One observation on measuring vs weighing... I love Boom Chicka Pop popcorn. The bag says 7.5 cups is 250 calories. Now that's alot of popcorn. It also says that's 50 grams. NOT. I started weighing it instead and it is alot heavier than the bag indicates. I found I was probably going over on popcorn alone by 100 or more…

This was my thought exactly. All symptoms of low thyroid or starvation. Hopefully the doc will have some insights. Hope you feel better soon!

Also been looking for a bagel that I could cut thinner that would work out the same and found none. Most bagels weigh in at 280 or more and sliced in four would still not give me two pieces for 100 calories. Do you have suggestions for something I might find here in the west?

Also I weighed 251 pounds and am 5'5" tall so I lost 108 pounds. I'm currently fighting a 15 pound weight gain from quitting nicotine. Sigh, the battle continues.

I paid for the surgery myself although my doctor was very supportive. I had High blood pressure and was type 2 diabetic.

Calories are what drive weight loss. Carbs however can create a water weight gain particularly if you have been low carbing. Eat what you can stick with for life. As for setting the goal for December I would suggest not getting hung up on it. Do your best between now and then. Your family will be so thrilled to see you…

I've known people who have lost successfully with WLS and people who have lost without it. I tried WLS (Lapband) and failed. A few years later after the band was removed I came here and lost over 100 pounds. I think @NovusDies is correct. Either way it can be a tool but the actual changes have to come from you. I believe…

I had it done and I even had alot of complications and I'm still glad I did it. The difference in clothing is life changing. The yeast infections I used to suffer constantly have gone away and I don't have a roll around my middle anymore. I will say @CharlesScott78 that I am terrified of gaining the weight back though. I'm…

Gotta second this. In the past I've had days where I didn't want to log because I was sure I was ridiculously over but I logged anyway and it was never as bad as I thought it was. In fact sometimes I was still within maintenance which means I just delayed my losses. It was actually encouraging in the end. Always, always…

@FitBy_50 you are so welcome here. I have been on MFP since 2015 and I can safely say that the people are amazing but this group is even safer than the other boards. I think @NovusDies deserves credit for his input there. I started out originally at 251 pounds and finally got down to 143. It took me 2 years but I was 59…

I hear ya. You've done so well you should be proud.

I don't plan the week ahead but daily I have a pretty good idea of what I'll be having. Like many said on here I eat the same basic things for lunch and breakfast so dinner is the larger and more variable meal each day. My breakfast is usually on of three items and lunch is one of two items that I have either cooked or…

I'd make an appointment and get it adjusted. That's pretty low and miserable to never know if you are going to keel over. You don't want to have a fall and injur yourself. Hang in there.

Could be a water issue. Sometimes when you lose really fast at the beginning alot of the drop is water. Then when your body realizes that this is the new normal it reintroduces the same water level which can mask subsequent fat loss. I would keep going for a while and see if it starts dropping again. Since you said clothes…

I've seen people helped by Chiro and people who were just fleeced. I personally visited 2 and neither helped. I will likely never try again. Unfortunately it is such a fuzzy science that the bad ones make it hard for the good ones. If I ever was desperate enough to try again I would certainly go by word of mouth. Also as…

Just a pic that shows how deadly "cheat" days can be:
-
Can you give us a bit more information? How long have you been dieting? What rate of loss did you choose? Before the stall did you have a big loss? How much do you have left to lose? Are you weighing your food? Do you have "cheat" days? So many things can affect the response. If you are close to goal this is very common…

Yup, what is doubly frustrating is that every store is different. They all want ot sell to you online but how do you know what size to order??? Bugs the heck out of me.

Just my two cents worth on weighing vs measuring. I love Boom Chick a pop popcorn so I eat it almost every day for a snack. The bag says 50 grams or 7.5 cups = 250 calories. So I measured it but that actually weighs more like 80 grams. There's a difference right there of 150 calories. Since my deficit is only 250 calories…

Welcome and congratulations on your loss of 15 lbs! Might not seem like alot but it's a great start. I am especially impressed that you kept it off even though you hit a rough patch. Lots of good advice here but what I would say is don't overdo it at the beginning. That's what makes people give up. Work at a deficit and I…

Oh my heart aches for you. I remember feeling that way too. I hated myself for getting so big and I thought I could never lose the weight. I topped out at 251 pounds at least that was the last time I got on the scale. After that I didn't want to know. At the age of 59 I realized I was headed somewhere really bad. I knew I…

Personally I found the last study you linked incredibly interesting since they used Saccharine instead of sugar in the test. Thank you so much for sharing this. I've been struggling in maintenance and wondered if my sugar substitutes had anything to do with it. I just want to mention that I use them excessively not just…

I know I logged but they tell me there’s no way to recover it. So no point in going premium since they lost half my data anyway. Their explanation was that it might not have synced which is possible but it would have had to happen many, many times. Since I’ve paid nothing I’ll just have to cut my loses. I still love the…

I had the same experience with daily weighing. Some folks swear by it but it just depressed me. I weigh once a week. Good luck.

Yes, mine is the same. Seems like odd days are just gone. January 1st is missing but the 14th is there etc.

I read her books and highly recommend them. I haven't bought the workbook but have considered it. I have alot of notes electronically and find it really helpful to go back and reconnect from time to time. Before I lost weight I listed all the reasons I wanted to lose and it really helps when things get tough to go back and…

It makes me very sick too. Truthfully it's not sustainable for me anyway so I shouldn't have even tried it. I also have no gall bladder so I bought ox bile tablets and they didn't help. The only people who should use this diet are those who need it for medical reasons or those who feel they can sustain the eating style…

Just took a look by the day and much of it is already gone. I think they have already removed some of the data. I've been on here since 2015 but when I try to pull up the days they are blank.

I'm getting varying amounts of time as well no matter what date range I choose. Mostly I get about 2 months at a time. Very frustrating.

I think this and the method of measurement is probably the case unless they lost alot of water due to a Keto diet in which case the water loss is very high. When I did low carb I often lost about 10 lbs of water. Once I started eating carbs again it came back.
