I don't know much about XX except it's geared towards women, is on dvd instead of through a portal, and doesn't use Jeff C as the trainer. It seems to me it isn't really representative of what Athlean X currently is, and was kind of shoehorned into the business to appeal to women during a time when AX was still in its…

Mine is in my garage in New England. I dream of better insulation.

I don't schedule rest but I take it if needed. If my resting HR is increasing, if my performance is suffering, or if I feel like I'm getting sick, I'll take one. If none of these things happen I'll take one anyway every 10 days or so and do some yoga. I might also take a rest day if life happens and the schedule requires…

Don't forget about fats. Depending upon your workouts they can be just as important as carbs for energy.

Bodyweight exercise requires no equipment and can be done anywhere. Check out darebee.com, and You Are Your Own Gym.

If you eat in a 500 calorie deficit every day you should lose a pound per week. So if you went over by 400 one day and kept the deficit for the rest of the week you would have a 2600 calorie total deficit instead of 3500. So you would lose less but still lose. OK course we all know it isn't that clean and linear but you…

Unless you want a smaller one or the topos(that's me) I agree there isn't much need to upgrade.

The only way to get better at pullups is to keep trying them! Use an assisted band as needed, and focus on negatives. Pullups are a great exercise for negatives.

Another vote for bodyweight. Check out darebee.com for a ton of free workouts, updated daily.

My gym is in the garage and it's winter in New England. Shoes.

Two things. If you have access to a TRX it's a great way to play with angles and progression. Second, a pushup has an ascending strength curve, meaning it gets easier as you get to the top of the motion. The "sticking point" is at the bottom, and I'm guessing that's where you're having trouble. Try slowing down the…

Tool. You're welcome!

Insanity will definitely give you a cardio workout. "toning" is really about losing fat and gaining muscle. It's difficult but not impossible to do both at the same time. If you're restricting yourself to beachbody workouts one day of the the p90x programs might be you best bet. You'll get strength as well as some…

Got it, and my math was way off! I'm going to wait and see what it looks like but knowing me I'll pull it the trigger.

A couple of things: Machines, cables, freeweights. All have their advantages and everyone has their preferences. I'm personally a big fan of freeweights, partially because I have a home gym, but also because to me lifting isn't just about the up and down, it's about the control. I've seen plenty of guys bench press the…

Max 30 has modifiers for every move, so it can absolutely be done by a beginner. The important take home from Insanity workouts is YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO AS FAST AS THE PEOPLE IN THE VIDEO. Do your best, rest when you need to, and keep trying to get better. Work safely and keep it under control and you will be fine as a…

These are all good answers but without knowing what your actual goals are, it's impossible to know if they are goo answers for you...

Fork put-downs is the best in my experience!

Good for you! There is no right or wrong if it's cheaper to join a gym. There are too many variables to say it's true or not. I have everything I need in my home gym and spent about 1500 bucks. Most gyms cost at least 30 bucks a month so that would only get me about 4 years there. I've already been using my gear for 5 so…

I think the most important thing is to log EVERYTHING no matter how bad it looks. It helps keep me honest and accountable. I'm also a believer in making my diary public although that isn't for everyone.

You're worrying too much. Life happens sometimes. Search "Hawaiian pizza" and put something in. Search "garlic bread" and put something in. If you're over don't stress or punish yourself, or starve yourself at dinner . These are traits of people who aren't in it for the long haul. Obviously you don't want to do this…

Hard to say as I wasn't tracking that. I was on vacation and was just trying to hold down the fort until I got back to my garage gym. This particular program always demands work until failure, so if I was going to guess based upon my physical changes, I did get stronger in the program (more reps) but I don't know if I…

I've been there. Shaun T is an excellent motivator. I've done Insanity, Max 30, and the Asylum 1&2, and they're all excellent programs.

You haven't mentioned your goals. If you're looking for cardio I'd go with Insanity. It requires no equipment and will kick your butt. If you're looking for strength training I'd go with bodyweight workouts (which will get you much better results IMO than working with 5# db's). A pullup bar and assist band would be on my…

This isn't true. The body looks first to glucose as an energy source, especially in short duration and high intensity workouts. As the body works longer, a higher percentage of energy comes from fats. Protein breakdown for energy is more complex, and is a last resort.…

Sorry I don't know where the hell that math came from!

I checked out darebee and that is an awesome resource for free. I still prefer athlean xero for myself but for free this is about as well as you're going to do! My only concern is they can disappear at any time if the funding doesn't come through.

My enthusiasm is waning. The 5x is going to be even bigger and heavier than the 3HR. 98 grams! That's over a pound sitting on your wrist. I'm not a big guy so the 3HR is really pushing the limit for me. The 5x looks great but other than the topos there isn't that much I'm excited about. I'm not an ultra distance guy so…

I was pretty much traveling all summer and didn't lift a weight for almost 8 weeks. I did nothing but bodyweight workouts and Insanity programs. I lost a bit of strength but not as much as I expected, and I shed some serious body fat. Bodyweight is the real deal if you have the right program and give it your full effort. I…

Amazon has a thousand pound rated TDS open power rack with a pullup bar for 190 bucks. You can get a 300 pound Olympic set with a cheap bar at dicks for 200. No bench recommendations, I got a 500 pound rated one cheap on Amazon.
