The purpose of jumping jacks is to make me look a fool and feel miserable. Of this I am convinced. I jerk around like a puppet in a gale, out of time and co-ordination and yet they should be so simple. I would rather replace them with ANYTHING, so all those people suggesting not to do them are all right in my books

Hey, @Sued0nim, I can't wait for the day my arms look like that. They are fabulous!

600 cals is my main meal of the day! I have just had a Quorn "chicken" & Leek Pie with petit poise and sprouts for under that.

Chiros are quacks. The 6 weeks are the time for normal, untreated resolution of most issues. Of course, if you mend in that time you'll thank the Chiro...

Ha! It's that fat *kitten* I am trying to lose!

I do have short arms, long body. The old joke about not being able to reach the bottom of my pockets is almost true :)

Please comment! Anything that will help

Low - I hope!

Following with interest as this is where I get "bottomed out" to. Can't seem to break this. Do I need to sit back more? I feel like I might but struggle with fear of falling back.

A milky chai tea is lovely!

I struggle to kneel on my left knee because of the screw head from my ACL replacement. It pokes and jabs. I asked about getting it taken out and was advised against it. It can lead to more problems just poking around in that area apparently, so I just have to live with it and adjust. It has improved marginally over the…

Pyramid sets are great for starting out and progressively stretching yourself. Start with 2 lengths, then have a rest of 1-2 mins, then 4 lengths, rest, 6 lengths, rest etc until you reach your target then reverse the sequence. Gets you warmed up, gets distance in and breaks up the effort. You can tailor it to your…

All these lbs! My bar is a 20kg Olympic 7 ft bar, but I don't know the grip size. Seems OK so far, but I am 5'8" so not a petite lady! Smallest plate I have is 1.25kg, so about 2.5 lbs. Will definitely keep an eye open for smaller ones.

Thanks guys! I managed the 5x5 with 22.5kg but just wobbled in my mind thinking this is increased load one and already it feels heavy! Great to hear that isn't unusual. I will look forward to the next session and see how 25kg feels, but bear in mind I could just stick with 22.5kg. I seem to be ok at bench, and dead. Squats…

Just trying to make that decision today. Two job offers on the table, one where I could work from home, but it less pay than I used to have and is only contracted for 2 years, and one that would be right on the career path but is in a different country. Two kids and partner to move, and would mean partner giving up work…

Hey, ONEderland twin! I hit the same milestone today! Congratulations to you. Epic result and what a boost to the old motivation.

Salads are a battlefield in our house! My other half would eat them every night, I find them boring and unsatisfying without a good deal of goodies on.
-
Thanks @MiamiSeoul! It has been a good many years (about 17) since I was here last. Feels good :)
-
Whoop!! I reached ONEderland this morning! 64 pounds lost since end of February and about another 25 to go to my first goal weight.

Hanging thing is suspension straps (TRX style) tied back out the way. Good for stretching and body weight exercises (or for swinging on if you are my 4 year old!)

@lsutton484 - thanks! There is a lat pull down too, which I haven't built up yet, purely because we wanted start out simple. Must get round to it though, you are right. Good point o the second barbell. I can already see that switching in and out of the rack could become tiresome, so thanks for highlighting that. I am…

Yes, Rippetoe. I guess it is practice, practice, practice!

I have been videoing myself doing squats. I suck. I am trying to practice without a bar, and they aren't so bad then, but add the bar and it changes everything. Any squat advice is gratefully received! I have been reading Starting Strength and everything he says on squats I get - I just struggle to turn it into a movement…

Hi everyone! Thanks for the help and advice given. All set up right now and a few workouts down. Seems to be working ok for the moment, although a couple of tips from above to implement yet. Here are a few pics.

I do a mix of things, mostly based around the ocean and beach finds.

Oh yes! I use a tennis ball on my shoulder frequently and it just hits the spot magically. Yesterday I had to do 10 hours of driving and on the way home I was feeling it terribly in my torso and shoulders so looked around the car for help. 1 empty 500ml Coke bottle later and I was much better!

Every day. Your hair is dead, it cannot be nourished, moisturised or stripped of anything.

Possibly rotator cuff injury. I would suggest seeing a doctor just in case as those are a pain in the neck and take some healing - been there and didn't follow my own advice and now have a very redid posed shoulder to injury.

Take a Tom yam or noodle soup prepped, then just add boiling water. Ginger, cherry toms, mushrooms, shredded pak choi, spring onions, perhaps rice noodles. Add a teaspoon of paste or a sachet of miso soup and you are good to go. Layer it all in a lidded bowl and fill with boiling water when you are ready to eat. Leave for…

So in the US is Hallowe'en just a "dress up as whatever" thing then? Not spooky / scary for All Hallow's Eve?
