  • What kind of long term loss goals does the 5:2 support? 0.5 lbs per week, 1 lb?
  • There was a summer that I was going to the gym every other day, the pounds were coming off and endorphins high. I was pretty happy then and wasn't suffering as much. However, the depression was still there under the surface. Some stuff happened, I gained the weight back, and then I became too self conscious/anxious to go…
  • Alcohol tends to dehydrate me and reduce water retention resulting in lasting weight loss. So it really depends.
  • Haha, sometimes I feel physically sick so yes it does tie into it. However I'm not sure if it's my guilt causing me to feel sick as I happen to feel physically sick for other reasons some times (anxiety, fear, etc). I think also when we're not used to eating overly processed foods anymore, it can wreck havoc on our systems.
  • Thank you... as some others have mentioned, I think I sometimes have a not so great relationship with food. When I was younger, around 12-13 I used to starve myself. I've learned from that and have never done it again, but my weight has definitely yo-yoed since then. Also my self-image issues are kind of terrible right…
  • I usually try to fit the cheat meals into my calorie goals. I'm currently on 1320 calories a day. I don't pay too much attention to macros other than getting enough protein and fiber in. So the guilt mostly comes from the fear of not being able to stop cheating I guess? I'm still relatively new at watching my food intake…
  • Haha, that makes sense! I try to go for much smaller portions when cheating now, I still feel bad but I'm going to try to break myself out of that. Wine is tough but so lovely ;)
  • Interesting article, I'll do some more research on this. :)
  • Hey, thanks! Are they critical because they kind of mess with your body a little bit or because they're good mentally?
  • Most definitely! I try to weigh myself in the morning after I've gone to the washroom. Some times I'll weigh myself after work, and find that it's 2 to 3 pounds more than earlier that day. Then the next morning, it's right back down.
  • I'm 5"7 and when I was 145 I was wearing a size 6 (US/Canada). Trying to get back down to 145 now, just a few more to go~ But it definitely depends on your height and body type.
  • I've yo-yoed with weight for a long time, and not going to lie, it's difficult to form habits that turn into life style changes. For me, small changes over time works the best. I use smaller plates (smaller portions), I consciously eat more protein and fiber, I measure out my food and plug foods into my diary. Some times I…
  • Face and chest lol, and where my collarbones are as they start to pop out. Stomach and thighs seem to be last, but I've noticed my pants getting looser in the waist and thigh areas.
  • Awesome post! I used to freak out because I get so bloated and gain 3 or 4 pounds during my period. Not to mention debilitating cramps and I want to eat everything under the sun. I just try to temper cravings with food swaps and eating at maintenance. Also ladies, raspberry leaf tea is great for cramps.
  • Everyday after I use the washroom in the morning. There are ups and downs, but it's a general downward pattern. I log it into MFP sporadically, but mostly when I've lost a significant amount.
  • I've basically focused on cutting my portions and raising my protein and fiber intake. I eat breakfast every day, and I try to get both protein and fiber in there -- that way I'm full until lunch. I stick to white meats such as chicken and turkey (turkey sausage is a godsend). Also fish such as tuna and salmon. I've cut…
  • It's funny, the article mentions that anecdotally, alcohol can trigger a whoosh. I had a couple of beers last Sunday, and in the following days I had lost 3 pounds after being stuck for a couple of weeks. Haha, I won't be increasing my alcohol intake though. Maybe it's because alcohol is a diuretic and the whooshes are due…
