  • Just google keto recipes. There are tons of good ones, with low carb substitutes for almost anything you can imagine.
  • This is such a good way of looking at things, and it blows my mind. I can barely lift and carry 50 lbs now, so I can only imagine how much extra energy I will have once I manage to lose that much.
  • Me too! I hit my lowest point this week during the evening actually, and I wasn't dehydrated, because I drink a ton of water throughout the day. I'm starting to think my scale is just horrible.
  • Yes. I live far from home, and my mom recently visited after nearly 2 years of not seeing each other. I think I gained about 30 lbs in that time, so I stressed for weeks before she got here that she would say something, and we'd have a big mother daughter fight and ruin her trip. It didn't happen, thankfully, but the fear…
  • I hate when people comment on my food choices. "I thought you were trying to lose weight?! You shouldn't eat that!"
  • This is the worst! Some people just lack any kind of self awareness.
  • Your profile says you lost 4 kg. For two months, that's not bad. Maybe your expectations are just too high? Or was that weight loss completely prior to the two months you have been working out?
  • This is what I do. Except I also bulk it up by throwing in lots of broccoli.
  • Are you going to a nutritionist or a dietician? Just FYI, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. In the US, only the term dietician is regulated and requires a license. If you really need help coming up with a meal plan, go to someone with better credentials.
  • Eh, I never trust reviews for companies that give the product to reviewers for free (as most of those reviews indicate). They can pretend to be unbiased all they want, but it's human nature to look more favourably when you feel like you "owe" something. Not to mention, I know people that do these reviews, and the companies…
  • Did you try setting mini goals rather than focusing on how much you have left to lose? I have a similar amount of weight I want to lose, and I know it can be daunting at times to see how much is left, and feel hopeless. But if you break it down into smaller chunks, and reward yourself (just not with food!) for any weight…
  • Frozen instead of fresh meats and vegetables is the biggest one for me. Around here, fresh chicken breast is like $6/lb. A 2.5lb bag of frozen breasts is like $7, and they taste just as good. Same with vegetables. frozen veggies are usually only $1/lb and conveniently cut up and ready to cook. I also shop sales like crazy.…
  • Yep, I gain water weight the week before my period, then it slowly drops off during. Between 3-5 lbs usually.
  • Whenever I start to lose motivation, I like to look at the progress pics thread. Seeing other people, especially those at my start weight, and what they were able to accomplish makes me feel more optimistic about my own future. I may not be able to have instant gratification for myself, but I can live vicariously through…
  • Wine isn't that bad. There is about 120 calories and 4g of carbs per 5 oz glass. You could easily fit that into your daily goals. The only problem with any alcohol is that your body won't burn any fat until the alcohol has been metabolized. But I drink a few glasses a week and am still steadily dropping weight.
  • Nuts are the worst for me too! Only because there are so many calories in such a small amount. I actually started splitting up jar into snack baggies that are one serving each. I find it much easier to resist overeating if I don't have the entire container in front of me.
  • I gained a lot of weight when I first started working in a cafe. We were allowed as much free coffee or tea as we wanted. So, naturally, I would make myself the most disgustingly sugar laden coffee first thing every morning. And also all of our cabinet food that didn't sell during the day was up for grabs for us to take…
  • Headaches are normal for the first couple days of cutting back on carbs. You can reduce the effect by drinking plenty of water and making sure you are getting enough sodium, potassium and magnesium in your diet. It will pass. Personally, I went through a few days where I had crazy headaches, was exhausted with muscle…
  • Is Cadbury's in the UK the same recipe as in NZ? Because I was never a fan. Whittaker's on the other hand. Oh god. I shudder to think how much weight I gained just because of that alone.
  • Do you go to a gym? I've seen people with kindles on the treadmill.
  • Ice cream. It's the only thing where there doesn't seem to be a good low carb alternative. I used to eat like 2 or 3 pints of Ben and Jerry's a week. Obviously not acceptable.
  • This is what keeps me focused. I have 70 lbs to go until 'healthy' weight, and 90 lbs to go until my ultimate goal. I actually made a list of rewards for every pound I lose, with bigger ones at the milestones. All luxury items that will help with my self esteem as I go along. Things I like to buy, and have fun shopping…
  • I know how you feel. It is so much easier to diet when you're by yourself, and only cooking for yourself. My boyfriend is also a healthy weight, and eats whatever he wants to stay that way. I gained like 50 lbs since our first date and now, 4 years later. Because it's so easy to over indulge when you're watching someone…
  • Thanks! I have an older phone, so those didn't come pre installed. Looks like Google fit is available even for my older version of Android (S health unfortunately not). So I will try that.
  • I am kind of broke at the moment, so working with what I've got.
  • Does anyone know if there are any good running apps with a different story or theme? This sounds really fun, but I have never had much interest in zombies unfortunately.
  • Did you also increase your activity level?
  • I prefer upbeat music. I tried doing audiobooks or watching TV, and find myself slowing or stopping unconsciously whenever a super interesting or suspenseful part comes on.
  • The magic of low carb means that you will naturally be fuller, longer, not that you can just stop counting calories. So I would start counting calories, until you get used to it at least. I logged calories religiously at first, and found that I am usually completely full at around 900 calories a day. After about of month…

  • That's such a good idea. I should start saving away all of the money I used to spend on junk food for the breast lift I am almost definitely going to need.
