  • Yesterday, I read about the "Whoosh" effect. There is more science to it, but basically what it boils down to is that your fat cells are replacing the burned fat with water, so even though you're burning calories and losing fat, the scale may not reflect it because of water retention. Then all of a sudden, the fat cells…
  • I don't eat any rice or pasta at all. My favorite meal (and super easy to make) is to cut up chicken breast into bite size chunks, cook up together with broccoli and mushrooms in a light coating of alfredo sauce.
  • I lost about this much during one summer month in high school. Went from 145 -115lbs over the summer before my Senior year. But weight loss became my obsession that year. I barely ate anything, and was falsely under the impression that "fat was bad", so I wasn't even eating the best things when I did eat. I also had a…
  • I was giving an example, and how a diet change helped me. The other symptoms, and the fact that it happens all the time was implied.
  • Same here! I have never worn a pair of boots in my life, even when I was skinny :(
  • I have the opposite problem. My scale seems to "remember" my last weight and read that back to me even after an obvious change (like drinking a litre of water). Never buying a weight watchers scale again.
  • I am on Levlen, and have been for years. Never had any weight gain, or loss from it. No increases or decreases to appetite either. Everyone reacts to hormonal BC differently though, which is why you are getting such conflicting results. Basically, you won't know until you try. But if it's making you gain weight or having…
  • My face and belly tend to lose first. Thighs are absolute last. I had huge meaty thighs even when I was 115 lbs.
  • I've not been diagnosed either, but I can eat HUGE meals if I let myself. I also don't seem to ever get the "fullness" trigger like a normal person, or at least not as quickly. The only thing that has ever helped me is going very strict low carb. It's much, much more difficult to eat 1000 calories of protein and fat than a…
  • 5'4" , 33 years old. Attempting to lose around 70-75 lbs. My "goal" is 1200 calories, but I rarely eat that much. Usually hover around 1000 or so. I don't log exercise or even count them as "extra calories" to eat. Losing around 10 lbs/month.
  • I had my best weight loss success ever eating whatever I wanted on alternate days, and then nothing in between. That was during a time in my life when I was working at a restaurant though, so it was made easier by just not keeping food in the house. I find I lack the willpower now. I still only eat one big meal a day…
  • My scale tends to do this, I don't know why. It's super annoying though. Like I will weigh myself, drink a 700 ml bottle of water (700g) and weigh myself again and it won't change. And it's digital to the 0.1 lbs so it should! Try weighing yourself with something heavy, to force it to change, then try again. I mean, it…
  • I am 5'4" and at 145, I wore an 8. I tend to carry my weight mostly in my thighs and upper torso, though.
  • I actually plan my meals on MFP before cooking. It lets me know exactly how many calories I am going to be eating, and I can adjust my ingredients accordingly. Especially if it's early in the day and I don't want to accidentally use up my entire calorie quota. Another trick I use is to drink a ton of water *during* my…
  • I try to trick myself into enjoying the hunger pains. It means my body is on the verge of switching to burning my fat, after all :) Besides that, I eat most of my calories in fats and proteins, so most days I am satiated well below my calorie goal and actually have to force myself to eat.
  • You lose a lot of water weight when you first start low carb, so that's probably all it was. I actually lost 10 lbs my first week of doing keto, but then it slowed to 1-2 after that.
  • diet mug root beer is amazing. Tastes just like the real thing. Other than that, I like to buy the generic flavoured carbonated waters from Safeway. The black cherry is my favorite.
  • For motivation, did you try looking at the progress pics thread? That does it for me :)
  • Shopping! And actually liking what I see in the mirror. I should save up some money though, because I am totally going to want to buy ALL THE THINGS!~ In seriousness though, I am looking forward to hopefully getting my college level confidence back, and being more willing to put myself out there and get a better job. Right…
  • I'm lucky in that I live far far from family, so my bf and I didn't even celebrate Easter this year. His mother did send us a personalized basket filled with candy, though, but I just stuck it all in the freezer.
  • I had this when I started keto with intermittent fasting. For me, it went away after a few days when my blood sugar stabilized. But honestly, those are pretty generic symptoms that can mean a bunch of different things. You should probably talk to a doctor if you can.
  • I do strict low carb. It turns out that if you go a few days without sugar, the cravings for it subside almost completely. It's a pain to get past those first few days, but worth it in the end. if you absolutely can't get rid of your sweet tooth, try making recipes using sugar substitutes, or even buying sugar free candy.…
  • This is the worst. I Think we all can agree that willpower is a major hurdle to losing weight, and when your body is screaming at you to eat more food, it's so hard to stick to a diet. I get the worst PMS hunger. I could literally eat all day non stop if I let myself. It's always a struggle :(
  • Buy yourself some 90% chocolate to eat (in small amounts) whenever the craving gets too bad. And I second the freezer idea, that's what I did with all of the candy my boyfriend's mom sent us for Easter.
  • I'd like to join! Trying to lose about 70 lbs. None of my RL friends understand the struggle, and my boyfriend is too sweet to chastise me when I slip up. Need people to keep me on task! Just started a new diet 2 days ago, after unfortunately ballooning up by 50 lbs since the last time I was on here :( Hoping to make…
