Take this opportunity to learn something. Look up some Anatomy and Physiology and study the muscles, or the endocrine system, or whatever. It might give you some insight. Don't like A&P, catch up on your math, or chemistry, or whatever. Pretend you're in school and just take notes on whatever interests you online.…

Find a healthy burger (veggie, turkey, whatever) and have one once in a while. Small servings of tasty food can be as satisfying (to me) as the fast-food counterparts. And since it's healthy it's a win-win. Just don't eat any food out of hysterical craving, cause that's the road back the way you came! I'm guessing...

If I were you, I'd keep your diet basically the same (assuming it is healthy and within your caloric limit) and consider getting a heart-rate monitor. You might not be working out as intensely as you think/feel. I tried one of her Biggest Loser videos, and I couldn't keep up. If I did, my heart rate was not very high at…

Exactly. Acknowledge that is was not a good idea and move on. Try not to do it again, and stick to a long-term regimen of foods that keep you satisfied without a feeling that you need to binge. If you can't do that, there's a good chance you will be chasing your tail for a long time.

Ya, that's pretty typical in my experience too. I opt for ground turkey, it always has a lot less liquid afterward. As far as how much of it is fat as opposed to water, I've seen a lot of it solidify, so... ya that's fat. Still less than beef, and with the right seasonings, it tastes good to me. I do love me a good steak…

Ya, in general. A length would be one length of the pool, and that can vary, but I think the standard is 25 meters. I don't remember what that is in yards/feet. As long as you're adding distance, or decreasing time, you will definitely lose weight, so don't get too caught up in the actual distances just yet, focus on how…

A cup of quinoa with a poached egg is awesome! Season it with cardamom and oregano, you won't even need salt! Or, try adding your eggs to some beans, cheese and a tortilla for a breakfast burrito. Don't forget the greens!

Depending on your salad, you might consider adding slices of orange or tangerine (and a little of the zest) to the salad, maybe with some sliced almonds. Beans count as I meat I think, but you can add those with some cheese and hot sauce and have a sort of taco salad (without the extra calories from the chips/shell). Maybe…

For me it is more useful as a comparative calorie burn tracker. So, if I job for an hour and it says I burned 900 calories, then when I ride the static bike at the gym, I don't leave until I get the same 900 calories. That's not exactly what I do, but that's the idea. It's helpful to compare workouts. It's especially…

Gathering up the courage to go to the gym might help you get out of the house in general and take your life back. If your town is really that toxic to your well-being, you can always move, if that's what it takes. I hated living in a small town (Abilene, TX has a pop of around 100K, and that is small for me, yours might be…

I know how you feel, I was ashamed to be seen in there, I was so depressed. I felt like I had to lose weight BEFORE I could "deserve" to go thru the door. I don't remember what it was that helped me change my mind, but I can tell you this: Nobody in the gym cares what you look like or what you are doing. They are no more…

You can steam frozen fish fillets in like 15 minutes, meanwhile nuke some frozen veggies in a little water. Not exactly what you asked for, but it's quick and easy. Another variation on your rice and chicken; swap out the meats, or try beans instead, or switch up the flavorings. Use hot sauce, BBQ sauce or soy sauce to…

My daily meals include 2-3 fruit servings, sometimes yogurt or cheese and sometimes I make a smoothie with bananas and walnuts. I don't crave the relatively unhealthy foods I used to, so I don't feel deprived enough to ruin my gains. I hope that everyone trying to lose weight can adopt a long-term solution where you don't…

I once devoured a box of Mars bars from Sam's in like 5 days. That's what a super-strict diet did to me.

If you're looking for food ideas, check out the DASH diet. It's worth a few minutes of research, and it might be just what you're looking for. I don't think it shows the GI of the food though.

Right on! That's what I do, and for the peanut butter I use PBfit. It's all the flavor of peanut butter with a much lower fat content. You can add greek yogurt for more protein, and I always add rolled oats as a thickener, adds protein and fiber too. Oh ya, and maybe some wheat germ while you're at it. If you like carrots…

Breast stroke is probably going to be the best for you if you're trying to build up endurance. I say this because it doesn't require the coordination of freestyle or the decision to hold your breath and bury your face in the water for a few strokes, or try to hold your neck up high and keep it up the entire time (both make…

Alton Brown has pretty decent recipe for "Tuna Croquettes" which are basically tuna burgers. You can adjust the recipe to lower the sodium, and add whatever you want, but they're a delicious way to eat some tuna without mayo or tarter sauce.
