Nope, don't take any. I was taking fish oil for a while but my doctor told me to stop because it can affect cholesterol numbers and mine are optimal now. So nothing for me :)

Thanks!

Thanks, that does make sense :)

I wonder about the whole genetics component. I realize genetics is a legitimate issue for many people (my husband deals with this and his cholesterol), but in my own experience I was told by my (former) doctor that I was genetically predisposed for type 2 diabetes. On my mother's side my great-grandfather, both…

I got my mom a hanging flower basket. My kids (ie husband ) gave me the gift of a new patio and then a day off of cooking. Since my husband can't boil water we ate out every meal lol.

My stomach is also flat. I don't eat green apples. Or drink green tea or Yerba mate. Or consume ginger or turmeric. I win. :D Seriously though, if someone has a legitimate food allergy then of course they shouldn't eat those foods (bloating would be the least of their worries in that case). Sodium causes temporary water…

oh good grief. No.

It has more to do with your shape. I'm pear shaped and I lost my stomach oomph pretty early on in my weight loss phase. I had to get around 10lbs below my original goal weight though, before my thighs/bum got the memo :p OP, there's no special diet/foods to eat, to spot reduce certain areas. Everything will get smaller as…

Last time I had mine measured was in October (by a lab tech, as part of our health insurance requirements), and at my belly button it was 25 inches. I don't know if the belly button is where others are measuring at though?

Didn't track and I'm not even sorry :D Taco Bell Grand Scrambler for breakfast, steaks on the grill for lunch with a huge salad, cheesy bread, green bean casserole, sweet potato fries and then caramel pudding cake for dessert. And then Checkers burgers and fries for supper, which we brought to a park :)

Actually, brushing your teeth right after drinking soda is bad (or after consuming other acidic foods)- http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/21/really-never-brush-your-teeth-immediately-after-a-meal/?_r=0

Using a zero calorie tea to replace calorie dense juices are a great way to reduce your calorie intake :)
-
Seriously? If someone drank a hundred gallons of water (the main ingredient of diet soda), then they'd be DEAD. Do you not have any common sense? Sheesh.
-
Thanks, you too!
-
This. You can eat/drink whatever, but you have to make it fit into your calorie allotment.
-
First of all- LOTS of water has nothing to do with weight loss, eating at the correct calorie deficit for you goals does. Secondly-the first ingredient of diet soda is... Water. And thirdly-everything we ingest is made up from chemicals. OP, welcome to MFP-your first post hit on one of the more controversial subjects here…

I'd really doubt that, unless you're dealing with people who are dealing with EDs.

Yup, it makes absolutely no sense to throw out extreme scenarios. I don't worry about my sugar intake, nor do I track it. I already have a system of checks and balances in place because I have calorie parameters that I stay within. In no scenario would I ever find myself eating the equivalent of sugar grams from the apple…

Yay, glad to see another participant in the NWCR :#

I seriously doubt that. 20 medium McIntosh apples have around 320 grams of sugar. I could eat an entire box of Twinkies and still only consume 160 grams of sugar. 10 packages of M&Ms has less sugar than the apples. It would actually be pretty difficult to match the apple example in terms of sugar. Unless I ate 10 slices of…

This is one of the reasons I deleted my FB account. I was so flipping tired of the beach body coaches pushing their crap, even when it was pretty obvious that they weren't being successful themselves. And then there was the other ones posting about their latest fad diets, which always ended up failing and then they'd whine…

I didn't take measurements, but I did go from a size 14 jean, down to a current size 4 :)
-
Pretty much this.
-
I lost over 50lbs and improved every health marker, including stabilizing a high glucose number, all while drinking diet soda ;)
-
Because fish oil can affect cholesterol numbers, and since mine are so good now she didn't want them being messed with. My triglycerides at a 49 etc.

I've read quite a few books about food, dieting and nutrition and according to my Goodreads account I've only given one of those a 5 star rating-Diet Cults: The Surprising Fallacy at the Core of Nutrition Fads and a Guide to Healthy Eating for the Rest of US, by Matt Fitzgerald. Rethinking Thin, by Gina Kolata is a close…

This. 3 years into maintenance and I don't take any supplements. I was taking fish oil but my doctor told me to stop, so I quit that a year ago.
-
At 5'2" and 123lbs, you'd have a bmi of 22.5 :)
-
I'm also 5'6" and my original goal weight was also 135lbs. After I hit that though I wasn't happy with where I was at so I kept losing and got down to around 117 lbs (low end of healthy bmi range ). Reevaluated and purposely regained a few pounds and now I hang out in the 127-130 range. Op, there's nothing wrong with…

You don't have to make drastic changes to your current diet or cut out any of the foods you're eating. That sounds like what you've been trying to do, with no success. Instead, continue eating the foods you like, but be mindful of portion sizes (food scale set to grams), accurately track your food intake, and then stay…
