threatening to rejoin the gym and start swimming. I walk about 5 or 6 miles several times a week and a couple weeks ago I decided to get on my bike. Well I experienced exactly what you have with swimming. I lasted about 10 minutes. I think it has to do with different muscles being used and…

This! But for me it meant that I could have more variety because no foods were out of bounds because of arbitrary points assigned to make them too costly to enjoy. Take your time and learn what works for you.
-
Mine was removed years ago and I have lost 100 lbs. It made no difference for me.
-
I live in Alberta so we have much less variety than you do in the East. But glad to hear you have tried and enjoyed them. I like that they are only 100 calories. I've had better bagels but not for this calorie count.
-
Found these for bagel substitution. They have a bit tougher texture untoasted but toasted with cream cheese are pretty good. Bought them at Walmart and have 100 calories each. They are kind of like the thin bagels I love in the US and are also gluten free if you have issues with gluten.

Just a vote for the diet break and my experience. Just for background I went from an all time high of 251 pounds to 143 pounds in total. Actually right now I'm at 153 because of holidays. In January 2015 I started dieting seriously by eating 1200 calories/day. By 2016 I was stuck and remained so for 3 months. I was still…

Oh, I feel your pain. I actually fell into maintenance by just not losing anymore. So actually I didn't get any extra calories at all in maintenance! But I have to say that I don't ever want that 100 lbs. back so I'll suck it up and live with it. Hang in there. At least as a runner you can earn alot more calories than I do…

I agree with the other posters. You are likely trying to change too much too fast. Start slow maybe by eliminating the foods that seem to cause the most trouble. Find things that are better to eat that you enjoy. If you force yourself to eat things you hate you won't last. Try things you haven't before to see what appeals…

While being able to get fresh veggies and lower fat meats makes it easier to keep calories in check, you can still eat smaller portions to get the extra weight off. Adding more activity is a great start to feeling better about yourself and improving your health. If you eat food that is higher in fibre such as whole grain…

Thanks for sharing @NovusDies. It's a good reminder. I've been trying all summer to get rid of the 6 lbs. I gained on holiday and every time I cut way down I fall apart. This just confirms that I need to relax and take my time. Hope you get to the goal you need soon so you can get the surgery over with and heal.

I took it many years ago and like most of the folks here said I gained everything back. I finally came here and lost about 100 lbs without any drugs. The trouble with things like phentermine is that they are temporary and you don't learn anything. I wouldn't bother with it.

Oh my goodness. I have fallen prey to the "everything is the same worldwide" thinking of North Americans. I had no idea there were no bears in Australia. My mistake.

We used to eat out all the time before I lost weight. I learned that it wasn't worth the calories to me. Once I had a repertoire of dishes I liked to make that were more satisfying it became easier. I agree with cooking in bulk. I tend to make things that can be transformed. For example if I am cooking chicken I will cook…

Just a thought on the pepper spray issue... I live in Canada and it's illegal here too but bear spray isn't. If you can buy bear spray it's the same thing. Check that out.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Vacation In July and I counted calories but had a couple of big days over my ten day vacation. Came back about 6 pounds heavier and still can't get it off. I had to remind myself that it took me almost a year to lose the last 20 pounds before so I guess it's gonna be a long haul to lose the 6…

I quit WW just as the Freestyle thing came out and lost all my weight with MFP and have maintained for two years. Welcome, I think you will find a great community here.

I'm not a bodybuilder, yet, but I wanted to comment on the skin issue. I lost alot of weight 2 years ago. It has taken until now for my skin to recover. I am in my 60's so I still have some loose skin but it's definately much better than 2 years ago. Give your body some time to accept the new weight and adjust accordingly.…

Just one observation. When switching from a carb heavy to low carb diet you will naturally lose some weight due to water loss. This is due to your glycogen stores being depleated. Once that is done you should level off. I wouldn't make any permanent changes just yet to your maintenance calorie level.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! You probably saved some lives. Best of luck in your continuing journey.

Yes it is. Discussions on VLCD (very low calorie diets) are not allowed on the forums so you may see this thread get closed. As a man you need more than that for healthy body functions. You will lose muscle as well as fat which is not what you should be shooting for. Don't forget your heart is a muscle. Increase to a…

You know it's funny but I understand how not taking pictures before losing can be a mistake. Now that I'm in maintenance and have been for a couple years believe it or not I've forgotten exactly how bad it had gotten. Looking back at those pictures now encourages me to stay on track when I might have overeaten. Maybe not…

Oh, I would love to be able to eat 2000 cal/day. My Maintenance runs at 1350 - 1400/day before exercise. I'm 5'5" and 145 - 150. Everyone is different.
