Honestly? Just plan to enjoy your vacation. There are so many food options available that you'll be able to make lower calorie choices if you wish. And if you don't wish to do that? Don't chastise yourself. Just get back on track when you return. And you'll have some great memories. I hope you have the most amazing trip!

I don't know what the egg diet is but it reminds me of the "cabbage soup diet" in the early 80's that my aunt and cousins did. That was a very low calorie diet consisting of bowls of cabbage soup which caused them to cut 5 or so pounds of water weight in a week which came right back the next week after the soup was sent…

There were overweight people in the 70's but it wasn't the norm, especially for kids and young adults. The degree of obesity also seems to have increased. Me and another girl were the "fat kids" in our class. We'd be average sized kids today. People ate junk and processed foods then, too. Most of the kids I went to school…

If you get the 404 error, look at the URL. If you see a bunch of numbers instead of a username (example: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/profile/1008304529) you can replace those numbers with the member's name you are trying to look up and then hit enter. It's a workaround. Maybe they'll fix it at some point.

You won't gain weight from one tortilla. If it fits in your calorie goals for the day, a flour tortilla is fine for weight loss. If you are limiting carbs, there are still tortillas which might work for you. I'm a type 2 diabetic and routinely eat La Banderita's Carb Counter tortillas and Mission's Carb Balance tortillas.

At one time in my life I would have restricted food and exercised until I felt I "burned" all of the calories off, even if this took several hours or all day. At another time I would have purged. Those were bad times. Don't get obsessed with weight loss to the point that you start punishing yourself. I never thought I'd…

If this were me, and I were consistently experiencing a stomachache after eating, I'd see a doctor for advice just to be on the safe side. I wish you the best and I hope this gets better for you!

I wish popcorn had no calories. I could eat a vat of it. The air popped kind with real butter, though, not microwave. But air popped popcorn is 30 calories per cup, if you don't use butter or oil, so it's not a terrible amount if you measure it out. And there are lots of different shakers and spices you can use instead of…

Yes, absolutely. I had an eating disorder from about age 27 to 37. My ED eventually progressed to bulimia but it originally started as food restriction and obsessive exercising and a lot of it revolved around the number on the scale. If it was up a bit or even just stayed the same for a few days, I'd cut back a little more…

I hate running. Both of my parents ran and they were in great shape so I figured I'd give it a shot back in my 20's. I hated it. I hated the pounding. I hated how it made my knees feel. I did a few races and liked the race atmosphere but hated the actual running part. So I stopped and bought myself a new bike. Because I…

That's a fun idea! If I were going to make challenges for myself, I think I'd pick things that I know I can fit into each day without stressing me out like:* Take 10 minutes out of the day to meditate * Do 20 squats or other body weight exercises of your choice * Write down three positive thoughts from your day * Take a…

Unfortunately no one who has actually had the sleeve or bypass has responded so you could hear first-hand experience. Maybe someone still will. A former patient may speak during your seminar but it's likely it's going to skew heavily on the positives. They should still talk about complications and other considerations at…

I love food so I do live to eat and I'm not going to change that. I already ate pretty healthy but my problem was I ate way, way, wayyyyyy too much. For me to eat better I had to start being conscious of portion sizes and how they fit into my calorie goals for the day. If I want to have a heaping plate of chopped up…

Summer is my favorite time to make chili because the vegetables will come right out of my garden and into the pot. My fresh corn gives it an extra zing of flavor. Watching my corn grow every summer is a treat. It's just fun to see it grow from such a tiny shoot to be taller than myself. I also like to roast the corn in the…

@Lightfoot_R We picked these up the last time we needed wraps. They are definitely good. Thanks again for the recommendation!

You got this! I was prediabetic last year, didn't do anything, and got my T2D diagnosis this March. MFP definitely helped a lot with tracking calories and carbs, especially in the beginning. I wish you the best!

If I ate a chicken breast every day for dinner for 20 days and got bored with it, it doesn't mean I'm not that hungry, it means I'm sick of chicken. It's actually a situation in which I could find myself ready to gain some weight because if I don't find something tasty to replace it, I might binge until I'm satisfied. My…

I have this for breakfast several times a week - 2 oz smoked salmon, 2 hard-boiled eggs and a large plate of chopped radishes, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Sometimes instead of the hard-boiled eggs I'll have the salmon on a keto bagel with cream cheese and capers.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's good to have you here now!

Yes, absolutely. Obesity is obviously a serious risk factor but it is a stereotype that all type 2 diabetics are overweight. Other risk factors and genetics play roles. I was in the "just prediabetic" boat last year and did not take it seriously. This year I'm cruising on the SS Diabetes. It's OK, I was able to get it…

If I recall correctly, you wanted to lose weight because you have a basketball belly. CKD can cause edema in the abdomen, legs, and feet. Has your doctor ruled out abdominal edema from CKD in your case? You can obviously do as you like but if this were me, or one of my family members, I'd want to speak with a renal…

I wish you the best! I think the surgery really was life-changing for him, due to the amount of weight he had to lose. At the time I was terrified of complications but I think if he hadn't had it done, it would have only been a matter of time until his health really went downhill.

My husband had the sleeve five years ago and I have several friends who have had a sleeve or bypass. The sleeve was successful for my husband. As part of the bariatric program, he had to start exercising and change his eating habits prior to the surgery. Part of this was to lose weight and shrink the liver to reduce the…

Aqua aerobics, if they're offered near you, are easy on the joints. The water provides natural resistance and you can do your own pace.

Welcome @wretchedassghoul and @Dtrifunovic65! I was bulimic for about ten years. My ED started with food restriction and obsessive exercising and then progressed to bulimia. I don't know that it's accurate to call me "recovered," as I never went through any treatment but there did come a point where it was physically too…

Welcome Ken! I'm also T2D. I don't use insulin but I do find MFP to be really useful for counting carbs. I wish you the best!

Welcome! I'm T2D, as well!

I'm also 49 and I could easily out-eat any exercise I do. I recently lost 41 pounds, which was easy so long as I was accurately tracking and logging my food to keep within my calorie goals. Speaking for myself, it's very easy for me to overeat, not even really meaning to, just by having a little bit extra here and there or…

When my husband had VSG, everyone in his bariatric program had to lose weight prior to surgery, whether they were having the sleeve or the bypass, and it was mainly to make the surgery safer. Part of the program included nutritional counseling and they provided the pre-surgery diet they wanted patients to follow. It was…
