  • You are losing! And you're losing at a very healthy rate. Reset your expectations.
  • So much good advice here. I plan meals based on what is on sale, batch cook a lot, and also plan meals based on what fresh produce is in my fridge so nothing goes to waste. I cook all meals from scratch.
  • The less you have to lose, the longer it takes to lose. The other posters are right. Just make sure you're tight on logging and keep with it. You'll start to see results if you are eating at a deficit.
  • I often buy only the meat that is on sale (chicken or pork usually) and cook it up in a crock pot. We'll eat on that for days, mixing it up with different sides. One day with a baked potato and a veggie. The next day on a green salad. Make quesadillas another day. Pull it and put in bbq sauce on a bun. So on and so forth.
  • I love to talk about recipes and what I'm eating ony feed. Add me!
  • If your goal is to lose weight, then you have to eat fewer calories than you burn. It sounds like you are motivated to exercise, and that is awesome! You are doing great things for your heart and lungs and body. But losing weight is all about the math.
  • It's a lot of caffeine for people who don't drink a lot of coffee -- your "sensory awareness" should be awesome! I think 5 cups of coffee would be better than taking a pill.

  • Make sure you are eating enough calories. Make sure you are getting the nutrition you need and getting all your macros in ( protein, carbs, fat). And lastly, caffeine...a withdrawal symptom is headache.
  • I have to second.anything by Michael Polland. You can watch his lectures on YouTube and his documentary series called Cooked on Netflix. Very inspiring!

  • That's a pretty big dose of caffeine (435mg a day is like 5 cups of coffee). Stop wasting your money.

  • It shouldn't be torture! I couldn't live without carbs. I'm eating pretty much everything I want to eat and just watching CICO. Switch it up and find out what combination of macros keep you satiated.
  • Losing 14 pounds is a fantastic result! We all lose weight in different places first, so how it "shows" will always vary. In addition to the scale, take body measurements to compare. In the meantime, if you don't think you are "seeing" results, think about where that 14 pounds came from -- that is 14 pounds no longer…
  • Something for you both to watch is Cooked by Michael Pollan on Netflix. I highly recommend Episode 2: Water. It talks about industrial cooking, how it is so different from home cooking, and how the industry tries to engineer your cravings so they make more money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4StYSEaXzA
  • The short answer is that you can't convince her. That has to come from inside herself. In the meantime, you tell her how much you love her and think she is beautiful every single day. I wonder if you can convince her to eat your cooking once a week...or twice a week?
  • I just plugged in your stats into http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html And it says 1657 calories is maintainance for you. To lose a lound a week, you need to eat 1157 a day -- so to maintain nutrition that would be 1200 calories a day and lose a little under a pound or make up the difference with exercise. I…
  • For fast food, I like McDonald's egg mcmuffin with no cheese for 250 calories. Add a hash brown for another 150. Chicfila has grilled chicken nuggets for something like 140 calories. Otherwise the kids meal size at any place will give you a nice taste without going calorie crazy, usually. Applebees has a healthy section…
  • My family's schedule is all over the place. My meal planning is based on what is on sale at the market when I shop. I tend to cook meats, rice, pasta in big batches and refrigerated that can be warmed up and put with frozen veggies on the fly for anyone who needs lunch at school/work or needs something before they are…
  • ^^^THIS^^^ You have to eat in a way you want to eat FOREVER if you want to maintain your weight loss. Seriously.
  • Sorry you had a crappy day, but I think it's great that at you got on here for support. You're going to have to distract yourself. Take a walk. Clean or vacuum. (I usually search for recipes.) And stop that negative talk...you would never talk.to a friend like that, so don't talk to yourself like that either.
  • Slow and steady is the way. Losing weight is a not a race, it is a lifestyle that you will have to follow in some ways the rest of your life. You have to decide you want it. Then, you have to find a balance. I recommend setting your calories to losing only a half pound or one pound a week, no more. Yes, it's "slower" but…
  • Depression can often reduce appetite. As long as you are eating 1200 calories and gettimg adequate nutrition, you shouldn't feel like you have to eat all the calories.
  • Congratulations on your loss! Since you're just feeling bloated for the last week, I'm going to guess it's TOM. A recent meal with high sodium can do it, too. Sometimes it's just an off week. In the meantime, just keep doing what you're doing with staying with your calorie deficit and exercising! Those things have been…
  • And this is the situation every one of is in when we eat out at any restaurant without published nutrition. My guess: 750. Then I would add 50-100 calories because I know it is just a guess. (It looks fantastic btw. Enjoy!)
  • Wow. Your doctor sure threw a lot at you without a plan. But being prediabetic is a big deal. A registered dietician is a great idea. In the meantime, it sounds like you need get fiber back in your diet (fiber is good for your heart and digestive system.) This article is a little hard on the Atkins diet sell, but it's got…
  • Ignore the scale. Too many variables to determine the why. Continue to log and eat at a deficit. Weigh yourself again in a week or two.
  • - Whatever you make for supper, make an extra serving to warm up at lunch the next day. - Bagged salad is easy and healthy. Add cherry tomatoes, sliced almonds, and vinaigrette for a low cal lunch. - Bake a potato in your microwave at work. Fresh and fast. Goes with anything. - Grill or poach extra chicken and use for lots…

  • That's a good plan, OP. If your appetite doesn't let you eat at least 1200 calories, a visit to your doctor is definitely a good idea. Best of luck to you.
  • Unexpectedly ate out for lunch...and did it on only 400 calories. I can highly recommend Fuzzy's Taco Shop's Tortilla Soup and their grilled shrimp taco. Yum!
  • Congratulations!
  • A therapist would be able to help you figure out why you are doing what you are doing and your relationship with your mom. I am really sorry you are hurting. "Motivation" is like "inspiration" for artists -- not always there. You have to make it a habit. You do whatever it is by just bucking up and doing it because you…
