I agree the map without a touchscreen can be a bit clutzy, but I rarely mess around with it. I'm usually following a track either I or someone else already made so I zoom out just enough so that I can see my turns and still have some context, then I leave it alone. It will remain to be seen if you processing the speed is…

All good points, but I'm willing to deal it for topo maps!

Awesome. I bought my 3HR in April so it will work out.
-
I want that. I purchased my Fenix 3 from REI so I have a year to return it. Any word on when the 5 will be available?
-
Sounds like you've got it under control. Feel better!

I do believe in walking the walk, but even if the guy was fit his goals may not match yours, which shouldn't be held against him. Perhaps he's lost 200 pounds already, or is ridiculously strong. If he knows his stuff I'll listen to him.

Sorry to hear that. Were you doing strict form on pullups with a slow eccentric? If you were swinging, kipping, or coming down too fast that could be definitely shred the ligaments and tendons. Hope you feel better!

I agree, and you are don't actually have to achieve it, but if you're TRYING to, it will help ensure you aren't short changing yourself at the top by craning your neck to get the chin over the bar and helps you get a squeeze up there.

Overall that looks a hell of a lot better. The first set was the best. You took your time on the up and down without any jerking, and hit a true dead hang in between. I say keep this your focus and try to slow down the time at the top (get a good squeeze of the lats there) and the negative even more. Pullups are awesome…

Thanks, it's a work in progress!

Make smaller more attainable goals. Also make goals besides the weight loss. Why do you want to lose? Is it to turn heads? To run a Spartan? To kick *kitten*? Think beyond the weight loss and look to what you can do when you get there. Good luck!

I did send one. Strange. Perhaps I've been banned. I'll try again. Great progression. 10 in good form is better than most!

I wouldn't stop because of a little leg movement, as long as it's for only the last few reps. If it's all the reps I would focus on negatives (you can't kick during a negative), or even doing slow ones with an assist band (there's no shame in it, that's how I got started). Good luck!

It's all subject to change, but as of right now there isn't any documented problem with the Garmin/MFP connection: https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status

You'd be surprised what you can accomplish with bands attached to the top of the rack.
-
Not much room at the bottom (about a foot or so from where my feet are: I have monkey arms). I hear what you're saying but I'd rather separate my core work from the pullups, which to me are meant to accomplish only one thing.

I won't hijack the thread except to say I'm in it for life, and I got a thousand pound power rack for a fifth of the price of the monster lite you're showing here. Got a 300# olympic set for I can't even imagine how much less than the comparable from rogue. My bar is cheap and will need replacement, the rest of it will…

I don't mind a little movement to get out a few extra reps but it has to be small without extra momentum.
-
Thanks, I need to work on keeping my legs still as I get tired.

Good idea. Critics welcome: https://youtu.be/exntDeb_uMc

For the life of me I can't upload this file. It's a pretty small mp4 file. I keep getting the message "file not allowed."

You have to do what works for you. That said, there are many threads about this kind of thing. Trust me, no one is looking, and if they are it's to admire you for working hard, no matter what your body shape or size. There is some benefit to strength training while you're losing weight. If you don't want to go to the gym,…

Yep, but I don't want to discourage him. It's a great idea to get better at pullups for anyone.
-
I get it. This one isn't bad. It has a pretty small footprint and is only 84" high. They also sell one that's 6', although you can forget about doing pullups with it.
-
I guess I'm just picky. It looks to me like you're going too fast and using some momentum. I'm doing mine in a bit and I'll film a set.
-
I agree supersets won't help you lose weight. They will add a cardio component to your strength training, which is always good, but it shouldn't be your main focus if your goal is to achieve weight loss. That said, supersets are typically used for muscle groups that oppose each other. (Such as chest/back, biceps/triceps,…

A good plan. I've been doing something similar over the last few months. One thing I find helps is making those last couple of sets super slow (after all, you're only doing 3 at that point). I make numbers based upon my current max and do 5 sets. For example, my current max is 12 so today I'm doing 11,8,8,5,4. Doing tons…

I found a 1000 pound open design squat rack on Amazon for $190. It doesn't have to be a dream.
-
Powerblock dumbells are much better than the Select Tech. I wouldn't go Smith machine either. I just bought a squat rack on Amazon and an Olympic set from Dick's. Everything cost less than 400 bucks. A pullup bar is a good idea as well although most squat racks already have one.

I would look into bodyweight workouts. You'll likely get more out of it than working with 8 pound weights. I like Athlean Xero but it costs money. Many here seem to like fitnessblender.
