  • And add some cocoa powder! This is my go to "dessert".
  • Are you sure it's not just seasonal hair loss? It's apparently a thing, due to variances in the hair growth cycle at certain times of the year. I tend to shed every September/October like clockwork. And freak out every year that *this time* I am actually going bald. Other people do get it in the spring though!
  • I used to binge eat really bad. Like entire pizzas or pints of Ben and Jerry's in one sitting. To be honest, sometimes even both. Especially when I was stressed out or depressed. I am doing a low carb diet with intermittent fasting, now. The high levels of protein and fat keep me full longer, and the less frequently I eat,…
  • Try adding nuts to your diet and drink protein shakes with almond milk. Are you vegan? I noticed you said no cheese, but what about eggs?
  • It's a curse of womanly hormones unfortunately :( Some of us retain water during ovulation and right before shark week. It's a huge pain.
  • You're not losing weight excessively fast, but stress or sickness can make your period late or cause you to skip a cycle. So it could be a product of your body adjusting to the lower intake of calories, or perhaps you're working out more? In either case, it should sort itself out, but if it's persists for more than a few…
  • I used to work 10:30p to 7:30a. Ate lunch at work around 3am and dinner at around 9am after I got home. Went to bed around 1 or 2, so I had the whole morning to spend with family. It took some getting used to, but after a few weeks, it was routine and my energy levels were just as they would be for a diurnal pattern. My…
  • Cocoa roasted almonds. The vanilla ones are pretty good too. String cheese Sunflower seeds Pepperoni Tuna Creations pouches Raspberries Broccoli florets and dip - I really like the feta and sundried tomato flavour archer farms dip. Sugar Free Jello
  • Drink more water, and eat more fats and proteins. I find that if I eat something low in calories, but high in sugar (like a piece of fruit) that I get hungrier faster than if I eat an equivalent amount of calories in meat or fish.
  • While it's definitely ultimately up to you to determine what you put in your body, it wouldn't kill your husband to be more supportive. It's great that you are determined to get back on the right track, but is it possible for you to have a serious conversation with him about how important it is to you that he not suggest…
  • Frozen vegetables and frozen meat are always consistently cheaper than their fresh counterparts. Just as tasty, and even easier to prepare too. Eggs are also a good one. If you eat carbs, rice and pasta are always cheap and great to bulk up a meal. Other than that, shop sales as much as possible.
  • Lol, his description makes him sound like one of the quack chiropractors that tries to cure everything instead of traditional medicine. Probably not worth listening to this guy. I suffer from plantar-fasciitis off and on, and stretching and inserts definitely help. I never tried icing and I walk barefoot while at home, so…
  • Also, I think it's best to eat as much as you want when you first start simply because it makes it easier to transition. Cutting carbs cold turkey personally left me feeling ravenous. So the first few days were rough and I probably ate way more calories than I should. After 2-3 days, your body will adjust to burning fat…

  • The first time was hard, but I figured I couldn't make a change until I faced the truth. Now I weigh myself like twice a day, because I like charting the trends :)
  • I lost a significant amount of weight doing alternate day fasting. I don't know exactly how much, because I didn't own a scale at the time, but enough to go from a size 18 pants to a size 14. It worked for me because I was living alone, and worked in a restaurant, so I would keep no food in the house and just eat at work…
  • Lol, I have to deal with this from the waitresses at my favorite restaurant. They make really good omelets, which are huge enough to be a meal on their own, but come with carby sides. I always say I don't want the sides (because why waste food?) and they never believe I will be satisfied, make sure I know they can't lower…
  • Have you tried Diet Dr. Pepper? To me it tastes exactly like the real thing.
  • I have, it doesn't. At least not nearly as much as jogging outside for even half an hour. I do it while watching TV, since it's usually raining or sweltering hot and muggy where I live. :(
  • I don't trust the calories estimates for some of the exercises. Like, it said I would burn something like 700 calories from jogging IN PLACE for an hour. This seems insane, since jogging in place doesn't feel very exerting at all. I just don't log my exercises, that way I am not tempted to eat back more calories than I…
  • Hah! I actually was looking into teaching English in Korea or Japan. Definitely not going to try it until I get down to a healthy weight. I am not sure I could deal with those comments all the time.
  • I'm so jealous. I *love* ground beef, but the cheapest I can find it near me is like $6/lb. :(
  • It could be that you didn't have as much water weight to lose as a typical person on a ketogenic diet. I know when I first started keto, I lost 10lbs in a week.
  • I have PCOS and successfully lost weight on a ketogenic diet. 30 lbs in 3 months. Of course, I fell off the wagon when I went overseas, and gained it all back, but it definitely worked. Now I am on round 2.
  • Yeah, there are a few. Just google "BMR calculator". To get more accurate results which will account for your activity level, you can also use a TDEE (Total daily energy expenditure) calculator as well.
  • You're really small, so your BMR (calories needed to maintain your body) is going to be low. It's possible you can't go higher and still lose weight. If you want to eat more, you are going to have to up your exercise to compensate.
  • In addition to what everyone else is saying, have you considered cheese or eggs?

  • Yep, I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life, until I started reading up on low carb diets. A ketogenic diet was the only diet I ever managed to stick to for a significant amount of time, and that largely amounted to the fact that I stopped having cravings for junk food, and I was virtually never hungry. I counted calories…
  • It's not healthy, but it's definitely achievable. You need ~1750 calorie deficit every day until May 1. How you do that is up to you. Considering how small you already are, it's going to mean exercising a ton and eating very little. It isn't smart, but it's technically *possible*, depending on how bad you want it.
  • Man, I am the opposite. I hate walking in warm weather. At least the heat from the exertion warms you up in the cold. I always feel faint walking in the heat, no matter how much water I drink.
  • Google "fat bombs" for some yummy recipes. I personally was too lazy to ever really make anything, so I would just eat a mixture of peanut butter, cream cheese and cocoa powder to satisfy my sweet tooth and get some extra fat in my diet.
