“They” are wrong. I am proof. I am not special, you can do it too! Don’t make this harder on yourself than it needs to be. Just eat less and move more. That’s what I did. Lost my excess weight because I was beginning to show symptoms of obesity related diseases. I have reversed those and promised myself I will never go…

Congrats! Great pic! :)

That’s awesome, post as many pics as you like! Fantastic transformation! :)

Wow! Abs for days!!! B)

Wow you look great! Love that dress on you! :)

It took me 300 days to lose 43 lbs. That averages out to almost exactly a pound a week although it sure didn’t go that way IRL. Some weeks I lost nothing, some weeks I lost 1 lb, sometimes after a really long challenging hike I’d retain water for a few days, appear to weigh more, then get a “whoosh” and lose 2-4 lbs. The…

Thanks! I also run pavement and bike paths but my real passion is running up and down hills and mountains! Request sent :)

Age 45 here! Reached my goal weight a little over 6 years ago and have maintained ever since. For me, my 40’s have been the best years of my life because I am more fit and confident than I ever was when I was younger. I wouldn’t have dared to wear bikinis in my 20’s and 30’s but I love wearing them in my 40’s now that…

My kiddo has grown up and left the nest already but if I were in your situation I’d include my kids in my health routine... perhaps everyone go out for a walk, a hike, a day in the park. Have them keep a journal of the activities they are doing in this strange and future historical time we are living in. It’ll give them…

Actually running in shoes caused me pain and suffering! Tried barefoot out of desperation and it feels natural and normal to me, been running this way for 6 years with no issues. It’s so fun, I feel like a kid again! :)

Before... sedentary and obese at 209 lbs I was completely out of breath just going up one flight of stairs or walking half a block. Also feeling the aches and pains of obesity related diseases. After... lost 43 lbs and found my passion for trail running, now I can run up and down hills and mountains any time I feel like…

As a mixer or a chaser?

Congrats, sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work! :) I’ve been in maintenance over 6 years now. It took me 300 days to lose 43 lbs. That averages out to almost exactly a pound a week although it sure didn’t go that way IRL. Some weeks I lost nothing, some weeks I lost 1 lb, sometimes after a really long…

:'( They closed down this Wendy’s location that was so close to me! I’ll miss it dearly! But on another note... Wendy’s now has breakfast! The maple bacon chicken croissant and the seasoned potato wedges are my favorites, and their coffee is pretty good too! I like to go get it after I go for an early morning run even…

Hello to all you wonderful maintainers!!! Hope so far that 2020 is treating you kindly! As for myself, it’s time to get serious! I need to drop 4 or 5 pounds I’ve been holding on to since the beginning of winter :) the plan is to eat about 11,200 calories WEEKLY plus ALL exercise calories. No food is off limits but going…

I don’t know about my face or body looking “older, younger, better, worse” or anything like that because it’s all so subjective. I suppose I look older now because I actually am older now :D I’m just happy to be healthier than I used to be, looks come secondary to health in my book! I am sure of one thing though... since…

Interesting article but I don’t see anything so worrying that it would change the way I personally exercise. I always run fasted, anywhere from 3-10 miles 3-4 times a week for the simple reason that I don’t like the feeling of food sloshing around in my stomach while running. I usually run in the late morning or around…

I’m a runner so the algorithms probably pick up on my posts about running. Most of the advertisements I get are for running shoes, arch support insets and the like. What the technology fails to grasp is that I’m actually a barefoot runner! :D :D :D it’s hilarious because I have absolutely no intention of buying any of that…

Fantastic progress, congrats! I had a pair of “goal pants” and know the feeling when you finally fit into them comfortably, great job! :)

Cozy winter hat :)

I’m also a tiny bit disappointed that I don’t have any of the promised badges yet :p

MFP glitches :/

Fantastic transformation, congrats! I went through a similar situation from 95 to 75 kg and I’ve maintained it for 6 years now. I know it takes a lot of hard work and determination, you’ve done AMAZING! :)

I had a similar experience, I didn’t actually get stress fractures but I had horrible painful shin splints when I started running even though I had a “gait analysis” and got fitted “professionally” for running shoes. I tried everything everyone says to do but it wasn’t helping, I got extremely frustrated and started…

You’re welcome! Talking about freaking out, my resting heart rate is 44 and occasionally dips lower but that is my normal. When I needed to have a hospital procedure last year I had to mention it to all the docs and nurses because I kept setting off the heart rate monitor alarms :D I was a bit paranoid about them thinking…
-
No, resting heart rate should be taken when you are not moving around and have been truly at rest for a period of time. According to the American Heart Association: Resting heart rate is the number of times your heart beats per minute when it's at rest. The best time to find your resting heart rate is in the morning after…
