<pout> I didn't get to swim today because work </pout> Larisa

I can't wait to be able to wake up and go swim and swim, instead of just trying to keep myself together for a whole lap

Good morning, Ladies! Beautiful family pics! <3 Larisa

Heeee! I mean, I wouldn't object, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.  Larisa

Swim class today  My crawl stroke side breathing is holding together more consistently, for entire lengths, and I got some pointers that make my back stroke move me through the water faster. Yay!

HAHAHA well not too much to dish, yet; I've had a couple of suitors, the last few months, neither one quite right: a 42-year-old PhD in computer science, very charming, very adorable, but morbidly obese...and a 46-year-old, 6'6" trainer-actor-model, very fit, great sense of humor, but not very intellectual, and you know,…

Good morning, Ladies! I'm off to chair the caucus for my local precinct. I'm nervous! Rosie, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with such awful treatment. Stay safe, okay? Don't let love or duty or guilt or, well, anything keep you from standing up for your rights. *sending hugs Chris, congrats on meeting someone dateable!…

Check out the WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR MARCH 2016 thread. (There will be a new thread for April). I joined them about three weeks ago; they're a very fun bunch of ladies! Also, I'll be your friend if you want  Larisa in Seattle

Mary I'm sorry to hear about your health troubles! I'm glad you have a diagnosis so now you can begin addressing it, and clearly you are a superhero! to be keeping up your exercise program so well. <3 CSSJ09 (sorry, I don't know your name ) I love the NWF wildlife habitat program. I have a fifth-floor patio garden on…

OMG hips. I've had both of mine resurfaced (better in my case, than replacement). I feel for you both! Larisa

TMI: I'm so over ovulating! I've been doing that **** for 40 years...I could quit now. Really. I was on the bus to the pool when the pain kicked in. Fortunately, nothing can overcome my joy of being in the water. Larisa in Seattle

I swam(ish). I can finally hold my crawl stroke/side breathing together for an entire length, and I can do a few laps in a row, of back stroke... I kept moving, between those two and (a very clumsy) breast stroke, for over half an hour... the rest of the time, I jumped. I'm not allowed to jump, on dry land, so I…

Lenora, it was your birthday? Happy day-after-birthday! Larisa

Lifting day for me; swim class tomorrow  Thanks for the lovely welcome messages!

Yay spring flowers! Thanks for sharing those, Margaret.

I'm 53 and probably edging into peri-menopause (late bloomer ), eating high protein and working out every day, and losing 3 lbs per week (I'm 5'11"; women of average height should expect to lose slower)...anyway I swear by protein and exercise on top of counting calories.

Thank you girlwithcurls2! Wow, over a mile; that's fantastic! I have to admit I'd be pretty frustrated by now, the way I'm struggling with crawl stroke, but I seem to have somehow shipped with backstroke pre-installed, so that saves me every session. I'm hoping to start learning butterfly stroke this summer, but stubbornly…

I swam for the second time ever on my own with no instructor...yep, that's still a big deal for me. I'm super envious of everyone posting their yards or meters; I'm counting backstroke in laps, but crawl stroke in breaths  and of course I lost count...but I'm up to 20 minutes of fairly continuous swimming, so…

For what it's worth, I've only been here a couple weeks, and these ladies have been nothing but kind, friendly, and inspiring. That seems very reasonable. I'm 5'11" and you couldn't pay me to weigh less than 180  but I do want to keep below 190 or so. You'll do great! Larisa in Seattle

Ugh much stress and loss in the group right now. My heart goes out to everyone affected. I'll be sending good thoughts to you all, tonight. Yes, group hugs. Love from Seattle, Larisa

Oh no. I'll jump off of stuff, and get my skin inked, but I'm not having dental work without All The Drugs, and I'm not getting my fun time party bits pierced. We all have our weak points. Larisa in Seattle

I hear that! Tattoos aren't cheap. :) My big tattoo starts on my thigh and goes up to my hip bone. It took three, four hour sessions, and needs a couple hours of touch ups. Once I get my weight back down and my cash flow back up, I'm going to get it extended further onto my hip and maybe rear, maybe side (it's a phoenix…

Yes, Beth, root canals are no joke! :fearful: Larisa

That's gorgeous, Anne! I love the shading. And you're just about as pale as I am  Larisa in Seattle

Awwww. It was ridiculous. 1600 feet over a 350+ foot drop. Insane! We all said so. And then we did it. :D
-
ooooh, pics? Here's my little one, taken the day after I got it, so there's some weirdness on my skin (the brownish bits) Motio ergo sum; I move therefore I am...I copied Descartes's actual handwriting! I have a larger one you pretty much have to be in my swim class, to see. That was my original…

Skydiving, ziplining, ocean diving, tattoos, sex.... I'm suddenly feeling even more positive about being a middle-aged lady. You ladies are good for me. :D (THANKS!) Larisa in Seattle

I completely understand. I did that last year because I still couldn't walk, let alone hike, and was going stir crazy. I had taken up swimming and kayaking, but I hadn't been up in the mountains in soooo long, I recruited some friends and we all went zip lining. My mom asked me if I was insane. Umm, probably? But it…

Let's do it! I'll see you there. I just took up swimming a year ago though, so I'll probably get there at 60 or so. Larisa in Seattle

Yes! I want to skydive. I would like to get certified so I can go without being strapped to an instructor. And I really want to hang glide! I'd be up for base jumping, too. And I signed up for a diving class at the local pool, haha. I would say the closest I've been so far, was in small planes, and zip lining on this…
