  • Thanks for all the great suggestions. I was away at a conference, but now that I'm back, I'm going to take a look at Jessica Smith on YouTube. I find that my Garmin Vivosmart nagging me is a great motivator so far. It's inspiring me to take the dog out more, just to get in some steps. I need to get into the habit of…
  • Bump! Lasagna cooking in the slow cooker right now. It's going to be a busy week, but I'll share some recipes when I get time.
  • Wow, look at all of those pets! I have five cats, a dog, a horse, two guinea pigs, and a bird here in my menagerie. I'll have to gather photos of everyone, but this is Hagrid, the newest addition to the family. His owner gave him up for adoption recently after an allergic family member moved in. He's 7 years old and full…
  • It's a tool like anything else. I love mine for making healthy smoothies at home, but they're no different than smoothies you'd buy or make with another piece of equipment. It can be a valuable tool as part of an overall healthy eating plan.
  • Hello everyone, I hope you don't mind if I hop in. I'm 51 and excited to find a group of those in the same age group with similar goals. I'm actually wishing desperately for menopause as I'm in the pre-phase where I'm awash with estrogen and totally off what used to be a like-clockwork schedule. This looks like a great…
  • This had me spitting my smoothie on the laptop screen. I wouldn't even attempt paleo, although I do have a cookbook of decent paleo crockpot recipes that are not nearly as soul sucking as the cookies. I got it because they were appealing in general, not because I have any paleo aspirations.
  • I've found that I need crunch, so I go for veggies and baby carrots with a very small amount of low fat ranch dip. Satisfies the urge to sink my teeth into something.
  • Leslie! I love her! I actually have some of her DVDs buried somewhere. I need to dig those out and clean up some space in my office. I'm so glad you mentioned her. I forgot I had those because they got shuffled away after we recently moved.
  • I'd look below the face and kick it square in the nads with a steel toed shoe. Thankfully the right shoes and exercises are getting me almost over it so I can start C25K training again. Going to a running store and getting my gait analyzed was the best thing ever.
  • I also have a Garmin Vivosmart HR and have it linked to MFP. The accounts could be hacked, the device could be hacked, pretty much anything can be hacked these days, even the computer systems in your car. I don't really worry about it. I just take as many precautions as I can. If someone wants to see what a lard butt I am,…
  • One good thing about virtual races is that they're typically tied to specific charities, so your money does go toward a good cause. The vast majority of them seem to be linked to causes like autism, cancer, etc. I suspect it's an easy way for charities to make money, i.e. link up with the virtual race company, lend their…
  • Wow, I thought these would be more popular here. My first one was the Christmas Story virtual run because I was motivated by the Leg Lamp medal. I'm going to sign up for some and try to get them in before it gets too hot here in FL. I have an almost perfect 5K path near my home where I can do them. I'll report in how it…
  • I just got a Garmin Vivosmart HR that bugs me every hour if I haven't been moving around. Then it has a band that grows with increased inactivity so I have to walk a certain amount to make it go away. While that doesn't cover the major exercise, I feel like even that little bit of extra movement is good motivation.
  • Thank you for the kind words! I'd really really love to do one of the 5Ks or 10Ks at WDW someday. I dabbled in running in my last successful major weight loss attempt. I have a foot problem now but it's improving so I hope to get bak to it. Good luck to you on your journey! Hopefully you'll get to see the new Star Wars and…
