I've competed 3 times in the last 15 months. Squat 475 Bench 300 Dead 605

I hit 470/290/595 lbs in competition yesterday at 218 lbs body weight. Working towards a 1400 lb total next.
-
I gained 10 lbs in 1 day...yesterday...the day after my competition weigh-in where I water cut 13.5 lbs to make weight!
-
Use whatever works best for you to help you reach your goals. I've never used straps or gloves and have pulled up to 275 kg.
-
Go for it!!! I just did my 3rd meet yesterday and it was a long day, but fun to watch so many strong people lift!
-
APS Mesomorph works great. I don't drink coffee.
-
It went well! I went 8/9 for a 1,300 lb total(465/265/570). Good luck competing in USAPL! I'd love to compete at Raw Nats, but I'm not strong enough yet.

Anyone going to the RPS Connecticut State Championship this weekend? I'm going Saturday morning just to weigh in and then competing on Sunday.

My DOH non-hook grip PR is 405 for 1. I think I've only tried hook grip up to 315, but I don't train it consistently enough to condition my thumbs. Yesterday I pulled 530x4 mixed grip with chalk on a crappy smooth bar and had no grip issues. I must be "effed up" too since I never alternate hands. Left hand over, right hand…

I have tried to run 5/3/1 at least 4 different times using different templates and every time I feel like my strength has stalled on it too. I have made much more progress using a higher frequency, daily undulating periodization (DUP) style program. I'm currently in my 5th cycle of Layne Norton's PH3 Trainer, which is a…

Double overhand with that weight is even more impressive! At the end of your video, it looked like you were shaking your hand so I assumed that was because your thumb hurt from hook grip.
-
Congrats on your new PR! That's more than I can hook grip.
-
I hit some rep PRs on bench press and deadlifts today! https://instagram.com /p/BUSJFGMAg3p/

I meant it was light relative to other deadlift days in my program. Tomorrow I have an AMRAP set with 500 lbs and for the next month my working sets will be doubles with 530+ so 430 is the lightest weight I will pull until I deload again the week before RPS CT States.

I know what you mean about sumo feeling so foreign. It's so new to me, I don't even know where to start to improve my form. Next week I'll remember to bring my flat shoes so I can widen my stance and push out more. I couldn't do that today since my socks were slipping a bit. My hips felt more sore afterward than when I…
-
I gave sumo a shot today too since it was a light workout - 4 sets of 3 with 430 lbs, which is about 100 lbs less than my conventional 3RM. But then I had to add some heavy conventional singles afterward so I didn't feel like a traitor going over to the dark side!

Solid deadlift workout today: 3x3 and 1x5 at 88.5% of my max or 500lbs/227kgs, last set posted on IG. The weight is starting to get fun, 7 weeks until my meet.
-
I was just going to post today's squat video too since it was my first time using knee wraps. Too bad I already deleted the original to free up space on my phone after I uploaded it to IG! :s
-
Congrats on qualifying! I just signed up yesterday for CT States.
-
Thanks for your input. This will be my last meet of the year and the fee increase isn't that much so I might just do both and see how I place in Open.
-
Yes, it does cost more: 1 division = $105, 2 divisions = $142.
-
Question for the seasoned competitors - What are your thoughts about competing in multiple divisions, i.e. Masters and Open? Is the main benefit to win more awards? I'm going to sign up for my 2nd (1st full power) meet in June and was wondering if I should register for 2 age groups. If it matters, I don't think I would be…

I'm on my 5th round of Layne Norton's PH3 Trainer, which is 5 days a week. I made a few changes to the program found on bodybuilding.com, here's what I do: Sunday: squat, bench, deadlift Monday: OHP, upper body strength accessory work Tuesday: squat, bench, lower body strength accessory work Thursday: deadlift, upper body…

465x12. Yes, I know it's only touch and go. My first 2 sets were all dead stop reps. https://instagram.com/p/BSiy3HfAAXj/

It's at the Ramada Plaza in Newark, NJ on Sept 16-17.
-
That looks like it will be an interesting meet since RPS just announced today on Facebook the first ever RPS Women's World Championship will be the day before the Supreme Iron Warrior at the same location. Its too bad I don't have a qualifying total since I haven't competed in a full power meet yet.
-
I'm sorry your meet didn't go as planned, but congrats on the DL PR! I believe your total is still way over the qualifying requirement for the RPS Supreme Iron Warrior World Championships meet in September. Are you going to compete at the CT State Championship in June? A few guys at my gym already registered for it so they…

Good luck tomorrow TR0berts at the RPS New England Revolution!
-
45 minutes 5 days a week - 4 days for lifting, 1 day for cardio/conditioning.
-
I bet most people in my gym don't know what sumo or conventional are either. And if they do, you won't catch them lifting more than 2 plates!
