  • I have done all my morning chores and looked at the clock. It's only 9:30! I know I will hate it when it gets dark earlier.
  • Here is the rest of the story. These are the results from his 1:30 draw at his GP's office. Fasting now for 7.5 hours. Glucose: 77 Normal Total Cholesterol: 182 Normal Triglycerides: 104 Normal HDL Chol: 42 Normal VLDL Chol: 21 Normal LDL Chol: 119 A little bit high (0-99 being normal) These are totally different results…
  • I went to Vanity Fair Outlet and bought new Lee jeans. I went from a size 14 to a size 10, Relaxed Fit. They are still slightly loose on me. I, at age 61, never thought in a million years I would ever fit a 10! and I am 5'8" and 155 pounds, down from about 180 in June. Still pinching myself.

  • No updates, my next diabetes appointment is in February. Our insurance is changing from PPO to Consumer Directed Health Plan (means more money out of my pocket) so my diabetes care will be managed by my primary care physician and I will not be seeing my endocrinologist anymore. But, thankfully my sugars, pre and…
  • Holy Kittens! That is absolutely fantastic and motivating!!! Thanks for sharing.
  • I don't do Facebook because I have heard of horrible family and friend feuds. Feuds is too light a term, more like all out WARS. The time dedicated to it is just not worth it, and privacy is my main concern. What I do is my business. Posting on this discussion board is the only social media I am part of and I had to think…
  • http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/type-2-diabetes.25/ That is a link for a UK forum where they give advice about dealing with UK Clinic and doctor issues. Obtaining Glucose Strips and Meters is a frequent topic.
  • Is your doctor requiring you to go to a nutritionist for the glucose strip script? I would be demanding the prescription for scripts from him or or he would be fired. If you cannot get them by script, perhaps you can go down to Walmart and buy their Relyon Brand, they are pretty cheap. I am a type 2 diabetic and brought my…
  • I too, prefer lower glucose. Having thought about this for a while, I plan on having a Calcium Score and an LDL particle count done sometime next year. According to the Establishment, you can't win for losing, unless you take Statins. and.. that is not happening until I get more information once my weight settles down (13…
  • We have been hit with remnants, a few years ago there was flooding in Metro Atlanta, in our county, we had a person die by driving her car into a very flooded creek. She was on a curve leading to a small bridge and did not see the water until it was too late. Our house is pretty much safe. My best friends in Homestead were…
  • We invited my hubby's Floridian brother and sister and all their loved ones (including many pets) to weather out the hurricane in our house near Atlanta. They thanked us kindly, but are staying. They said the roads are too clogged and no gas available resulting in stranded cars. They live in central Florida, so if this…
  • While I don't use artificial sweeteners, those flavors sound lovely. Have you tried using extracts? They're not sweet, but they do have the flavor. Currently, I use vanilla extract and heavy whipping cream (it adds a hint of sweetness) to flavor my coffee. Thinking about this, I think I will purchase butterscotch extract…
  • Keeping you in my thoughts.
  • Maybe your dentist can smooth it down? We took a leap and bought a Prius in February and got a great deal since nobody seems to care about saving gas anymore. We kept our 2000 Chevy Truck and 2002 Honda Accord. The Prius is my hubby's car and the Honda is mine. The Truck, is well a truck, and used for camping and hauling…
  • Today is senior discount day at Kroger, so I will be shopping there for the stuff I can't buy at Costco. Mostly produce since the packages at Costco are way too large, can't fit nicely in my fridge, and spoil too rapidly if not eaten. My Costco list will include wild frozen cod fillets, wild shrimp, fresh baby spinach (to…
  • Not for my acid reflux. I recently started taking it in water, when I remember to.
  • I was on this medicine for many, many years. I went off it last year when I read how bad it was for you, regarding nutrition and digestion. I started taking it every other day for a while, then every third day, once a week and then off it completely. To be honest, my first month completely off of it was this side of hell.…
  • Last year he went on the treadmill and exercised his heart out before the Biometrics draw, Hard excercise increased his triglycerides to 216 for the 2015 Biometrics test. Last Spring, at his Endo's office, his triglycerides were 111 while on Statins. We have no idea what they are in a truly fasting state without the…

  • I blame the Slim Jims for this. We had a huge argument about this since he thought by eating Slim Jims it would reduce his glucose?!!!!! WTF? He thought it would lower his Sunrise Phenomenon, never mind that he did not think that it would hurt his lipids, since he has been concentrating on keeping his glucose lower for the…
  • Well, here are the results from the Company's Biometrics: Results Normals Glucose 106 (65-95) Great for Him!!!! Triglyceride- 223 (0-149) Horrible HDL 37 (>39) Slightly below normal VLDL 45 (5-40) Slightly above normal LDL 104 (0-99) Slightly above normal I hope they give him a redo, nowhere does the report mention that he…
  • I agree, until the Establishment changes their out of date concepts of what "healthy" is, we are discriminated against in buying life insurance, jobs requiring physicals, and this BS nonsense of forced company Biometrics Lab Tests which result in higher health insurance premiums. My husbands score is based solely on lab…
  • I do so love my 4 ounces of dry wine with dinner. Perhaps, I should rethink that. Very interesting discussion folks!
  • ICE!!!!!!!!!! ICE!!!! When you are hurt is is SOP to ice for a couple of days. You can damage yourself by applying heat too soon. If you end up sueing to pay for damages, it is strongly recommended that you leave no electronic footprints, any where...even this board. You can bet your sweet bippy that their lawyers will…
  • Ditto on the Babybel Cheese. Perfect portion control.
  • I had heard that diabetes was a problem in cats. Our cat, Grey Ghost, is 13 months old, 11 pounds, and is fed 1/2 wet and 1/2 dry. He is quite muscular and lean. Grey and the visiting dog are teasing each other on the deck and seem to be having a good ole time, and I am enjoying watching them. Grey is an outside cat and…
  • Yesterday, I received the "honor" of babysitting my son's Shizhu thru Sunday. This dog must weigh at least 50 pounds!! Are dogs generally reflective of their owners? My son is massively overweight and prediabetic in his mid thirty's. This dog is crazy and has decided that my entire house is his bathroom, no matter how…
  • We have lived out in the boonies for 18 years and not once have we had a trick or treater. So Halloween is not an issue. Thanksgiving, we go to Golden Corral and meet up with our son and his wife, and can choose what we eat there. The holidays, sadly, are not an issue for us since most of our loved ones have passed and our…
  • Januvia, the Janu part of Janumet, helps lower blood sugar in two ways. It helps the body increase insulin to stabilize blood sugar and decrease sugars that are made in the liver. Since it increased your insulin, your liver cells have become more insulin resistant from taking it. Now, it will take some time for the…
