  • I had major PF issues and now all I wear is Oofos, even for my exercise walks. They've made a world of difference.
  • I'm in the same boat here at 52. It's not really old; I like to think I'm experienced. You're on the right track here. I work long hours and am a walker too. It's great that you're getting that in, and you might want to think about working in some toning to help firm up that dough. You're definitely in the right place for…
  • Bugs are one of the problems here too, although I do have one nice, shady 5K trail that I can hit during the day without too many flying pests. The humidity is the worst of it, and the bugs are downright vicious at night, so I'm hoping to get in the habit of getting out before work most mornings.
  • Definitely sounds like PF although it's wise to check with your doctor. Rolling your foot on a frozen bottle helps, but in addition to that and PF exercises was Oofos sandals. Expensive but life changing in terms of preventing the pain.
  • I'm a night owl but recently I've been waking up early to get in a walk and I'm really enjoying the change. I live in a hot climate so it will serve me well in the summer if I can maintain the habit because of the cool morning temps. Shouldn't be hard as the dog loves the early walks and usually acts as my alarm clock now.
  • I recommend the on demand subscription so you can try them all. I think it was $99 for the year, but that's for access to every BB program.
  • Garmin has some excellent models, depending on what you want. I have a Vivosmart with GPS that tracks heart rate, sleep, workouts, steps, reminds me to move, lets me know when I have a text... Just about everything but cook my dinner.
  • Sounds pretty painless. Thanks for the info!
  • It turns out I didn't do it after all because our fridge water line broke Friday night so we were up until after 3 am cleanimg the flood. Thank goodness we were home, but it ran for a while because we were upstairs and didn't even k ow the downstairs was flooding. There was no way I could be up at 6 am. I was tied up all…
  • Tomorrow is the big day. Hopefully I'll soon be posting a NSV.
  • Thanks so much for all the advice! My training walk times have ranged from an 18 to 16:30 pace (18 was walking in a crowded, people-heavy area). I'll probably do some jogging if I have the stamina. A lot of people walk the half in my town and come in at between 3 and 4 hours, but it starts at the same time as the marathon,…
  • I'm definitely packing some moleskin and extra water. The weather should be cool (FL) so I'm just hoping the rain stays away.
  • Isn't a flexible schedule wonderful? I had one for many years while freelancing until I moved to this structured job. I do still have some flexibility, but most of the time it's very meeting-driven. I try to make an effort to get up and move between meetings, even if I only have a few minutes. My Garmin loves to nag/remind…
  • I'm loving all the Hint flavors that I've tried so far. It does have an aftertaste as some have mentioned, but it's not something that bothers me too much. I cut it with water so I get two or three jumbo glasses of water from each bottle to keep the cost down. It's going to be my go-to now instead of flavoring my water…
  • I'm good about getting out to walk after work most days. I do virtual races and am in a 200 miles in 200 days challenge that I've nearly completed, even though it's only halfway through, so I'm going for 400. I'm going to hang the medals in my office to act as inspiration. I'll check that Pomodoro Technique for sure. I've…
  • I have a Jack/Rat terrier mix who never gets tired of "walkies." He's a great little companion, other than wanting to stop and sniff the latest dog mail messages on all the lamp posts.
  • Oooo, lemon cayenne sounds good! I'm reducing the cost by splitting each bottle with half regular water,
  • Imhabe a Garmi Vivosmart HR and love it. It does just about everything possible, although I don't use the GPS as much as I thought I would.
  • I love Beach Body on Demand too. I was looking at a couple off their programs anyway so I went for all access. Right now I'm doing the yoga stretch routines and plan to dabble in the 10 minute workouts and try Chalene Extreme and the country music program. I run it on tv via Roku and on my iPad. I have a ton of workout…
  • In addition to local groups, you might want to look into virtual walks/runs. I'm in a 200 mile challenge right now with an excellent FB group for daily support.
  • I searched on Amazon out of curiosity after reading this thread, and there's actually a chakra meditation that's free with Amazon Prime. I listened to it the other night; not sure if it cleaned up my chakras, but I learned that they're different colors.
  • I just signed up for Beachbody on Demand All Access, which includes all of their programs, but it's $99 for the year. Just search YouTube and the app stores for lots of free options.
  • I,font use my Wii fitness games anymore, but I do walking with Pokemon Go every day.
  • I was a big fan of Wii Fit and also loved Walk It Out (where you build an island while walking with the hand sensors). Now I used Pokemon Go as my motivator.
  • Same with me on sugar and artificial sweeteners. I hate the taste of artificial stuff and prefer to spend my calories on other things. Watermelon was what I got at the store, and my online order is for a variety pack. I'll likely cut it with regular to make it go farther and cut the cost.
  • I'm waiting for my online order and found it in a local store in the meantime, so I bought a couple of bottles. Good stuff! The flavor is almost like an aftertaste. I appreciate the feedback.
  • I know how hopeless plantar can feel. The main thing that helped me was switching to Oofos sandals. I live in FL and was wearing flip flops with no supper, which made the problem much worse. The sandals, combined with exercises (I bought a plastic exerciser to help me) and compression socks overnight eventually brought…
  • I love Leslie's workouts. I use to do them when I lived in a cold climate a few years back.
  • Definitely Leslie. I used her DVDs years ago when I lived in a cold climate.
  • Note about buying from Dicks: check retailmenot for in store coupons before buying. Saved a bundle on my Garmin Vivosmart HR that way (and I love the Garmin although I don't use the GPS as much as I thought I would).
