Started at 230 in March, 197 now, goal 145 - to start. As an adult under 32 I happily maintained between 115-125 but I don't think I will be able to happily maintain that weight in my 40s.

I hear you. Gotta love the PNW.

I am on 1200 a day and I would argue that at as its the lowest acceptable healthy calorie intake it is imperative to eat back at least half of your exercise calories.

I think it is just as much to make the big sizes seem not so big. I moved to the US from Australia and started to put on weight soon after (not related to the move or food here). It was far more acceptable in my head because I was still a size 8. But in reality much larger.

Re talking about teens as size 0. The OP asked if everybody could be a size 0. My answer about my 11 year old likely never being a size 0 in adulthood was in response to this question. No. Everybody cannot be a size 0. Frame and height etc needs to be taken into account. No shaming size 0's here. I was very comfortable and…

My 5'4 visually slim 11 year old is a size 0 now. She would have to stop growing and developing right now to stay size 0. Don't worry so much about what dress size you end up OP. Create a small deficit and get into a healthy weight range and do some strength training. My bet is you will then be happy with your body no…

So he hasn't been diligent with logging.

A guy eating 1200-1300 cals equals a huge deficit. I can't imagine logging errors could close that kind of gap? If it's been a few weeks and you have been truly been diligent with your logging then you may need to visit the doctor.

My body does this as well. One week I drop 3-4 pounds, then it goes up then levels by the end of the week. I just figured it is due to ovulation, TOM, etc and it doesn't bother me. Definitely not something to lose track over. If you are losing very slowly over all then perhaps tighten up your logging and check that you…

You need to eat back at least a portion of those exercise calories so that you net around 1200.

Soft cheese and salami. Gimme!!

I wasn't trying to argue - just offer my perspective. I feel that I have just as much right to comment and be here as anyone else even if my experience is not the same as yours. Of course I am under the guidance of my dr. This is a very tough and maybe even life saving journey for many people here beyond losing a few…

I am on 1200 a day and must admit I felt judged when reading a few of the earlier comments. I understand, Sexy Stef, that you are trying to help but please note that not everyone is 130 pounds and trying to lost the last 10. Some people need to drop some pounds fast for health reasons and 1200 net is widely accepted as the…

In terms of controlling hunger, I do fine on 1200 as long as I get lots of protein and fat. I try to limit my carbs to 100-120 grams so I have enough to spend on the other two.

The only positive thing about being overweight was actually having some. Of course, they were the first to go.

Log everything. Stay active. Eat at sedentary maintenance but don't eat back your exercise/ activity calories. On a recent camping trip I ate a light breakfast and lunch then had a great dinner, a smore, wine.. It's life. Enjoy then jump back on your deficit as soon as you get home.
-
Weigh and measure your food. Log. Make sure you are in a calorie deficit.
-
Up the fats in your diet.
-
Yes you need to create a calorie deficit but the key is to do it in a way that's sustainable FOR YOU. Re being a foodie - I love to cook so have embraced the challenge of creating creative dinners with plenty of volume at under 500. This has helped keep the weight loss experience positive for me as I don't feel deprived.
-
The first 90 lb lost you didn't need the scale. Now you do.[/quote] This.
-
Weighing, measuring, logging, and meal planning so that you can make sure you get the nutrients you need and enough volume to sustain you for four weeks.
-
My goal is to have a healthy BMI and be strong. 20+ pounds down, 50+ to go.

I just got back from 16 days in Italy. Walked everywhere! Came back 13 pounds heavier but the water weight is dropping off fast. I still expect to be up 3-4 pounds though. Worth it. Back to work.

This happened to me when traveling. It was a time zone thing.
-
I guess I don't understand the point of your post then.
-
I am on 1200 calories. Why are you asking? Are you thinking of dropping down to 1200 too?
-
Yes! Mine stalls after also.
-
My salty food and wine on the weekend added a couple pounds. I am finally back to my Friday weight today.

Whistler!

Not a friend. A friend would tell you that you are getting a front butt BEFORE you started losing weight. Not after the fact.
