  • I usually make a smoothie, throwing in whatever produce I have and then adding extras as needed. Personally, protein isn't an important macro for me to watch for, but I have been known to add a few scoops of protein powder if I need a boost. This morning was spinach, blueberries, a green apple and some coconut water. A…
  • If your goal is weight loss, then CICO is fine. As long as it fits your calories, and is resulting in weight loss, do whatever works. That being said, being healthy goes beyond a number on a scale. Personally it's important for me to meet my nutritional goals as well, so I focus on clean eating as well as calories. I don't…
  • Nearly every day. It's 9am and my lunch is logged lol. Sometimes I'll even plan the next day, too. I think it's fun. I don't always stick to what I logged and might make changes, but I love knowing my numbers ahead of time. Sometimes I'll plan on a meal and after logging, it's too high in a micro I don't want to increase…
  • I am not a doctor or an expert on nutrition and I can't really comment on whether actual metabolic damage is real. I do know however that it can take years to recover from extended periods of time of unhealthy eating, yo-yo dieting, or eating disorders. Whether or not the recovery is due to mental aspects or physical ones,…
  • Sometimes it's a good idea to also track your measurements, because although the scale may not move or even move the wrong way your measurements are improving. As to why you gained it could be anything. Muscle gain, water retention, like the poster above me said it could even be poo. If you're eating healthy and working…
  • I will add you too. I think the community aspect is extremely important for motivation and accountability :)
  • In fairness guys, when I said that a glass of juice might be more nutritionally sound than KFC, I wasn't talking about the grilled chicken and salad option lol. If we're talking about a one-off situation and all else being equal, a glass of green juice with spinach and other produce is going to be healthier then an extra…
  • I know where you're coming from. It's hard to go from years not really paying attention 2 the quality of what you're eating and the nutritional content of it, to knowing what is in everything. For me it was kind of like a light switch was being turned on, and you can't unlearn the knowledge. Once I became aware of how many…
  • I used Weight Watchers for about a month. I lost a little bit of weight, but I didn't enjoy the program. I like being able to track my macros and even my micros and Weight Watchers did not make that easy. For me it's not all about the calories it's also about the quantity vs quality. I also didn't like that they penalize…
  • Right. If the choices are KFC vs juice, I don't think any reasonable person would argue against juice. However that's comparing apples and oranges (no pun intended). There's a myriad of foods in between orange juice and crispy chicken, many of which offer more nutritional value than a glass of juice.
  • Hi! I'm on about 1400 cals but I usually end the day a few hundred belle that (not on purpose, I just don't eat when not hungry anymore). My biggest tip is to make the bulk of your diet whole foods, mostly fruits and vegetables. They're full of fiber and water which will keep you full. 400 calories of zucchini pasta with…
  • There's also the risk that when you drink your calories, you aren't always as conscious of it. Same goes whether it's a juice or smoothie. It's easy to chug seven oranges worth of juice. Having that on top of more food is an easy way to go way over calories (and sugar and carbs if you monitor those)
  • I don't like juicing. You remove the fiber and nutrients found in the skin and are left with just the sugar. Like the poster above me, smoothies are the way to go in my opinion. You retain all of the fiber and nutrients that way. If smoothies are too thick for your liking, you can add water to thin it out. I make a green…
  • I think it depends on what your overall goal is. If it's strictly to lose weight, do what works. For me, I want to lose weight by eating healthier and focusing on nutrition. I think it would be important to at least look at the nutritional content of the food that you put into your diary. I don't know about you, but after…
  • Feel free to add me guys, too!
  • Hi there, I have a total of 160 pounds to lose and I've lost about 30 of it so far. I can say that (for me) it does get easier as you go on, so don't give up. On days when it's tough, think of how you'll feel in a year from now, looking back. Sometimes I get discouraged because it seems to take so long to lose the weight.…
