  • You can do this. I'm not quite as obese as you (I peaked at 300 lbs and 172 cm) but even at that weight and with a bum ankle that's largely made of titanium pins and plates I was regularly walking 8-10 miles a day and could do 18-20 miles on a Saturday or Sunday without much trouble. A few weeks ago when I was only down to…
  • Those are all fair points. And I'm willing to accept it means different things to different people. But I feel like we need better words then. Because when I "binge" it is pathological and terrifying. So to hear someone else describe overeating as "binging" as though it were a charming quirk kind of sets my teeth on edge.
  • I'm really not trying to be a jerk but I'm not sure a lot folks around her understand what a binge really means. When I'm seriously in the depths of depression I can put down 15K+ calories in a day easily. Multiple pizzas, multiple bags of chips & cookies, 100 oz of soda and so on. Until you've taken measures to make it…
  • How all have you tried eating beans? There are tons of ways to sneak them into your diet besides just rice & beans. You can make veggie burgers out of them, "meat" balls and loafs, soups, I've been known to take an immersion blender and a can of beans to batches of pasta sauce as both a thickener and nutritional booster or…
  • I was vegan for a long time & used plain, unsweetened almond milk in my cereal, for cooking and just to drink. When I went back on animal products I tried switching to back to cow juice because it's more nutritionally dense, I ain't scared of fat and it's cheaper. But I found it was waaaaay too sweet for me after getting…

  • Nuts are one of my favorite between meal snacks. A handful of nuts keeps me satisfied for hours.
  • Born & raised in Ashtabula. But I've been in Columbus for close to 20 years now.
  • Me too. Risperdal was life changing for me in a lot of ways. So I just accepted the weight gain. But I started showing early warning signs for diabetes so my doctor and I decided to try me on Latuda. The first couple months were rough. I ended up hypomanic and the doc just kept upping the dose until I was on enough to to…
  • I don't have any advice for you. Just checking in to say I feel the pain of weight loss on an atypical antipsychotic. I ballooned up big time when I started on Risperdal and have been fighting to take it off ever since. Luckily I'm off that and on Latuda instead which seems to be making it easier.
  • I've been a veggie of some stripe or another off and on for the past twenty years. And I've tried low carb dieting off and on a few times, too. Personally? I feel my best when I'm eating a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, nuts and whole grains with modest amounts of dairy and meat. It doesn't make me drop weight super…
  • Yep. I have a Fitbit Surge. I have mine set to all day sync so periodically my Fitbit syncs with my phone and updates MFP automatically. No fuss no muss.
